    Thank you for the 7 great tips to get extra distance.
    I will follow your advice but I do not think I will gain your 100 yards.
    I loved the image of Jo being chased by your flicking towel.
    I bet she got her own back with 100 % interest.
    Joking apart , the video was really helpful & amusing.

    Excellent presentation Julian and Joe! I like the way you advocate free and easy set up and movement through the golf ball utilizing what the golf club was originally designed to do. Since becoming a subscriber to your channel, I have drastically transformed the way I play golf. I have relaxed my grip pressure, loosened up my wrists and forearms and starting to let the club do its job, not me overly controlling it. My primary focus now is to get a correct set up, since I do at time let the hands get away from my body too much. Also, to get more distance via a correct weight transfer and body rotation properly utilizing the hips and arm speed in doing so. Thanks for all of your help Julian and Joe. I really appreciate your contribution! Keep up the good work!!

    Another top shelf video for you and Jo, I wish I would have seen this before I went out golfing with my brother it may have helped me even further. However my golf day on the 19th was a success with just watching and practicing your videos. first 9 holes raining and not too pleasant and I was a bit tense so a lot of mistakes. Almost double bogey golf on the front but the back 9 the rain stopped and the sun came out and I was not tense anymore, muscles relaxed, your videos in my head and shot a 44 ending with a birdy on a par 5. After not playing golf for 9 years and lower bulging discs (lots of lower back pain) I played almost totally pain free. So at 62 I am convinced you are by far the best and most spot on coach/trainer of the world. Thank you for all you and Jo do in these videos!

    We were discussing this today as one of my group who is in single figures hits his driver the same distance as his 5 and 3 wood. This doesn't make sense. He uses such ferocity but where is the benefit that should be seen using a driver. I think the answer lies in this video. Thanks Julian for this one.

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  Рік тому +1

      I don’t have a problem with a closed stance as it helps you hit the inside of the ball easier. Just remember not to stop your body turn and weight transfer through impact too quickly 👍

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  Рік тому +2

      Just try making a whooshing sound with a stick, you’ll feel your wrists arms and body moving in harmony. Then it’s just a matter of gradually increasing the speed. 😀👍

    excellent breakdown of a good swing, Julian. but how do you get that extra swoosh ?

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  Рік тому

      Thank you. If you get a stick or an old shaft and swing it with one hand you’ll experience the swoosh, then it’s just a matter of replicating it with the club in hand

    • @cornyboers7304
      @cornyboers7304 Рік тому

      Just turn the driver upside down and grip near the head.and work on creating that woosh around the lead toe area as that's where the club has to be at it's fastest.
      Using the driver means you can do it before a round or even before you swing as a warmup to get the correct action.👍

    I liked the video, but you did not explain the last step to get the extra speed. What did you do to get the last bit of extra speed? That is what I am looking for. I saw you pop the towel and swing the alignment rod, I might have missed it, but I did not see you explain how you got the extra speed. Thanks.

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  Рік тому

      Hi Frank, thanks for your comment, it’s the feel of striking the bag with the alignment rod at speed that give you the extra bit of Whoosh at impact, just like flicking the towel. Difficult to describe as it’s a feeling and one you have to experience by doing not thinking. Try it and let me know if you get the feeling of extra speed, Frank

      @@JulianMellor Julian, I have gone to the range a couple of times since I asked my question. I have tried using half swings to get the snap at the bottom and then moved to full swings on a number of different clubs. I think that I was able to more club head speed, but I didn't have anything to measure it with except the ball flight. I think that the snap at the bottom comes from the right wrist and forearm finishing the swing at the bottom. I can't say that for certain, but I was able to get a large part of the full distance I was getting with the half swing while I was focusing on the right arm and turning through the shot.
      I'm not sure I am describing it well, but that was the feeling that I had and I did see some improvement. I think that the improvement will continue with more practice. Thanks.
