The two damaged units were involved in the wreck on the Kentucky Division. There's a big lawsuit raging between NS, Georgetown, Kentucky, and the four people involved. It's still a big mess a year later.
Car & engines being carried in "099 Hi-Wide Special" starting at 11:30 must be really hosed if they can't even be pulled along the track. Excellent training. Cheers!
The R+L trailer at 6:34 is rather unusual. I'm a driver for them, and we don't run much intermodal, although that is starting to change. I've been getting several container trailers lately, mostly from Chicago to Youngstown. I've also been seeing more and more of our containers on trains running the Fort Wayne line in Ohio.
Never seen so many people cry clickbate when the thumbnail is actually in the video. He even goes as far as to let you know in the description as to which train the wrecked locos are on.
I noticed that those two first trains were heavy and could still go fast and Those trains needed helpers because the trains were in helper mode. I also noticed that the third trains lead unit was a SD90mac.
Can anyone please tell me how long crude oil tank cars have had white painted ends and is it a staged introduction like the yellow reflective strips were?
Why are there so many trains with helpers? I don't know where this is located exactly... are there many hills to climb? Or are those trains very heavy? Everything looks as usual as it can be - except for the many working horses at the train rear ends. Well, whatever reason causes this.. I really love locomotives as pushers
Not just the Allegheny Mountains -- Cresson is the point where helpers are cut off [westbound] and attached [eastbound] for the attack on Horseshoe curve.
This is Cresson PA. East of here is Altoona, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. Altoona is where NS' heavy repair shops are (formerly PRR/PC/Conrail). Altoona starts the real climb up the east face of the Allegheny mountains. This point is slightly west of the top of the grade down to Altoona. To the west, lies Johnstown, Pittsburgh, and points west. This is also a downgrade mainly between here and Johnstown. Depending on the train, helpers are needed on the ascent, and sometimes the descent down the other side either way. There is an engine serving facility visible when the first train passes through. Helpers are fueled and serviced here. It is also the start of a branch operated by R.J. Corman serving some of the coal mines in the area.
@@clinchfieldns Well, to me, "wrecked" means twisted frames, crunched in cabs, broken windows, etc. This looks like railroad equivalent of a F*cking "hangnail"! LOL
They were hit by a collision. They would remove the trucks and be put onto a destroyed wrecked flat car and put for later for repairments And put back into service.
This subject isn't "Wrecked Locomotives at Cresson". If it were, you'd have a valid complaint. The subject is "NS Pittsburgh Line Trains at Cresson" and the note about the wrecked locomotives is there to let a viewer know such an item is included in the video, but not the primary subject/purpose of the video, which again is NS trains at Cresson, PA.
The title and description combined describe exactly what is included in the video. There is nothing misleading whatsoever. Why wouldn't a unique move/locomotive be listed in the title to show that there is something unique included in the video? Again, the subject wasn't "Wrecked Locomotives at Cresson", which would be misleading if other stuff that wasn't that were included. How would you title it?
The title " w/ wrecked locomotives " was purely click bait. What a disappointment. I have a question though. Why do so many of the tank-car trains have a grain hopper car as first and last cars ?
MoonwolfeConsulting Its not clickbait if its in the video dip shit. The only way the length of the video would only be of the thumbnail is if the train isnt moving. I hate clickbate as much as the next guy but nothing in the title says that the video is only of the wrecked locos.
It is not clickbait, the wrecked locos are shown it’s a compilation and no where is says the video is only about wrecked locos. Next time READ CAREFULLY!
Excellent video, loving the rear SD-40s on the intermodal!
Love that shot from The Station Inn.
Stayed at the B&B up at Cresson several years ago. What a good place for a railfan. Nice front porch, scanner; nice place.
11:40 everybody knows this is what they were waiting for
Beautiful Hi-Def camera work!!
Awesome catch
I was on 9523 a few years ago got to blow the horn and stuff I heard it was rebuilt so I'm happy

A lot of the tankers come to central NJ, THEY are lined up along the NJ Turnpike.

So how'd it go? The lawsuit

Those containers started showing up on BNSF several months ago.
I saw those wrecked because I was in Altoona from July, 20 to the 22nd of 2018
Hey I'm not sure whose in charge of this but there's no damages to the Norfolk southern engines but there is some to The BNSF engine
Admiro. Los trenes de usa excelente el servicio de trailers sobre vagón muy interesante iniciativa excelente videos saludos desde Argentina

Brayden. Andusko 👍👍
It was a worst collision in history.
Thank you!!!

First time I see a locomotive being carried.
Train #7 had locos from Georgetown, KY. Akers is the block where it derailed.
LOL Locomotives. Wheelsets to follow
Good to Hear some EMD Locomotives
Yikes! What happened?
Great railfan video thanks.
Where are the wrecked engines???
David Davis 11:50
if the flatbeds carrying the locos derailed, would the locos be a wreck on a wreck?
Woah... That'd be loco!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I have been thinking of staying at the Station Inn for about three years and now I have retired. I may do it.
Do it.. You wont be disappointed.. I did it a couple of years back and cant wait to get back again.
I noticed that those two first trains were heavy and could still go fast and Those trains needed helpers because the trains were in helper mode. I also noticed that the third trains lead unit was a SD90mac.
Nope; an SD70ACe.
I never knew they had train tow trucks
But who else are you going to call
Excellent video 😁
Good job.
Can anyone please tell me how long crude oil tank cars have had white painted ends and is it a staged introduction like the yellow reflective strips were?
I stayed at the Station Inn in Cresson last night. I video camera is shooting from the front porch. Fantastic place to stay. Great staff as well.
I don't know about others, but I like counting trains! I couldn't on these takes.

This is in the Allegheny Mountains with some very steep grades requiring the use of those helpers.

Very nice job !! I feel like I'm there trackside !
That great railway footage. Rail fan dreams
I need to invest in spray paint!
Cool video man! I liked and subbed to your channel. Thanks for sharing 😃

Hola ivan !! Te invito a mi canal de trenes !!😉👍
Super video !!! Saludos desde argentina !!!
My favorite thing about it is that I have never been to the hole thing to do is to be a part of the locomotive driving and the switching points.
went to school just up the road from there in Loretto
Awesome great job,
Yeah, what's up at - 11:50 ???? A train on a train... They *don't* look wrecked like a guy indicated below...
JungleYT They were trust me......
@@clinchfieldns Well, to me, "wrecked" means twisted frames, crunched in cabs, broken windows, etc. This looks like railroad equivalent of a F*cking "hangnail"! LOL
Well, the third loco on a flatbed looked kinda charred in it's engine bay...
@@CardboardSliver Looked like road dirt to me on the third loco near the wheel well...

Sweet catches!
Get used to trains everybody. Alexandria Occasionally Coherent is going to have us all riding them instead of airplanes.
And powered by CCF, "Compressed Cow Farts"
Trains to Hawaii! How can that be possible? Only if George Carlin was still around to see this human debris the last 10 years.

11:50 IS RIGHT

How is the title click bait? The wrecked locomotives are at 11:52
They're used as buffer cars, as most of the tank trains are either crude oil or ethanol.
clickbait? he put them in the middle of the vid.
in event of an accident, the contents can be used to absorb the oil.
11 seconds of the footage promised in your thumbnail out of a total 17+ minute yawnfest equals CLICKBAIT!!!!!
