like how demons are not evil in the conventional sense, they are just different beings that behave in a different manner, that happens to be evil for human standards. This makes for a very interesting dynamic that basically makes conflict unavoidable.
It's a rare dynamic to see in fantasy. It's something you usually see more with aliens in sci-fi series. Creatures that aren't inherently malicious but their way of thinking and feeling (or lack of feeling) is just completely incompatible with coexisting with humans.
Kinda ,disagree with the point that Frieren goes out of her way to help 😅, it’s actually Fern. Ep2-3 she gots spells for Eisen and a spell to clean the statues of her party. Ep 4 she cleaned the beach so she could enjoy the sunset. The ep 5 Fern is the one that insists they help the villagers, In this episode Fern is the reason they’re moving the rocks. I’ve said this before she’s kind but she doesn’t go out of her way to be a hero
This episode and the next two are important for setting down what demons are in the world of Frieren. This is something that too many don't (or refuse) to grasp, trying to claim that Frieren is "racist" against demons.... If you read the manga (which I recommend), in it past where the anime ends, we will meet two further VERY scary demons, who are scary because they are trying to understand humanity.... That's all I'll say.
In the current "Disney" era every conflict must be solved with acceptance, love and tolerance... it's just so refreshing that an anime dares to go and say "nah... they are just a race of pure evil and must be exterminated"
Agreed. Acceptance equals neither faith nor forgiveness. Tolerance has to have its limits, lest it becomes poison. And unconditional love is practically worthless.
We just uploaded ep 14 on our Patreon, for those who are interested:

yeah, It was just crazy also seeing the little demon girl go "it seems like I've made a mistake"

"stronger then me?"
"Stronger then your boss boss"

I am stronger than your boss' boss :)
Lügner is literally the German word for liar. Absolutely fitting for him.

That's not how you use the word "disturbing" 😂
if you guys haven't notice yet, frieren's new journey is go to heavens. heavens can be translated as himmel in germany
😭😭😭
Since Himmel means Heaven in German, Frieren stating that their destination is heaven is literally saying she's going to Himmel.

I loved it, despite being super surprising
