The actor who played the masked guy (Dileep character), is Asif Ali, a main stream actor, who is also a good actor/star. He jokingly said to Mammootty about how Kamal Hassan gave Actor Surya Rolex watch for Vikram for his role, can he get one too. And Mammootty actually got a Rolex watch for Asif Ali, during a success party press meet.

Mammootty is making some kind of movie that never happened in indian cinemas. As a malayalee its very proud for us to say that we have mammooty in our industry than anybody. He showed us that a real super star is a guy who can do any character in the movie without looking the stardom . They thought us the real cinema, which we never seen in indian cinema. The saddest part is only very few people from another industry know that there is a guy called mammooty, who has done some absolute amazing things. Only very few audience outside of kerala. We want to let them know that there is a gem here doing something that indian cinema has never seen.
This movie itself was a Rorschach test for the viewers. The makers did the test and viewers found different answers from it. Some took it at face value, some believe he's still in the white room, some believe he died in the car crash and this is his heaven. I'm surprised a Malayalam movie was able to make me think like this. What a excellent film.. and hats off to Mammootty to star and even produce it in Malayalam.
In the end, luke said "welcome back" to Sita's ghost. And it's brilliant that they've done those shots in her perspective.
I am not sure if you'll like Kannur Squad, we loved it. But for reviews/watchalongs, Puzhu, Unda from recent times are great choices. For classics, Bhoothakkannadi and Ponthanmada!

Kannur Squad is a good choice..It is a great thriller and good for a watch along..Puzhu has too many politics said through it, only may be we malayalees can connect with it..Unda is a good one..

Vidheyan, ponthanmada, munnariyipp, thaniyavarthanam some of the gems.There is a movie called kerala cafe, it’s actually a group of short films. You have mammootty, fafa and lot of other great actors with great stories. Don’t miss Kerala cafe. Mammootys film is the best in that bunch. And try to don’t miss the theater experience of bhramayugam guys.

That's the uniqueness of this movie.. most Malayalam movies are pretty straight forward. Our audience still wants stuff that shines only at face value tbh
If u watch bramayugam u can see totally different Mammootty on the screen and you will get it on the very first shot of mammootty..that’s called magic❤
It would definitely be fun to watch Bramayugam with you guys like this but, man.. do try to watch it in Theatre if possible. It's definitely a theatre experience..!!

Mammootty is a insane actor. He takes the charector to next level. A brilliant performer
Bramayugam actually happened in 17th century.A singer fleeing from enslavement seeks refuge at a mysterious and magical home, taken in by its beguiling owner. Unsettling scenes ensue as the man realises an evil presence resides, leading to explosive conflict.
Rorschach is a open test the each viewer can judje the movie with their own way of mind feeling etc.
The people who didn't like this are:
1) people who take things at face value
2) people who expect a mass entertainer/positive role from Mammootty

U see the last scene.. The camera angle is down towards mammootty!!.. Except this scnes rest of the camera angle is equal to mammootty's height.. Tht means he (dileep) bending his knee to mammootty.. Thre is no power full cme back to dileep.!!.. The brilliance ❤️🙌

There's also a scene where Mammootty says killing Dileep would be too easy and he wants him to be a dog who would bend down and bark for him. That's what happens in the last scene I guess.

1. Subtle acting is trademark of malayalam industry. You will see that in every good actor in every goods films from kerala.
2. Yes, Peranbu was a tamil film.
3. Thaniyavarthanam, ponthenmada, Vidhayen - these are the must watch classics.
4. Puzu, Unda, Beeshma Parvam are his more recent works witch are worth watching.
5. Please DONT do watchalong for BHRAMAYUGAM. Experience it in your own time. Dont get distracted. Immerse yourself, you will only get this chance once.
Bheeshma parvam is a commercial movie. Why do people keep recommending that among good movies?

Let me clear the air whether the entire context was real or not. It was real, the flash backs in Dubai was real, he was in a asylum and he was still suffering from the trauma. Towards the climax what was said was his intention, to ensure the existence of the individual who destroyed his life was entirely uprooted.
Which led to his creations and his creator that mirrored his behaviour as well. Which indirectly directed towards the entire blood line itself, except for her sister left living who in turn was also jailed.
Through out the process he was trying to visualize what Dileep would feel or do for his actions which was the Rorschach reference point used as well. With regard to how he looked and he would react as well as he never seen his face but how represented haunted him! After the death of Dileep's mother who was the creator, he started think about Dileep kneeling down who was standing tall and proud previously. He Mammooty wanted to ensure and hear that news to himself and hence he simply surrendered to the cops.
Pasting my reply from another comment. This is not a simple revenge story by any means. There are two distinct shots of the jail scene in the end where Bindu Panicker (the mom) and the banana leaf are. A normal-looking jail before Bindu Panicker dies and a pale white one after that. There can be many interpretations, and if you read more about the Rorschach test and the concept behind it, you might be open to more perspectives on this movie. There are many other clues as well.
Mammooty could have very well even killed his wife and is trying to cook up a story like what the advocate said in the scene where Mammooty is kept in prison. Asif Ali (the masked man) could be very well alive, and Mamooty's character could be trying to find closure by cooking up a story in his head. Mammooty, his wife, Asif Ali, could very well be even dead, as evidenced by the dialogue 'welcome back' to the dead Bindu Panicker in the end.
And the simplest answer is that he is a schizophrenic due to the trauma of his wife's death. I mean, the gray Mustang car that the robbers used in this setting points that out to me. Either way, it is by no means a simple revenge story, and there is no better title than Rorschach for this movie.
Vidheyan, Ponthan Mada, Kazcha are some classic malayalam movies starring Mammootty that you can watch.
Please watch bramayugam in theatres. It has around 30 cinemas in US ❤

Really interesting watchalong dears❤I love this movie but watching it again made me rethink at least a few things that were obvious. Beautiful review (very well worded)😍🙏Was this what we saw ,understood or thought about ,was the protagonist not in his right mind and wanted revenge against the person responsible for his wife's death (to get hurt or die again and again) because Mammukka 's character was in so much pain?...or did he by some strange way realize the guy's spirit was near his loved ones.He married the wife because he thought the guy would come and protect his wife but he realized she wasn't anything to him but his Mom and brother (family)was what kept his spirit alive which is why the enraged spirit found him in the cell after His Mom committed suicide...which was probably the 'welcome back' but it could also mean by that time in Mammukka 's mind he made Asif 's character feel his pain when his Mom died and also that his spirit could do nothing to Mammukka bringing closure to both the incident and pain in his mind ,giving him peace and a motivation to end this journey and start life or another journey again. Also in this movie he stopped living when his family was taken away ,the revenge was his motivation to live and the Mom's death(the ghost's defeat)was what brought him back to life and living again(whether as a normal human being or as an inmate)

There's an old movie called "Emmanuel" with Mammookka and FaFa in it, it's a heartwarming movie. It's not THAT big of a movie but it's lovely.

It's not all in his mind. He just avenged from the Dileeps Ghost. And has few perspective to the same story however.
Nope ... There are a lot of logical inconsistencies throughout the film that suggest that most of this isn't real. To start off with, the final scene, Bindu panicker's room is completely white. Mammotty chases Anil and Anil gets hit by a tipper lorry.. yet none of them seem to completely forget Anil attacking mammotty at his house.. Mammotty having access to his dead wife's passport after her death.. the list just goes on.

Not necessarily. The revenge story is just a mundane vessel to carry deeper and more important aspects of the screenplay or overall material.

Reason some people don’t like some movies is that many people can have different interpretations and explanations for the same movie and some of it may not be convincing for them to like the film. Understandable. 😊
If you take it at face value, there are a lot of inconstencies in the revenge aspect... That's why they dislike it. And tbf, most malayalis take movies at the face value.

One thing i noticed afted watching your reaction is that this could be his therapist session (implied by having him on the couch and the empty chair is for the therapist). Malayali viewers wouldn't pick up on that as they're not used to therapist sessions... Like Mammotty said it's open to interpretation, this movie.
