It's crazy how many different combinations can be made with only a limited number of materia in the Remake. I'll definitely be using some of these for my 3rd playthrough later on. And that family video at the end...all I can say is: relatable. Ben is going to have one hell of a game to play when he gets older.
@@RanEncounter it'll probably be much more creative since they'll be adding more to the list. Although I'm sure synergy won't be coming back. I get the idea that it's more of a convenience to have it but it's kinda unnecessary. Sounds cool in theory but not so much during battle.

"Deadly Dodge blows" finally someone gets it. I like Deadly Dodge for the box challenges and skipping Tifa's first few attacks, but it's really not all that useful otherwise. When I built for my first hard mode run, Skill Master and Steadfast Block on everyone, ATB Assist and sometimes ATB Stagger on Tifa (not always useful) pretty much made ATB rain from the sky. I still believe Skill Master is sleeper OP and a lot of people pass on it for stuff like First Strike, even though First Strike only ever nets you 1 ATB bar and Skill Master can net you SO MANY more. You can have all of them I guess, but ATB Assist and Skill Master on Tifa is enough to make her feel amazing.

I think dusk or twilight is the correct translation in this context, Götterdämmerung means that the apocalypse is coming, including for the gods themselves...
So some notes about Chakra. Various weapons have a 50% boost to healing on them while HP is below 25%, which turns the 40% heal into a 60% heal. Doubling up as shown here results in 120% of a heal. Alternatively, the salvation badge accessory gives a 10% bonus to healing while under 25%, which makes the Chakra heal for a flat 100% if doubled at a time when your hp is sub 25%.
As always thanks for the content, your original video got me to really explore the game even more. Oh and I never used deadly dodge... never found it useful. The extra scene - man did I forget the tvs we used to have haha
I’ve already finished the game, but somehow I figured out all of these except for the instant death to limit break, crazy! Personally I think the magnify materia is incredibly powerful. Fire/magnify with the ATB start can allow you to instantly win a large amount of the field battles in the game, but for bosses you can switch to MP absorb and stack magic up materia to cast spells for virtually free.
im new and this is a lot of information, I watched my brother play the original in the late 90's, outside of being confused about what the matria is doing I am doing ok... I play Ys, but FF 7 remake is incredible game I am thrilled to play! Great game with a great look thank for the info!
One thing which is in both Remake and Original is that you can accidentally remove a materia. I wish there was a Button which lets you go back. It's like deleting a House in Sims and you can't press a button so you can go back.
Deadly dodge works really well with disorder. You can disorder into punisher mode full combo and cancel the finisher with deadly dodge. Builds lots of bar too.
ATB Assist doesn't work with Focused Strike IF you cancel the animation lock with Parry or a dodge. You can perform a regular or special attack afterwards, and the next Focused Strike will trigger ATB Assist however.

It initially wasn't, they changed it for Intergrade. The PS4 version required to have ATB and MP. They patched it for PS5, because they realized it blew, and made it a lesser version of the OG Mime
Deadly dodge has its own combo if you just hold the button down with Cloud. It’s pretty crazy because you can do the deadly dodge combo into disorder into punisher very smoothly.
You can also just use a regular dodge to cancel some of the recovery on Focus Strike. Not nearly as good as parry, but it saves a materia slot if you really need it.
For reference: gutter-demmer-rungg (I put two g's because you really need to pronounce that g instead of dropping it like English speakers usually want to). Twilight of the Gods. It's a Wagner opera in the Ring cycle, and is derivative of the Norse tale of Ragnarok.
Great Materia Guide. Very informative and I guess this is a complete list. Hope you bring us more FF7R Guides like your FF7Classic Guides etc. You should try out Barret with regen, lifesaver, asralcuf, entchanted ring with Aeriths Planets Protection. Makes the Party Almost invincible to anything. Maybe stack this with a few more buffs like manawall. ✌️✌️

Btw... do you really think Squeenix will actually keep our progress/level/materia from the first game for the sequel? I mean, they SHOULD cause it's the same game, but most people seem to think they will just gonna reset or lower our inventory and progress and treat it like a whole new game.......which would suck.
Still not sure, I think you have to take some stuff away or else the new game will be way too cumbersome, especially for new players (i know that sounds dumb but Square in the past always make sure new games are accessible to all, even if it is a direct sequel), but at the same time starting from absolutely nothing would be a bit of a letdown. I say keep some stuff, but idk how to really do that in a graceful way.

TBH I just think the Gotterdamerung is the only BROKEN item per se, and apart from that I think we could manage keeping the rest. But they should create new, bigger tiers for the materias and raise the level cap above 99, or else we wouldn't feel any progress.

i mostly played super safe with my hard mode run. two people with pray, all with revive and heal, all with steadfast block etc while i didnt ever die, fights did take a while sometimes. but a lovely lil "feck you" combo is arcane ward, fleeting familiar and ga+atb assist. lotsa people dont like fleeting familiar but it's REALLY good. early on it's not great but it's follow up spells scale with your spells. so while it doesnt seem it, it does have it's own fire, fira and firaga in terms of stagger and damage (though as far as i can tell it's actually non-elemental, so there's that) so Aerith by herself can cast 4 spells and FF lasts A LONG TIME. not only that, FF's spells count as normal hits for Aerith, SO SHE GETS ATB FROM THEM. this combine with ATB assist and atb ward = magic spam, the reckoning. granted thats quite a bit of work for a character that already nukes basically everything, but at the same time.... feck you Bahamut.
It’s boring but I did fire plus magnify and the fire plus mp absorb and first strike and magic up. Started each fight just casting firaga and getting most of that mp back and wiping the entire floor. Perfect for buzzing through mobs on hard mode since mp is at a premium. Fira is usually good enough for most mobs too

First strike may only net you one bar, but the one bar at the open can mean all the difference.

Synergy is great, you'll deal a lot of chip damage especially if it hits enemy weakness. Most importantly, Synergy spells are free to cast.
