What's even more interesting, the title of the anime in Japanese is 'Sousou no Frieren' which has a double meaning that only becomes at the end of this episode 8, which is also aptly titled 'Sousou no Frieren' => 'Sousou no Frieren' translates so much as 'Frieren, the one who sends off others' and the connotation and first interpreted meaning is 'attending a funeral' or 'burying someone', resulting in 'Frieren the Undertaker/Funeral/who sees off [her friends]' as the first episode seems to indicate.
However, at the end of the episode 8 the 2nd, different meaning of 'sousou no' comes into play namely to kill/to end, giving an additional understanding of 'Sousou no Frieren': Frieren, the one who ends others.
Nice noticing how Stark stepped in front of Lugner, just like he stepped in front of the Dragon. A coward character done right. He does not take actions because he is stupid, or is forced to do something. He is scared but he acts based on resilience to fight this fear in himself.
"The only time you can be brave is when you're scared" -forgot the book
Got goosebumps when I first watched this episode. your analysis on Frieren is really accurate, she has a lot of layers to her, which makes her feel much more realistic.
Anya Forger (Spy X Family) and Frieren shares the same VA - Atsumi Tanezaki. There are speculations that the animators did the similarity in their smirk face on purpose because of this.
An interesting detail is in Japanese, the way Frieren says what is translated as "that's one down" after she kills the demon at the beginning, is the way you would count animals or things, not the way you would count people.
A nice extra detail that shows the way she disdains the demons.
Love the jump scare intro
the ending of EP 8 is one of my favourite moments, when it really hits you that this aloof girl you're used to see is actually one of the most powerful mages in history.
And the OST during Lugner's flashback is so FIRE!
Evan Call and Frieren are match made in Heaven
1:45 Ladies and gentlemen, Frieren the Slayer.
Did you notice? Draht kills people by decapitation, so Frieren decapitated him. Same way she killed Qual with his own spell back in episode 3.
Also, remember, she was part of the party that traveled to Ende, cut a swath through the demon homeland and killed the final boss. Shouldn't be surprising she's powerful.
Recently, there was a random knife attack on the Taiwan subway.
A young man nearby sustained injuries to his face, but the perpetrator was arrested and said in an interview with local media, "That's what Himmel would have done."
The young man was a big fan of this work. This work gives me so much courage.
I'm Japanese living in Japan, and I bought all the manga for this work for the first time in over a decade. One thing I can say is that the peak of this work is still yet to come. I sincerely hope that the two of you will continue to post videos in good health and have fun until then 😌🌠
So far, no reactor has noticed the spell used by Frieren to kill Draht is the signature spell used by another character a few episodes ahead… 😉
cant wait for next two episodes 😀
Fun fact, this episode is just the warm up. 😁
Ah.. the double meaning of sou sou no
Ep 9 and 10 will be fire
