It's not taking someone's job? At least be honest. You're just spending a ton of money on robots because they're cool? The goal is to get more efficient and eliminate jobs just like every other use of machines and robots. It is what it is, but don't lie about it. It's insulting to the people whose jobs you're eliminating.
Walmart didn't actually have a job were you were only a cashier. All Walmart employees were in charge of restocking items. When it gets busy, and a cashier was needed, they'd pull you from the floor. So, the self checkout lanes didn't really take anyone's job, it just allowed the employees more opportunity to keep stocking without being interrupted.
They put one of those at the store near my house. It seems pretty neat but it got stuck a lot because customers keep standing in it's way on purpose so it can't get by them. Plus that store is busy no matter what time you go. So the robot might not be as useful there.

Walmart has announced they're vastly increasing the fleets of robots in their stores, allegedly because "these 'smart assistants' will reduce the amount of time workers spend on 'repeatable, predictable and manual' tasks in stores and allow them to switch to selling merchandise to shoppers and other customer service roles". What a load of crap. I haven't shopped at Walmart in years specifically because the ones in my area eliminated most cashiers. They have NO intent on letting employees interact with and "sell merchandise" to customers IMO, because the typical shopper shops for themselves. This appears to be simply another attempt to eliminate as many employees as possible to compensate for the pay increases they were forced to offer after much public pressure.
What about blind peoples safety around that thing. They might walk right into it. Also AI can falsely think a persons behavior is suspicious, because the blind will not move in the way way as sighted people .
