  • It's an amazing experience speaking to the Harley Davidson sceptics. Often it's immediately obvious that they have fallen for a very human trap and can't see clearly. Let's discuss this and figure out how to avoid the same trap that has blinded them.
Includes a radical mod that I was forced to do to my Street Glide Special in order to differentiate it from all the other "black street glides"
Includes great music and the winner of the Resurgence Gear $1000 motorcycle clothing giveaway.
Old Not Dead viewers are eligible for a 10% discount on all motorcycle clothing at Resurgence Gear. Code = "OldNotDead"
Anyone in the world is eligible - including my haters.

I've had many great bikes over the years and loved them. But riding my Harley is a totally different experience that stirs my soul in a way other makes don't. I can't explain why. If sceptics opened their minds and took a test ride on a Harley they might have a different perspective.

I’ve had everything from Yamahas, Kawasakis, Suzukis etc. Once I just happened to get a 2010 Dyna Wide Glide I fell in love and I’ve been a Harley guy ever since. Many many riders who have Harleys now have had the rest. There is no cruiser like the original. The others are the copycats. Also the fit and finish are second to none ! Love your channel. Keep up the great work ! Regards from Alberta Canada.

Another great video! Yes, we ride Harleys because of the look, sound, history, and fellowship. All souls are unique but yearn for belonging. The challenge in life is not walking around with a chip on your shoulder while looking down your nose at others for the choices they made. We all have our own journey but sharing parts of it on a Harley make it that much better.

Just a question. No disrespect, but what's with the Aussie riders favoring a 3/4 helmet vs half or full face ? We have 2 friends from over there that come to the U.S. and rent bikes to ride with us but I have never thought to ask them.

@@user-ek6sb2bo3o I'm not sure? Half helmets don't fit my head shape well. I sometimes wear a full face (usually winter) If you watch the last video i did, riding with a HOG chapter - they all wore full face I was the only one (i think) of 50 odd people in an open face.

@@OldNotDead-Club Yes just watched that video yesterday Feb 11 2024. However, most of your other videos I have watched just seems that a 3/4 helmet was more popular. Thanks for the reply. Keep your knees in the breeze and the rubber side down.

Great video Aymen! You have just fleshed out what I was thinking about today. What is truth? Do we have free will? Are we just tools being manipulated? Everything in perspective and with some mental gymnastics we can convince ourselves of anything. This is the winter of introspection. The springtime is when we blossom. The summer when we grow. The autumn when we enjoy the fruits of our labor. Keep your positivity brother!

and a lot more where that came from, so true. I started out thinking of riding the Yamaha R1, started on a Suzuki GSX-R 700 '78, hopped over to a chopped up Yamaha Virago '87 and fullfilled my dream to ride a 2017 103 Fat Bob, no other feeling like it. Just the other day I was thinking this: "I know that I'm not supposed to die yet and everything is going to be OK, so why wouldn't I, for instance, stand in an open field in a lightning storm? The answer is simple... because based on my belief I would survive, BUT... no one wants to be hit by lightning because of the bad feeling it gives you and the recovery time! In other words, you always have to deal with the consequences of your 'bad choices' same as riding, mere risk assessment "is it worth it?". No need to worry, no need to act like an idiot. Ride safe, ride hard and enjoy this unique feeling.

I ride with 6 other machines normally, all Harley. I'm on my 2006 Stratoliner or 2018 Venture typically. Talk about getting ganged up on...😄. Both of my machines are stock not one of the Harleys are. They love to ask me if my bike is running, yeah they are quiet. I just tell them if they want to hear and smell my exhaust, we can do a top gear 40-80 mph roll on up a nice 6% grade.
    No takers yet.

"You are not your beliefs" this is ancient Greek wisdom that most people cannot comprehend, the path to awareness and ascending is to understand the human condition and why 93% of people don't have a sixth sense anymore, this and believing in something greater than yourself is a good start for anyone wanting to think beyond the social construct we've all existed in.

Thirty years later, after searching for a spiritual path l find its in alignment with the article.

Kevin, I just know that I prefer the sound and feel of a Harley engine that is matched to torque to the whining sound of over-reving. I also appreciate the instant response of torque that goes along with that. As for more frequent breakdowns, we know that Harley cruisers are designed for long range distance riding, and I haven't found that argument to be true. What I did find out the hard way is that some extremely competent rocket bike riders don't teach Harley throttle and clutch handling properly. This happened to me, and my practicing tlwha5 they taught me cost me a new set of clutch plates on a Sportster that I previously owned. I spoke with a crusty Harley rider who explained the problem, and I haven't had an issue since.
Motorcycle design is principally about functional purposes, not fashion.
After a few decades of experience, the riders that haven't given up riding or died inevitably choose a different reason and way of riding. This conclusion is not just about motorcycles. It's about the nature of living a long, enjoyable life. True lifelong motorcyclists come to understand this fairly early, and the rest become casualties along the road.

I ride a Harley wide glide and once I called a motorcycle shop and asked if they could mount a new front tire for me, The OWNER of the shop said sure bring it on in BUT when he asked what bike I had he said "NOPE I don't do anything on Harley Davidson, you Harley riders are so picky that if we put a scratch on the wheel you'll want me to buy you a whole new one, so take it somewhere else" and hung up the phone on me. Is that discrimination or what?

I’ve been riding for around 20 years now. I’ve owned a LOT of bikes. Most of which were Japanese. I’ll admit. I was the same way until I rode an old Panhead chopper. That bike changed me. I spent eight hours on that thing just grinning like a fool. None of my Japanese bikes ever did that. I still have, and love a Vstrom, but my RoadKing is my baby. When I need to reset, and clear my head. Nothing does the trick like my Harley.

Possibly one of the issues with the theory of Harley’s breaking down could be HD themselves. Like the way some dealers deal with their customers. Then it becomes a story then a reality. I was once told that a Harley are like a canvas and you paint too what you want and enjoy. Other than that I enjoy my street glide and the way I have set it up for myself. Cheers

And long tire wear...and practicality, like bags to take things...and ability to add all kinds of doodads...and simplicity, if one can change oil and an airfilter, they can probably maintain their newer HD for life...and the ability to carry a passenger comfortably...and a dealership network that is large enough that if your drivebelt snaps, you'll probably be able to get it towed to one, have it changed and be on your way...and a HOG membership that offers towing service...and a HOG membership that offers one a riding club to pal around with if one is so inclined...and regular dealership activities/parties.
But yeah kids, it's all about peak power figures...

Interesting, I ride a Harley that makes me feel good, and I love riding it because it doesn't feel like I'm riding a Harley, it doesn't even look like a Harley and it certainly doesn't feel tractor-like and I know when I rock up to a Harley group ride, there are a lot of Harley riders that would prefer I wasn't riding with them - at least that's my perception and how I feel (because I'm on a PAm). I love everything about the Pan America (except the windscreen system) because it is smooth, has the performance, great suspension and handling straight out of the box without having to spend any more of my hard earned dollars to fix what Harley is charging a premium price for but is not premium - and at the end of a long day's ride, the great suspension and smooth ride and upright riding position, my body is all the better for it. I also have an M8 LR with a Stage 3 (114) and let me tell you, after riding the Pan America and getting on the M8, the LR feels and is primative and tractor-like. And why wouldn't you bag arrogant Harley riders - you know, the ones the make comments like, "why don't you ride a real bike?" to Jappa riders. And then there's the same ding bats that would burn a Jappa at the Bathurst bike racers.

Great video!! I believe some haters probably never rode a harley, or know anything about them. Harley people are off. I received way more crap from Harley folks for riding a Sportster than I did My CBR. No one told me it was a "girls" bike. I thought it was a badass bike, but it was not good for long distances. " Visceral" is a great description. My problem is with their prices and dealerships. Harleys are by far the best looking bikes. On its own my Kawasaki is a good looking bike. Park it at a rallye amongst the Harleys, it is a turd in a punch bowl.

I have been riding Harley's for 40 years and I just bought an anniversary road glide and after I changed the exhaust, handlebars and seat, I love the bike. My issue is with Harley Davidson themselves. My bike was 4 months late, so I got it early November and I am still waiting on my top box that I ordered in August and they still have no date on when it will be here. In short, the bikes are brilliant, the company sucks balls

When I was 17 I had me a hg253 Monaro and I was doing my apprenticeship in the western suburbs of Sydney with the RAN. During leave I would hi tail it back to North Queensland and I developed an intuition to avoid speeding tickets and I simply said to the universe. I will always be safe from the police as you will slow me down appropriately. It’s not perfect but I only have 5 speeding tickets in 2 million kilometers and 43 years on the road.

Harley Davidson is the King of Kool in a motor machine and the sound rivals that of Beethovan but in your case ,,,AC DC,,and when you get on it you can feel the energy and you become one with the bike.no other bike can do that.

    • @sportyonetaubert5923

Totally agree about becoming one with the bike. I noticed that on my first trip on my Sportster. After a while the vibration and sound made me feel like I had melted into the bike and was just one with it! I have had several experiences since that I would describe as spiritual. I believe it's like the Harley add use to say "Harley Davidson...more than a machine"
      😊
