Are you in the Bronx NYC I need help with my Nissan Quest 2006
Heres a few tips from someone who did this today. you will need a swivel head to get to the tension bolt head. and also, make sure you spray some penetrating oil on that tensioner thfread underneath, because odds are its rusted up, and you will snap it like i did. the replacement bolt is 32.99 at autozone. Also, when reinstalling the idler pulley, dont tighten it so it cant move. if you do, when you start the car..the belt will snap because that pulley is locked tight. the belt is 15.99 at autozone fyi
and, if you have big hands, you will never get that back alternator bolt in. i procured the help of my wife who put it right in. id say the part of this job that i thought sucked, is the stupid clamps on the hoses. those kind stink
Awesome, Thank You, have to do mom's this weekend.
Great video...convinced me to get my quest to a mechanic. Thank you.
Ive got an 08 that Im about to replace the alternator on. Thanks for this video man!! Ill write again once Im done.
Alternator go bad all the time, how ever one thing to take away from this video aside instructions on changing alternator is make sure you have you water guard so the tire dont splash water on your alternator everytime its wet on the road and dude that belt needed to go. I mean you where there seeing all that cracked edges and all. Only 17 and some change at O'Reilly. Aside from that you did a good job.
This video is exactly what I needed. Now, can I give myself the confidence to do it myself (and not lose any bolts)
Did you do the alternator buddy
Did mine yesterday in a parking lot while it was raining on and off. Took me from 8am till 4pm. Taking the radiator out was easy but the lower alternator bolt was stripped so bad that I ended up having to buy a set of extractor bits from harbor freight. Getting the pulley back on properly was a pain in the ass figured out you have to pull it towards you as you tighten it or it will just spin and you have to unbolt it some in order to adjust the height with the adjustment screw. Finally got it all done though and this video helped out a ton I bought one with a lifetime warranty and went ahead and bought a new belt and battery so hopefully it will be the last time I have to mess with it. Love my van.
I am glad my video helped you. 😃
Great video. I wouldn't want to do this job without it. Thanks for putting it up. Nissan Quest's totally suck for doing maintenance!
Glad I can help 😊
You saved me $$$ I just did mine on my 08 quest. It took me good 3 1/2 hours the most difficult thing for me was to align that long bolt back. I just gotta put antifreeze and the battery back and will give it a try. But that's gonna be tomorrow, im exausted today. Thank you so much!
Hello did it solve the issue?
Thanks man for the video! And thank you nissan for making it so difficult for everyday folks to work on their cars
Thank you for this step by step. I'm super new to learning mechanics and this is one of the best breakdowns I've found. Super thankful
Gracias compa está bien perro el video!!
Bien explicadito...
Thanks for the video man. It really helped me and saved my family alot of money.
I am happy to help 😊
i guess Im kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@Krew Peter I would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it :)
TY felix.. you are correct all the vids on this topic suck.. and then... there's your video!! You the real MVP bro.. great video
Felix you helped me a lot !! Because if this video it gave me the confidence to replace it my self and I did and now my van is up and running. Thanks!
Wow. Im at 16:27 and i would never have figured this task out without this presentation. Much appreciated.
You did a very good job showing the repair. I am thinking about buying a used Quest so these videos are helpful to know I can do the repairs.
Thank You so much for this video. I can definitely say to do long bolt from underneath car. So much easier. Plus make sure you remember how tension pulley goes back together with the washers and what way they face. Lol
Great video but my dad says your belt looked shady, should have replaced it ... concerned fathers 🙄
Excellent video man, exactly the same problem on my quest, hit the gas and no response, all the lights came on and actually had to change the battery on mine because it was old and when the alternator went out it just finished it. Never buying another van, they are a pain to work on 😤. But thanks for the step by step video, I’m following it right now!
Good luck 👍🏻
Hey what was the results? Did you get throttle response after replacing alternator? I was waiting to see if buddy in this video would demonstrate acceleration of the gas pedal after he was done. I saw it turned the lights off….
for a second I thought I could get it out without removing the radiator and battery but I was wrong lol
Just finished my sister's Quest. Used your video and went right in and out. Thanks for posting the video!
Thank you for posting this. It was a great reference for each step in the process and saved me a ton of time! I got lucky with that back mount bolt, went right in!
I second that! Good job on the video!
Awesome Video Felix, Thanks so much for this info and I will replace mine this weekend
Awesome video man I watched this as I did it. it was difficult but I was able to get it done thanks of you
happy to help 😊
Thanks man, that damn thing cost 289 reman and 389 new. Found a rebuild shop to rebuild it for 80 bucks.
Great job, 👍. One thing I hate about Nissan Quest is everything on it is a pain to replace!
Awesome video, I will be doing my mom's this weekend, with confidence now. I may just replace the belt as well, since I am there, too much work I think not to. You are the best, Subscribed!!!
Bro, amazing video! You earned a like and sub here..... you're camera angles and verbal instructions in real-time are just awesome and you helped me out a lot. Thanks!
You seriously reinstalled that cracked belt! lol.. I still liked your video, good job!
Best video so far. Thanks
It's good to post a very detailed vid, especially when your co worker wants to do shortcuts on the job. I rather do it the proper way, less hassle and less time wasted.
Use long needle nose pliers to extract the last bolt while holding up the alternator to get it out. You can slide the bolt back in with your fingers and put the 14mm nut to hold in place while putting the 12mm bolt afterward.
Now I know exactly what to do. I don't want to do it, but I know how to. Great video, thank you!
Got it done. Took 2.5 hours to get it out & 1.5 to get it back in. That long bolt is dumb and evil.
Thank you for giving a rough installation time....what year is your quest?
man you need to continue doing youtube you explained it the best way possible keep up the good work carnal!🤟
Thanks 👍🏻
FELIX!...FELIX...FELIX! I subscribed I want you to make many more videos I can't thank you enough. I watched another video which is the first one that comes upWhen you search they don't even show you how to take the lower bolt or pulley off...He undoes the top bolt and it magically appears in his hand. LOL
Thanks again Felix I got the job done in one day!
Your a beast Felix ! Thank you for the video and showing us how's that man ! I appreciate it :)
👍🏻
Gracias mi amigo! Appreciate your good camera work! I will be looking for your videos if I need to look up anything else, great work!
Excellent video. Best one I've ever used to repair a vehicle.
Thank you for the video..... doing it in the next few days
You did your thing boy
Wow thx man this was very helpful I had the same issue
Excellent video Bro. Thanks!
Great video, But removing Just the compressor from the 2 engine bolts way easier and faster.
Thank you carnal that help a lot
Thanks a lot for doing this video. Ugh im in for a chore!
You got this!
To get that last bolt you removed back in though 🤬🤣🤣 thanks for the help on this 💯
muchas gracias felix buenisimo el video esde mucha ayuda!!!
Ala orden 👍🏻
Great video and if for anyone watching. if you put cardboard in between radiator and the motor you can actually remove the alternator without completely removing the radiator.
exactly. I am doing a timing chain and guide replacement and no issues.
Can you leave the fan and the radiator in without taking any bolts out of it
Great job explaining everything
Yep, once Trans is engaged, the car goes into safe mode in case the engine shuts off and leaves the driver without braking power.
Helpful vid. Thanks for your tremendous effort.
Great video! Lifesaver for me.
Thank for the vídeo
Good video and nice camera work. It was easy to follow what you were doing. Now I'm off to replace an alternator!
Joe Kotlar I wish you luck. Let me know when you finish
@@FixitFelix529 well my scenario was a bit different. First, I have a 2013 which is different. There is a cooler for the AC in front of the radiator. I didn't want to remove AC lines so I decided to leave the radiator in place. Instead, I took out the alternator from behind the passenger tire. After disconnecting the AC compressor, and moving it out of the way, I had just enough room to pull out the alternator. Your video was still helpful by giving me the idea to get if from behind the tire. Thanks!
Thanks man!! Great video!!
You are a hero!! Thanks
I agree he is 😁👍
This is the best video I've watched so far. Easy to follow along.
Very helpful thank you
That was the best time to clean the radiator among other things of course.
Gracias Mano!
Ala orden 👍🏻
Thanks for this video it helped me a lot
The back bolt can be inserted fairly easily with a pair of long needlenose pliers, or by taping it to a stick. You don't have to remove the fans from the rad when you pull it out.
Gracias Felix este video me ayudo bastante 😊
Gracias compa. Muy buen video
this video was perfect... to bad you didn't do full install once you got it out. either way saving alot of ppl money. im sure 500 for parts an labour.
Good video 👍👍
Thank so much for the video. Got my finish Saturday and it went out Thursday evening again. I bought one with the lifetime warranty. Could I have got the belt to tight and fried the new alternator? Why did it go out so fas!t???????
Maybe it was a defective alternator or maybe you have a shirt somewhere
Hello Felix I wonder why you didn't replace the belt seem to my it was gone, but great video
most of the time the old radiator will get damaged due to age it gets brittle so if your doing replace radiator at the same time !
I'm trying to get the alternator out today. Didn't know radiator had to come out! I really dislike the way this van is put together. Seems like every under-the-hood job is such a pain. Is it just Nissans?
Thanks so much for this great video.
Excellent job well done
Good job on alternator but belt also needed be replaced has cracks in it 😂
Awesome video ,good job brother
I have a 2011 Quest that I'm going to try the alternator on. Any chance you know if it is much different or have another tutorial you could recommend? Thank you!
Great video
Thanks
How much real time does it take to do the whole job? Since you condense the work to less than 30 minutes, would you please reply how long it really took to do the job. I would appreciate it. I don't want to start something I can't finish in one attempt. Thanks for your help.
About 3 to 4 hours
@@FixitFelix529 Thank you for the quick response, and the information. I have subscribed, and will be looking forward to future videos. Take care, God bless, and stay healthy!
how many hours take todo the job!!
Hi bro " we really needed your videos " we bought a quest exactly like that one and we can't seem to find where ghe small plug goes into or from where its from
Ps " or is it for the AC ' ?
Hey Felix, thanks again for making this extremely awesome high definition and extremely helpful video. Thanks again.
I am in Canada and has to change my alternator as well, has same issues like yours and I was wondering about the bolt you used to stop there leaking of fluids in the transmission lines on the ground. 1) What place you got it? and 2) what is the size, width, depth and length of these two (2) same BOLTs you used to stop the flow of transmission fluids (3 dimensions/size)?
Thankkkkkkkkk you ; )
Hi can you post as to why my accessory wire for my radio isn’t getting any power I’ve checked the fuses and they all have power or are there any that I could have possibly missed. It’s been months without my radio being able to power on, thank you!
Do u know if its the same procedure for a 2011 quest?
How did the alternator have anything to do with the transmission?
Can you do a informative video on replacing the sliding door window?
hey did you also have a p0726 code and a u1000 code on your scanner??? i have that p0882 code with the codes i mentioned for a while now, and now that i see this i might guess it’s the alternator since i’ve replaced the sensors and it doesn’t help
Hi Flex, thank you very much brother for making this very helpful and informative video. I am in canada and want to know about the size, depth, width and length and other names and also purposes for this BOLT used for stopping the flow of transmission fluid lines. I need them for my Nissan Quest as well. What place you got them? Automotive shop or any hardware place? Or else? Thanks again in advance for all your help in this regard. I am anxiously waiting for you reply. Stay safe and blessed. You have a blessed day.
What size bolt did u use to plug in the transmission fluid hoses???
How did you remove that pulley bolt so easily mine is a pain an it’s like it wants to stripp
Did anyone have issues lining the brackets up on The new alternator? I’m having trouble getting the long silver bolt to slide in on the new one. PLEASE HELP!?
Don't pull or drain coolant.. go through wheel well from bottom.......no need to drain coolant. Or remove anything from top
WHAT IS THE BOLT SIZE FOR THE TRANMISSION FLUID LINE? TO PLUG IT?
Damn he still didn't answer 10months ago 😒
Hi there quick question I cannot seem to get the connector from the bottom of the alternator out. It’s been a pain in the ass. I know you say to push and pull. Do you happen to know what side the botton is that needs to be pushed ? Is it on the right side left side or bottom of the connector ? I can’t seem to get it. Thank you very much !
For anyone reading this, this connector was a pain for me as well. The side to push on was the RIGHT side on my plug. I needed to push on the right side AND insert a small flat head screwdriver to start to wiggle it free. Good luck.
hey did you also have a p0726 code and u1000 on your scanner?? i have that p0882 code with the codes i mentioned and now that i see this i might guess it’s the alternator since i’ve already replaced sensors and it does help
doesn’t ***
A good test for an alternator: With the engine running, disconnect the battery ground (negative side). If that kills the engine, the alternator is bad and needs to be replaced. Simple test.
BTW, Never reinstall a old cracked fan belt like the one in this video. Buy a new one so you don't have to go back and replace it next month (on the side of the road when you're away from home).
We were able to remove the alternator and all without removing the tire.
How big was that bolt that plugged up the tube ?
👍
How many mileage did this Nissan have?
How long did it take u
I did it from the wheel hub and didn't have to remove all that extra stuff.
