Great reaction! I love Holden’s arc. He finally has to kill someone and it is a foil for his own character. The doctor just wants to help Belters and is ready to broadcast the truth like Holden did in episode 1. Holden symbolically kills his old self.
We don't know if he has ever had to kill before, we just believe that its the first time Holden has killed and its not against someone who was using lethal force to attack him or the ship he was on. We don't have history of any combat his Earth ship was on (besides the time he was ordered to fire on a ship that hadn't attacked them) and we saw him return fire in the brawl on Eros (so its certainly possible that he killed someone, we don't see every shot or what they connect with). But you are absolutely correct about how he has killed someone who was attacking them, or using lethal force defending others under direct mortal threat. And yeah the guy is doing a very Holden thing, wanting to get the truth out for the greater good.
That doctor was introduced to you in an earlier episode when he could be seen and heard on a TV monitor, talking about his non-profit humanitarian group of physicians seeking to help the people of Eros.
Yup he's easily overlooked and is true to his word, but it's ironic that he's killed doing exactly what Holden did with getting a message out about the Cant and that had to eat Holden alive.
“The Nauvoo didn’t move, Eros did.” Great shocker ending - this is one of my favorite episodes because it’s the first time you get some real confirmation that the protomolecule is not just some kind of virus or chemical weapon, there’s a lot more to it than that. It just gets more intense from here… P.s. the no-empathy scientist guy’s name is Paolo Cortazar.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps Yeah you’re right about that, but we even got a glimpse of that at the beginning of episode 1 as Julie screamed in terror. I suppose I can re-phrase my comment in that even if we had some evidence that this is more than just a virus or a chemical weapon, this episode shows that the protomolecule is capable of a lot more than we have seen in prior episodes: there’s a big difference between being able to grab and lift up a man of about 80 Kg, and being to move a 938,350,000,000,000,000,000 Kg asteroid. (I know I’m a nerd, I looked up the mass of Ceres on Wikipedia)
@@cinedelasestrellas Well, not for me personally, I couldn't stop remembering Twig from Ripper. :-) "Ya like it? The real thing is gonna be in cyberspaaace, man."
You may remember in the first episode of the season while Miller and Holden were getting their cancer meds, that French doctor was being interviewed on the news imploring the UN to send a medical mission to Eros. I don't think Holden managed to kill anyone in the melee leaving Eros, so this was his first homicide. What made it even worse for him is that they were not even bad guys. They were good guys doing the same thing he'd do in their place.
I thank Holden would use lethal force if attacked. We just have no knowledge if he has yet done so (he might of during the fight in Eros (we don't see ever shot made or where they hit). But we know he hasn't killed someone that hasn't used lethal force against him or his crew. And yes the Doctor is an idealist like Holden was. This is the first point were we clearly see his idealism has been broken.
Holden did help Miller kill the guy in the pachinko parlor. You can see in his face afterwards it messed with him. Then there was the shootout Miller incited between CPM and the Protogen troops, unclear if he hit anyone. I think that's as far as it got. He was pressing the button now.
I have no doubt that the next episode will cement this show as one of your favorites of all time. This show definitely deserves to have you two watching it, enjoy!
watch raised by wolves, it's soft scifi, but the acting and writing is just as good as the expanse if not better, u won't regret it. u can thank me later xD
I don't know why but for some reason I had thought when you two started this that Melina might not like it as much. So hearing that you get that good feeling of wanting to see what happens next while watching. It really makes me happy. I love that you guys love this show.
Haha, amazing reaction at the end... And yeah i can't think of any other twist in a movie or TV show that was that extreme. I too just sat there with my jaw open wide, that's how stunned i was by that turn of events.
Wow! Great reaction! So much emotion coming from these two! I can't imagine what the next episode will do to these young ladies! He'll it's getting to me just thinking about! I literally can't wait for the next one!
The delight of the show really, really picks up in season 2 --- and just DOESN'T STOP. It really just keeps building until the last episode of season 6. It's fucked. And it's great.
The French doctor on the ship, he was on the news screen when Miller and Holden were getting their radiation treatment in Ep. 1, speaking on behalf of some humanitarian organisation
I even felt sad for that little tug robot that burnt up in the Nauvoo's drive. Maybe it reminded me of R2D2, lol. That was a fantastic launch sequence.
I'm friggin' hardcore binging this right now. Resisting crush on Lola, not doing a good job. But still, best Expanse reaction I have seen. You guys really get it!
The plan is to play a game of billiards using the Nauvoo as the cue ball and Eros as the object ball. If the cue ball is going fast enough it will knock Eros into an orbit that will eventually allow it to fall into the sun. In the meantime, nuclear devices detonated at the airlocks will ensure that nobody goes into Eros.
So, you spend the first season explaining how the rules of physics affects everything, so in the second season you break the rules. Edit: well, in the books it was explained as an advanced alcubierre drive, which could be possible
I don’t know, Holden knows what it’s like to be on both sides of a torpedo and immediately escalated with the Doctors. We know he KNOWS how that possibility of death can push people from when the Donneger picked them up yet here he is being ugly as a person by not respecting their intelligence or empathy. He came off as arrogant like the doctors couldn’t understand the 5 w’s of the situation and didn’t try to be open until he forced the doctors into an extreme situation with his bs Kenzo-like game of make believe tough guy yet benevolent Mars captain. This was a huge failure on his part and maybe he half-way knows buuuuuuut… It’s also just a show and the writers needed to make a debris field happen in like a minute to break Miller’s missle lol Seriously though hopefully that failure pays off later in the show
Where are these girls from? I guess war in Ukraine has nothing to do with them if they have a chance to just do what they do without worries or any words regarding that catastrophy. But hey, at least we can enjoy some content as long as we're alive
Nothing beats watching people see this for the first time. Insane how it consistently gets better for the rest of this and next season.
Right there with you.
Yeah I'm remember being left speechless after the episode ended.
Yep and then it takes a massive nosedive in quality after season 4
I expect to hear a lot of *I'm honestly fucking shocked™* throughout this series

4 seasons in and I can say The Expanse is always a good time! We look forward to more
You guys are my current favorite Expanse reactors.
This show ❤️❤️❤️
Seasons 2&3 will never be topped by any other sci-fi series. Whole series is great and faithful to the magic of the books.
Agree. S2&3 is like one big 26 episode continuous story. Building up with each episode to a most satisfying S3E13 Finale.

honestly who the hell wouldn't like The Expanse, it's one of the very few extremely well done tv shows
