that hi dad at the end felt so impactful. you can hear the feelings from her voice - personally sounded like she was speaking to him like a teen would greet their father, just that she's now 100 years old.
its almost as if, the older tpeople get, the more the veil between reality and imagination or whatever else there is in the universe, starts to fade. She could really feel him

yea "before I was around" she's 100, it's hard to think of people living so long ago, even before 100 years ago taken and converted into a VR medium using a single photo@@katemurray7790
What was interesting is how the young ones who used it just thought it was cool but the older ones actually had a deeper reason to use the device, to feel like flying, to want to do things their body won't let them do anymore and to see their loved ones. They have said for a long time now that VR/AR should be used as a therapy tool in nursing homes where people can't get outside.
The 100-year old lady almost made me tear up, it was amazing to see her being able to meet her dad again, to feel as if he was right there next to her.
The production quality of this video, the sound design, visuals, editing, story is absolutely INSANE. It felt like I was watching a movie or a documentary from netflix, I am in absolute awe.
The part about the 100 year old lady definitely moved me at minute 10:34. Seeing a person who has been gone for a long time smiling, and so alive, but who is just an animated image. What wonderful technology!
"Hi dad" She still feels like the little girl who felt safe and proud, like a princess walking hand in hand with him. And he still sees her, his sweet daughter, who melts away all his struggles and worries every time he sees or hugs her. She is his most precious treasure, someone he would give his life for without hesitation. This what I believe every father who has healthy life with his family would feel.
I started watching this video with substantial skepticism... and ended it being very impressed with the discussion and peoples' reactions and considerations about the AVP's (and VR's in general) affect on society. I'm over 60, and love VR/AR... but I have mixed feelings about whether or not VR, etc., will be better or worse for society. I can see how it could be incredibly helpful for education and, ironically, even communication--but at the same time, I worry it will adversely affect the depth of those communications. Anyway, awesome video and discussion, Jack. Thank you... ❤
this felt like I was watching a cristopher nolan movie by the end of this aka Interstellar. The ending was so good i have no words. hats off on this amazing video 🤠
Not that surprising. It’s just history repeating itself. It was the same skepticism that people felt back in the 1900s when the internet was created or when smartphones really took off. Old people have already been through multiple technological revolutions, so they’re more accepting of this one while the younger people of today are saying what older people did back then
I think it is easy to see that the 20-40 bracket project their current addiction to smartphone, internet and social media to this product. They do not judge the headset but the way they consume media.
@@karthage3637I mean it’s obvious that this thing is going to destroy attention spans even more. Everyone will be living through the headset especially younger generations, no one will be present just present through their screens more so then they already are. Lots of opportunity but it comes at a cost, and I won’t be surprised if Apple uses this to collect more data on the human species.
That ending with the 100 year old did something to me and really made me understand by hearing it even though I already had an idea of what this would look like since the oculus OG came out. VRchat, Bigscreen, Virtual Desktop, Immersed, Sidequest, OVR toolkit, these things definitely bring it further than where I originally thought it was but I can't wait to see what's to come in the next 10 years.
For one, the 100-year-old was so wholesome. I'm not sure if I would even be able to take the headset away from her. Also, it's so hard to say it's so good in so many ways. It would definitely help kids engage in school. It would allow people to do things that they normally aren't able to do. If they are sick or if they have physical problems, it would allow people to experience things they can't normally afford. It would allow you to feel so immersed in so many things, but at the same time on the other hand, people would probably not interact with each other the same as normal I can see people honestly not even looking each other in the eyes as much, but overall I think this will be good for society
No way. Imagine everyone constantly completely zoned out - everywhere, all the time. Smartphones, but worse. Everyone is going to be so removed from their own world that society will cease to func- oh wait
"hi dad." It should've ended there for suspense, but to be true, that was emotional, truly emotional, so many years, when he had died there might've not been affordable technology to see him again, she's 100 now, testing out something that blurs the line between digital and reality... ...and sees his face in motion once again.
Personally, I believe this product will be a game-changer for our civilization as a whole, but can easily backfire into dystopia if overused and abused by corporate and legal authorities. The choices we make in the coming years in regards to this and other emerging technologies may very well define the future of humanity. Good video as always, keep up the good work :))
