I love it all you young folks out and enjoying this favorite past time. i wpuld get out and watch if i could but its hard for me, but i shall live through your films!! thank u friend!!
Great video of your day at Cresson, Pennsylvania! Everyone who was participating in the day seemed to be enjoying themselves for the viewing of trains and the companionship of the railfanning community that was present. For a Sunday, you had a lot of train viewing. Thank you for putting this video together and sharing it with us!
Hello Railfan Rowan, It`s been a while since we`ve seen anything from you, I saw the first films from your hand again today, Beautiful to see those locomotives and the long freight trains passing by, I must say we missed you, I myself am also a machinist at the NMBS This is the Belgium Railways, Our freight trains are not as long as yours, But it`s always nice to experience the same as it goes with you, I should just ride with you sometime then it`s a party every day, But it`s such a long way from us to come over, But i hope that there will be more films from you now Rowan I`m happy to see you again on my Laptop My good Friend Your Belgium Friend Henk Van Zitteren❤😀😉
Hey Rowan! This particular video is the best I've seen to show to someone who doesn't understand what a railfan is. People sometimes ask me things like, "why do you drive 9 hours just to watch trains?", or "why go clear to Pennsylvania to watch trains?", or "what's it like to be a railfan?" "why do people call you a FOAMER"? I have sent this link to several friends who are just beginning to catch on. It is hard to explain until you stand 20 feet from a massive 4000 horsepower locomotive and feel the ground rumble below. Your video covers it well. Railfans have an instant brotherhood, there are no strangers. And, I really love to see so many young people getting excited about the hobby! be safe, .... Indiana Tom
Hi, I really like your Railroad videos!... great that young people like you like Railroads and show it off. - Many thanks for that... Greetings from Germany / EUROPE
Absolutely amazing sunrise! And it’s October.. Once again you out did yourself on your video! Fantastic.. Have a great rest of the weekend.. Congrats on 20K! Lots of support out here for ya bro.
Excellent video as always Rowan, loved every minute of it and it looked like a great turnout at Cresson, it looks like something that will be an annual event, well done mate.
13:07 I’ve met the guy at the handling of 36A (First Eastbound Manifest). He was on a stopped 23Z down in Derry, PA back in summer of 2020. Ironically I saw this train about 1 1/2-2 hours from when you saw. I had plans later that day or I would’ve been up in Cresson with ya!
hey rowan, if you do another rally in 2024, the amtrak and septa keystone corridor will be receiving new siemens mobility ALC-42 and SC-44 charger locomotives. Ardmore PA and Narberth PA are two great places on the corridor.
Awesome video Rowan! Looks like it was a great time! There are two Dash 9 locomotives I noticed that are a little special, at 18:25 that NS 9473 has made an appearance in an Avengers Movie before and at 21:58 NS 9585 was actually in a derailment in my area back in June.
Dude!!! That was sick! I really wanted to go up there from Texas... Awesome! Also NS 1001 that was leading that Ethanol train, my friend saw that train in Saginaw, TX! I only saw the end of that train.
Hey Rowan! Thanks for the invite, and congrats on 20K! We enjoyed the whole day. Even more fun that we can watch the day again and again... two full times through so far! Hope you do this again... we'll be there!
Rowan, GREX is Georgetown Railway Equipment Co. based here in Georgetown, Texas. I moved here after living and working in the DC area for several years when we moved here to Georgetown. I enjoyed railfanning the area around DC, but decided to move to Texas to retire. I enjoy watching your vids. Glenn Anderson.
this is pretty cool. for the last 10 years i wanted to see railfan videos reality TV style. i think this fits the bill. Nice to see so many railfans together. here in KS I'm always alone or with a friend or two. but never see group outings. Back in the 90's when the Santa Fe depot was still at Emporia, KS there used to be a lot of people watching trains there. But since the depot is gone not too many people go there anymore. Most people seem to railfan solo these days. and rely on social media to communicate.
Just flat ass amazing videos and very educational. We are grateful to be along for the ride. Thank you and keep the great videos and editing coming for us please. Love it when they blow some horns just for you and all the photographers out there in nasty weather.
Thanks for sharing another great video Rowan!! Its so great to see the younger fans with so much enthusiasm, makes me heart feel so good. Take care, stay safe and happy rail fanning!!
Awesome video I loved it. The last train of the day was Ns 741 he comes down to me on the ns s line goes to Catawba he gave me a SAAHC when he passed me to.
Hats off to ya Rowan, this video is your best yet - hanging with the fans! You're right up there with Danny Harmon in our book. Congrats on getting 20K!
You should come to Hershey PA sometime. It's the Harrisburg we get all kinds of trains there. Crews usually are cool there to. There's a local that pulls up and parks right at the crossing on a siding. My buddy was the engineer one time and he let me in the cab of his lead unit
Whew, need all foam buckets available ! Glad to see y'all out having fun. Thanks for the shout out for pt242.com I don't have anything to do with it but frequently chatted with one of the developers back in the early days. A really great group of guys !

Cool location, just east of Cresson is the Galitzen tunnels, which lead to horseshoe curve. Unfortunately, the museum in Altoona is closed due to the coronavirus.
Nice work; I'm going to subscribe. I was in Cresson once in July 2009. No other railfans were there at mid-day. The gazebo was there, but no toilet facilities. I see that there's a bunch of young railfans. Good.
Greetings from New Jersey! Been a while since I've commented on a video of yours, but I've been catching up on your older stuff. This one though is very good and looks like it was so much fun. Wish we had this kind of stuff growing up.
I was at Horseshoe Curve and the Gallitzin Tunnels the end of August. Enjoyed seeing the trains, but missed the coal train. Should've come over to Cresson. Visited Cresson before. You're seeing more than I did!!!!!!!!!
When are you gonna come up into Northwest Indiana to railfan? We’ve got the NS Chicago Line, the CN Matteson Sub, and the CSX Barr Sub, which are all fairly busy.
So happy you had a great railfan turnout. The Western Maryland Scenic RR 1309's restoration is almost complete. Get ready for the 1309's return to service next year!
I’ve seen Norfolk Southern (NS) Trains Lock Down Trains at Cresson and 2-3 Red RJ Corman Units hooked up to the Train the following day and apparently delivered it somewhere down the line.
Wow! What a turn-out! Looks like y'all had a killer time! Congrats again 20K! You earned every single one of them, no doubt about it. I love how railfan Rowan doesn’t worry about getting good shots of trains. He just haves fun and records the people there until the train gets close.
