My husband and I just put an offer (that was accepted) on a little house with almost 1/3 of an acre! It’s not a lot, but your channel has shown us a lot of possibilities for small space gardening!
That 1/3 of an acre is gonna feel huge once you start planting. It’s amazing how many plants you can fit in a small space and contrary to popular belief, plants being close together is really good for them. Look up permaculture guilds, grocery row gardening, the permaculture orchard, and willows green permaculture.
Bri get a 5 gallon bucket and a gardening belt, put the belt around the top of the bucket and put all the tools, tape measure, gloves, ect inches pockets. Then you have everything you need and a bucket for weeds or for your harvest! ❤❤😊
I love what youve done with your property. It has totally inspired me to do this in my own home when I buy a house one day. So genius, you dont need alot of land! Just a little backyard.
Small yards are literally better then big farms! Unless you’re really into machinery and tractors this can be so lucrative. $1000 a week easily at a farmers market from this scale market gardening if you’re not into filming and monetizing educational material like Bri.
My nephew always asks if he can pick a tomato leaf. He only picks one and he walks around smelling it while asking me what everything is in the gardens. I love that time with him because my girls are grown.
I'm in Kansas zone 6b and the last couple of years I plant a second round of bush beans in my onion & garlic beds when those are finished. I've had good luck with Hoss Blaze Beans. They are heat tolerant & do well when I plant in July.
I'm always surprised when people mention having any difficulty with tomatos - I've grown them my entire life and theyve always been the most low maintenance of all the garden plants for me. it was always the focus crop for us as my dad and I loved them and they made us the most money (we sold out of our yard, small town, everyone would come by and buy our extra produce) we always grew a specific variety, "better boy." I hardly see those anymore, though 😢
My better boys this year are the biggest so far! I believe mine were bonnie brand, available literally anywhere that has plants. Especially farm stores. Be sure to keep your seeds if you can't find any starts, try to start your own!
I keep thick skewers in my garden supplies and garden clips for anything that needs protection from the wind. They’re inexpensive and I have used the same ones for several years now.
You could look into something like cowpeas or other tropical plants that have a quick harvest time. Cowpeas especially can be eaten fresh or let dry or the bush. They thrive in the scorching heat of summer
Yes!! Completely forgot about okra!! Thanks for the reminder! I may actually plant that in a few spots. I was considering taking this year off from growing it but I think it would do great in that spot!
Yeah T-Post driver is basically a MUST. (Not a bad idea to have some light hearing protection when you use them either). They can be used for leverage to get the T-Post out again later if you're careful with which direction you face the bumps. I was extra careful this year after last year (my first year) I had one facing a big rock which I COULD NOT do the driver-leverage trick to get it out again later. Had to try rocking it side to side instead which was a lot more of a pain. Also, for anybody who sees U-Posts and considers getting them instead, you may have a really hard time using a T-Post driver to get them in because the little tabs on them are super weak and will break off if you hit them with the post driver. And you definitely can't use the driver-leverage trick to get them out again later. I won't touch U-Posts ever again after learning my lesson last year. T-Posts for life.
Youe back yard its my dream ! (Sorry i dont speak well in english im french canadian) i have 2.5acres and a show to my boyfriend your channel because i want it ! That a good thing to show to our kids hihi
i plant my zucchini's with a bunch of parsley. it does a good job and deterring some pests and the zucchini's shade the parsley so it doesn't hold and it protects the soil.
Hope the storms weren’t bad for you up in Kansas in the last few days. We pulled our plants in here in Norman, OK and everything was untouched thankfully.
Thats amazing!! So glad your plants were untouched! We lucked out here!! We had chances of softball size hail and tornadoes and lucky enough only got some good rain!
Your garden is off to a great start! You mentioned granular fertilizer during planting and liquid once plants are planted. I'm curious why you didn't put granular fertilizer in the plantingvholes of your Dalila and Snap Dragons?
Hopefully it will! If its gotten warm and it still hasnt it may be a dud. Mine started to pop up in the fall and goes dormant for the rest of the winter until spring.
Where are you at and do you give tours? I would love to see your set up! I “farm” on 4000 sq ft and your stuff looks better! Although I have several fruit trees taking up space and light.
I'm just a new subscriber and this is the first video I have watched. Personally, I would like to be using your fence for something like grapes or other berries. After all you have a lot of fence line. What do you do with all this produce.?? For a person that doesn't like the smell of Tomato's you sure do have a lot of plants. But that is ok , my wife can always tell when I have been touching Tomatoes. On the thought of any Fungal problems, do you clean out those small pots with a light disinfectant between replanting in them.?? Just a thought,, that T Post idea for the weave will stand up better with one post on the middle in my opinion, stronger.
Great video. Thanks!! Question : why don’t you have a “grandpa’s weeder” for your weeding? It’s life-changing.!! And yes I use the same fertilizer. When I use it in the basement for my seedlings, my dogs and cats are always very interested in what I’m doing. Gross.
Do you do all that gardening and processing of produce all on your own?? I can't imagine having no help. But I'm also dealing with recovering from chronic illness and am not strong or energetic enough to be a one woman show. Hope you have family, friends and community to help when you need it!
I just bought one of those Amazon raised garden beds based off of your videos. How much soil do I need to fill it up? I’m going to be using Mel’s mix for it but don’t know how much it needs. 😅
Bree, i love your channel and garden so much. I'm on my second year gardening and just added three more beds, but I'm wondering is EZ straw with tack safe to use on vegetable plants for organic gardening? I've been doing research and have been getting a lot of mixed reviews. I noticed you were using it around your snapdragons but do you use it around your food crops too? I bought some but took it back because i didnt know if it could work. Please and ty for your advice! Love from Ohio
I have in the past! Our pest pressure around here typically starts getting bad once the broccoli is out. It would save me time coving them but I tend to just pick off anything that may bother the plants.
I was just watching and randomly had a thought... where do the vine borers come from? I'm sure you're one of the few gardening in your neighborhood. Just curious how they become such an issue during the summer! Where on earth do they even come from 😂👽
do you spray with anything besides fish emulsion? I've just this season started spraying with the below but I've never done any spraying in the past. It's an attempt at natural pest control, and I just recently learned that plants absorb micronutrients through their foliage rather than their roots which is really cool (per gallon of water) 2 liq oz Nature’s Source 3-1-1 (oilseed extract) 1 liq oz *Biorepel (garlic oil) 1 liq oz *Biomin Cal/Boro Light (calcium/boron) 0.5 liq oz *Ecotrol Plus (rosemary oil/peppermint oil/geraniol)

@@rosa.athome tell me about it 😂
No grass to mow! That's fantastic! Just food to grow! 😊 Your gardens are beautiful.
Thank you so much!!
@@itsbreellis you’re welcome!
My father always told us that if you can't eat it don't grow it 😂
This is my first year doing vegetables and you have your act together in a way I dream of.

My husband got me that 2 years ago and it is so useful! Good suggestion.
Thanks for the tip! Love that idea!

I love the smell of tomato plants in the garden and I love tomato sandwiches 😂 Your plants look amazing Bre. Your garden is beautiful. Great job ❤😊💚

Bre you are an absolute inspiration! TY for sharing all of your knowledge abt gardening, I've learned a lot from you ❤
Thank you so much!
Not boring, loved hangin' with ya. Keep up the awesome inspiring work!
Thanks for watching!!
You are such an inspiration!
Love the layout you came up with for the garden!! Excited to see how it all grows 🥳
Thanks so much! 😊
Do neighbors complain about your chickens? I usually just have a small garden , but love to watch things grow! Love video!
Thank you! & Ive never had issues. I have to have a permit regardless so they couldn't do anything anyway.
I'm in Kansas zone 6b and the last couple of years I plant a second round of bush beans in my onion & garlic beds when those are finished. I've had good luck with Hoss Blaze Beans. They are heat tolerant & do well when I plant in July.
Thanks for sharing that variety!! I’ll check that out!
And I love that the green beans will put nitrogen back in the soil & this variety only needs 55 days.
Im in KC so pumped to see this. Will try.

Thats amazing!! Our humid and hot summers tend to take out ours. Some years arnt bad but its one of the more finicky plants in my garden.
My better boys this year are the biggest so far!
I believe mine were bonnie brand, available literally anywhere that has plants. Especially farm stores.
Be sure to keep your seeds if you can't find any starts, try to start your own!
Lay straw down unsprayed hay will retain water ammend the soil act as a fertizer while mulching the soil and shedding the the plants roots

Thanks for the reminder on cow peas!! Thats always one I forget because ive never tried to grow them! Maybe I will this summer!
Love your garden layout. It's inspiring!
In my zone 9b, Okra and cowpeas are also quick to grow during summer.
Yes!! Completely forgot about okra!! Thanks for the reminder! I may actually plant that in a few spots. I was considering taking this year off from growing it but I think it would do great in that spot!
Everything looks so perfect! Here we go into the season! I look forward to your fall videos already!

You are the best at Garden's planting planning!
I try my best! Thank you!

I already amended those areas a few weeks back! Theres a few areas I haven't done that I will during the rest of the planting out!
nice work! My garlic has yet to emerge, but i'm hoping it'll still come up.
Hopefully it will! If its gotten warm and it still hasnt it may be a dud. Mine started to pop up in the fall and goes dormant for the rest of the winter until spring.

Its from Petra Tools! They have all kinds of sprayers!

I do have one!! I use it in areas that are harder to weed. A lot of these weeds are surface level and really easy to pull up!
@@itsbreellis yes when they’re like that the GW tool just hinders movement. I hear ya’!

Do you get early blight on your tomatoes in Florida?
I just bought one of those Amazon raised garden beds based off of your videos. How much soil do I need to fill it up? I’m going to be using Mel’s mix for it but don’t know how much it needs. 😅
I want to say it took about 1-1.5 cubic yards of soil.
What about sunflowers? I don't recall hearing you mentioned them. You always had the prettiest sunflowers at your place.
yup they will be planted this week!

Yup it’s garden safe, and everything I’ve seen online states good for organic use. I’ve used it for 5 years or so now and always liked it.
If you look it up on lowes or amazon it states “organic bagged mulch”
@@itsbreellis Thank you soo much!!
Hi, your garden looks good, where are you got your chicken coop?
Thank you! My husband actually built it!
Do you cover your broccoli and cabbage to keep them from moths?
I have in the past! Our pest pressure around here typically starts getting bad once the broccoli is out. It would save me time coving them but I tend to just pick off anything that may bother the plants.
Is it too late to plant garlic? I’m in 7b South Carolina. I know that you can plant in the fall but can I plant in the later spring?
I personally haven't/never seen anything on a spring planting.

I believe its a moth thats native to north america. They lay eggs and the vine borer is the larva that will feed on plants
Americans plant alot of tomatoes
I didn't know snapdragons could be planted with editable food.
yup!!
You have such a green thumb. How do you not get snails from eating your greens?
We luckily dont have many issues with snails around here.
I believe succession is pronounced suhk-seh-shn. 😋
