ER NURSING CHOICE: Explained By An ER NURSE

- This is episode 1 in the Nursing Specialty Series. I plan on covering every nursing specialty that I can think of. In this episode I talk about ER nursing or Emergency Department nursing. ER nursing is slightly different that other specialties in a few areas. The first I can think of is Assessment and Triaging, because these two are so important when the patient initially comes to the hospital. It is extremely important for the nurse to make sure they are getting the right information from the initial assessment. After that assessment is complete, it's just as important to put the patient at the right triage level so the doctor can know which patients to see first. I go over that and a few more details about ER nursing and what characteristics ER nurses share.

Love it Crosby!!!!
Love your vids man. Glad I found you!
I honestly think we pretty much have the same traits, personality wise, So interesting! I think the Ed will be a great fit for me! Thanks for making this video!
Great series! Cannot wait for the rest - in my second to last semester and currently trying to decide what area to go into!
Good synopsis.
You are my hero!
I'm a college student (26 yrs old.) Although I am taking class in health & nutrition. As I like to eat well and exercise. It's very ironic because for the past year I've been struggling with painful joints (found out from a CT it's Arthritis.) unexplained weight loss from 120 to 103 pounds, neuropathy. Burning and numbness. My blood work is usually normal values, even my B-12 was normal. My reflexes are 'brisk' the doctor refered me to a neurologist for evaluation. My grip strength is normal, no issues dropping things or walking. No issues with balance. So I don't know what it is. I'm hoping everything turns out fine.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great advise as usual, wishing you an awesome week.....Abrazos
Pumped for this series! About to enter my last year of school and I am so torn between all of the options 😫
yeet skeet goodluck !!
Thank you so much for making this series! I'll be finished in about 6-7 mo. and by then I'll gather what I'll need through your videos and school. I've worked in EMS for a year as an EMT and so far, I'm dead set on becoming an ER Nurse! (nurse_edd)
Dude u r the best
I'm in school right now, will be done in about a year. I'm leaning toward either ER or ICU (I loved both observation days this semester) but I'm trying to keep an open mind until I'm done with school. My question is, do you have any additional resources (books, videos, etc.) or tips on the art of triaging? I feel like we haven't had a really good, solid lesson on how to triage thus far in school, and I'd like to ideally start in the ER once I've graduated.
ED is my dream job. Graduate in May. I just feel so unprepared and anxious.
I'm kind of wondering what specialty you think an extrovert with a very strong type B personality would do well in? I am NOT organized, I do really well in busy/stressful situations, but I'm also very emotional. I like to always be doing something and I get bored if I do the same thing over and over. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what's the best fit for me based on my personality.
Maybe ER nurse still ?? Lol depending on your hospital, you’re never really bored in the ED. Especially if you’re in a large city
Autumn Marie I'm the samee
Pass Nclex-rn in 75... Check... Applied to ER job...
Check... Interview? Doubtful. The posting said nothing about required experience, but some general questions in the online app asked if i had a minimum of two years RN experience. Crap. Being new is depressing. Lol
Dana S I got in as an ER tech in my last year of my bsn and got my foot in the door that way and they hired me right off the bat when I applied for the RN spot!!! First day is tomorrow! Good luck getting in the ER, I absolutely love it! Our ER hired 10 new grads (even those who weren’t an ER tech first), so stay hopeful!!
What was your gpa just curious?
Bro.
What would be the most prestigious nurse speciality???
The top nurse.
Thanks.
Whatever you want it to be. ER is kinda like the wild west of the hospital.
I know to become an ER nurse you need a BSN, but i dont know what to do after that to become an ER nurse. So how does one go about becoming an ER nurse after getting a nursing degree?
Cameron George there are fellowships you can get in many specialties including ER. Gotta have at least a 3.5 gpa for most of them to even be considered
Depends on the hospital, residency options, concurrent enrollment in a BSN program, employee referrals etc
