Strawberries only really produce for 2 to 3 years and that’s why you plant the babies that they put out and grow them up so that you are constantly having succession of new plants. We like the June bearing and the ever bearing varieties. I keep planting the shoots that they put out and that’s how we’ve been able to get them for quite a few years now, but you have to keep up with them. They are, more of a labor of love than some other plants that you can start new seeds and new sprouts every year or definitely more than other perennials that can exist in a garden
Just she does a wonderful and excellent job cooking gardening she's smart she's wise intelligent and that is a wonderful quality she seems humble she seems meek and I love how you constantly are doing things to be creative

As a kid I always loved snap dragons as we would pretend they were talking to each other and they are so beautiful. This year I was able to show my young cousins how they talk it’s pretty cool
Such a nice September garden! I can totally relate to not being quite ready to go into fall. I love our garden this year so much and it was my best gardening year yet. I just thrive in the warmer months and don't wanna go into the colder month (I'm in Zone 7b). But let's make the most of the last warmer weeks :)

You can do it!
Keep your strawberries if you can nurture your soil really well 🍓 there’s a fungus (Neo for short) that is wreaking havoc on strawberries and it’s impacting the US hard right now for fall plants. If you do bring them in, be cautious and make sure they’re tested clean. And most plugs are actually out of stock now. (Janelle in Ohio.)

I grew inca jewels for the first time this year, and they were in a bad spot so didnt doo too well but I will definitely try them again next year in a better area. My favorite Roma is Pompeii, they are prolific and huge! Whittling down the better varieties. 😅

Hi Bre, I am new to your channel and love it! I wanted to mention that strawberries have a 2-year life cycle and that you are supposed to replant them after the second year! This is true for my strawberries! I like growing the Everbearing variety of strawberries because they produce berries all summer! I think they are called "Everbearing?" Thanks for the great video!

Your the reason why I got back into gardening and homestead as well as found out that luffa can be natural. I bought a luffa plant this year and I’m absolutely amazed by it
The loofa is absolutely amazing. Well done Bre! As I listen I’m searching for the supremo and Inca jewel tomato seeds. My tomato harvest has been a bust this year 🥹 I was almost ready to give up next year but I’m going to give it another go since I don’t think it’s a seed or plant problem but a weird weather situation this year. I’m going to do a variety of tomatoes and see how each do. I’m a zone 8b and haven’t had issues growing tomatoes since starting in 2020.

I have Albion strawberries. They're huge and delicious and hardy plants. They're producing like crazy over the whole season. Actually the last month I'm getting so many per day 😅 no signs of slowing down Ontario Canada zone 5 b
I like the Seascape variety of strawberries. I plant new plants every year and get about a gallon from 200 plants every four days, from August 1 thru September 30.
What variety do you plant mine just produce early spring and just take up so much space
@@anabellabalbuena3670 Seascape day neutral variety. Planted in May, Southeast Montana, they start ripening around August 1. I don't bother picking off the strawberry blooms in June as they don't amount to much.
One of the prettiest wreaths I ever had for my home decor was a massive grapevine wreath with assorted florals and dried okra pods. The okra pods made the wreath and were what attracted me to it in the first place when I saw it displayed in a crafts consignment shop. I guess my point in reminiscing about my wreath is that you don't have to eat everything you grow to enjoy it. 😉

I'm not sure what variety you have now, but Seascape strawberries are awesome. I have sucess growing them in central Kansas.

We usually replant strawberries every 3 years and we have a great harvest every year thanks to that! We have Elsantas, they are so delicious and are ready to be picked in late may
I’m chatty today. ::: did you know there are larger - rounded varieties of loofa that grow even better in our zones? These loofas are light sensitive, like onions. The others ones that I’m getting on Etsy aren’t. Better (and easier to sew even) sponges ! I only got 4 loofas from 2 plants this year started indoors. 6a.

I wonder if you cut the base of the loofahs from the ground or pull them up but leave them in place on the trellis if they will die and dry out nicely, to accelerate the browning process 🤔
Bre I just discovered your channel recently and I LOVE your garden! I love that's its organised but yet its free flowing and unstructured. It reminds me of my grandparents garden in the early 80s which was like a cottage garden and to one side, salad veg and root crops eg 🥕🥔🧅🥬🥦 things of that nature grown as well as seasonal fruit in summer and fall. We used to have blackcurrants that grew almost semi wild, the bushes were so prolific and us kids would have hands, faces and clothes stained bright purple after stuffing ourselves with them!! Lol and often sore bellies too if we ate too many! Plus there was also wild gooseberries and ny gran had chickens. Also had a gorgeous spring well and the water was so clear and ice cold almost year around.
Your garden kinda reminds me of Beckys before she moved to her new property and while I kinda likd the raised beds garden, tbh I much preffered her old garden. Nkt trying to sound nasty otd just my personal taste but I do appreciate the raised beds are less work in many ways but I DO notice she's having to amend them multiple times now with various fertilisers which I remember my granddad saying can be a problem.with raised beds. He always maintained you're better work with the natural earth right under your hands and feet. We had a neighbour who used to do raised beds because of flooding issues and his soil wss extremely hard to dig manually but like Becky he had issues with constantly fertilising and he got much better tests when he finally invested in a mini digger to dig the ground itself and then his sons took over and drained tge soil much more effectively.

The only this I would do is cut the blight off the tomatoes. It will give your plants more energy to finish the tomatoes. Your garden is gorgeous! My garden was a failure this year but I’m on the coast of Louisiana & it has been so difficult to grow anything the last few years because of the heat.
I’ve not had success with cantaloupe yet. But I’m in North Idaho. I will keep trying 😊

I live in Moscow, Idaho and I’ve found any melons to be a serious challenge. But I keep trying and it helps my motivation to watch others succeed with them. Maybe one day… lol 😂
Have you thought about getting garden towers for strawberries? I moved mine into some gardenstock, they've never been better!
I cut and dehydrated some okra this year and ground it to powder. I use it to thicken soups and gravies.
great harvest this year. next year, rent a beehive. the bees will pollinate and give you a more plentiful harvest in the berries and melons.

In the uk we have a strawberry variety called marshmello, if you can get it there I highly recommend it! I grew it because it’s one that doesn’t get grown commercially as they don’t store long (so you need to eat or preserve soon after picking) but they were the most delicious strawberries 🍓 I have ever grown 🥰
I'm also planning to make sriracha, I particularly planted fresno peppers to make sriracha this year.

In Ohio i have to say this is the most challenging garden year I've probably have, allot of our area is in a " state of emergency" with the farmers in the areas can apply for assistance with help for our drought. I will say this tomatoe season was very sad for canning this year but i had the best green bean year, kinda made sure i over planted and a fantastic herb year but boy this year was eye opening year to where i get when people say "this was a good year for ect..." Hoping next year is a good tomatoe year for me cause I'm not putting up much this year
Let me know when you are redoing your strawberries because I have to do the same thing but not sure what time to do this ....I have heard that the strawberries have a disease problem, so I am afraid to order new strawberry plants.
Here in southwest Ohio we are headed down to the mid 40’s at night for a couple day already. I think it may e a chilly winter this year. Love the monthly garden tours!

We’ve had a couple nights down to 49 and I’m zone 7a. My first frost estimate is 10 days earlier this year which is a real bummer. Mainly just because of my peppers. I planted 99 peppers and everyone thought I was crazy but I haven’t gotten many at all!! Last year I didn’t get many because a deer ate half of them and I only had 10! This year we have a fence!
Have you tried Cucuzza Squash? It’s amazing, 3ft long & tastes like zucchini. I’ve also grown tromboncino squash for the first time this year. You can harvest early for “zucchini” or wait until fall & it’s like a butternut. Highly recommend!

Started my garden yesterday! I was kinda stupid and planted my cherry tomato plant lol! Probably should have started it with a cold weather plant instead of it but its okay! Also, that honeydew arch is to die for 😍Love you Bre I would have never started a garden if it wasn't for you and your awesome garden 💕

Hey Bre, I am in the middle of Kansas, still zone 6. I would recommend Aphrodte cantaloupe, and I grow vertically. They are a short vine variety, super sweet. Also, I grew sweet slice cucumbers cucumbers. (Fresh eating). I would recommend Harvest Moon Hybrid watermelon. (Hybrid) They are the best tasting watermelon that I have ever eaten. All those have grown well in the Kansas heat. I do not get any compensation, but I have had good luck with Jung seed company.
If you try them, let me know what you think. Please share your favorites. For here in our zone.
I made several batches of sriracha this year and it’s delicious. I used the 5-ingredient sriracha recipe by Grant Yoder (should pop up on Google, that’s where I got it). I skipped the post fermentation sugar add, but that a personal preference. Keep up the great work!
I've been told that strawberries need to be pulled up and replanted in a new location every year to produce well.

I hope them melons have time to ripen!! I do also wonder if you really have blight or if it’s actually botrytis (grey mould). I’ve had that this year and thought it was blight but if a plant bounces back, it’s usually not blight 🤷♂️ either way, more tomatoes!! 😊
Are you freeze drying cantaloupe & honeydew ? I work for a regenerative farmer here in ohio and we freeze dry the 2nds. YUM!
Do you trim the ends off the melons ends so the melons will ripen before frost?
I should have enough time where most the ones that have set should be ready in time. If not im not to worried about it and the chickens will get them.

@itsbreellis I was trying to find your tallest sunflower online and it closely resembles the Skyscraper Sunflower but looks more like a Wild Sunflower. So my question is: have you thought about taking some time during your slower winter months and maybe selling some of your seeds to your UA-cam fans? Just a thought for added income as I would love to purchase some of the sunflower seeds from your plants. I'm certain other fans of yours might like seeds from you as well. Just a thought and could be a revenue stream for you. Thanks.

Hey, I'm in zone 8a but the temperature are quite low those few days and I was wondering when I should harvest everything (my summer crops) because the temps are too low ... For the next two weeks the lower temps are arround 5-10°C (41- 50 f) and the higher will be arround 12-20°C (53-68 f) ...
Normally I still have my summer crops in october TBH so I dont know what to do ...
And my first frost date is arround mid decemeber ... so I dont know what to do

All the small branching ones were all volunteers so I have no idea. Ive never grown a variety like this but you see a ton around Kansas just like it that are native so Im sure some birds dropped some seeds in my yard.
@@itsbreellisthe branching ones look very similar to the prairie sunflowers we have in Texas. I googled it and it seems they are native to your area as well, so I think they may be that 😊
