Unfortunately, making the Superbia musical is pretty much impossible since the script is incomplete and Jonathan passed away. I heard some people tried, but couldn't really make it work.

It’s both funny and sad that a song written in 1990 as a part of a sci-fi piece suits our world so perfectly 30 years later. I wish someone had had the guts to produce this musical back then. Today it would be an even larger hit than Rent.

Basically, the show in the state it is right now would sadly not be recieved too well because most people won't catch the plot of it. Maybe not, I recall reading somewhere that the play had many story problems that weren't solved by Larson, so it won't succeed today if those problems aren't fixed.

Superbia actually wasn't as complete as Tik Tik Boom leads us to believe. There isn't enough of Johnathon Larson's notes for a whole production. They can't make sense of them.
Literally every track in this film is remarkable. Most movie musicals are great if half or maybe 2/3 of the track listing is great. One of the best Broadway film adaptations I've ever seen.

Well, for that somebody needs to actually be bold enough to finish it. Larson constantly rewrote and added stuff in all his works. There was never a finished version of Superbia. Or Tick, Tick, Boom. Or Rent, for that matter, he was still writing additional songs for it right until his death.

Absolutely obsessed with this since it was released in full. Listening on repeat for the past 48 hours. F Mixolydian is such a fun key! I'm sure that key change to A at the end has to be a Lin Manuel addition to wrap up the montage scene, but it works so well. I really wish there was a full version of the song in full from Superbia out there. Maybe some day we'll get it along with the rest of the musical. At least there's this gem in existence to whet our whistle in the meantime.

Larson worked on the show for many, many years. There are too many versions of it with revisions, changes, cut and added songs, and wholesale story changes to know what Jonathan would have wanted the show to be. It's my understanding that many have tried to piece the show together, but it's in such a state that there's no way to coherently mount a production without changing, editing, and reworking it extensively. And his family won't allow that to happen. So we are unlikely to see a finished Superbia show ever, unfortunately. At least from what I've seen and read. Though with Tick Tick Boom, we've gotten a lot of the best parts of the show, and thats a wonderful tribute to his genius in and of itself. 😁

I really want Superbia Live on Broadway to be a thing. But if it weren't for the non-screening of Superbia we wouldn't have Tick Tick Boom, or maybe even Rent. Then again, if the Broadway Industry would have been more open minded then maybe Jon Larson would have been able to produce more stuff and would be celebrated just like Sondheim while he was alive. Then maybe he would have taken better care of himself and wouldn't literally die doing what he loved.

Please somebody pitch this idea to Lin- Manuel Miranda I think he has both the Talent and Passion enough to bring this story alive successfully. I felt in love with the movie and the story of this artist i felt it so relatable and the movie was produced with such passion and care. It even got me interested to look into more of the Superbia story. Maybe it can be made into a similar film as tick tick boom or a limited live musical production with the same Cast of the movie. It wold be wonders especially in this era of influencers and social media.... I think it would also give good closure to Him who never got to see it succeed but we did. It got to see the light of day and succeeded.

The tick tick boom movie is one of the few musical movie adaptations that really goes deep. The acting is terrific.

Being that they are singing about taking the main character's music box to an award show, I could see the music box being like the UA-camr's Wintergaten's musical "Marble Machine X" when preforming (If they ever do produce "Superbia" on Boardway, we could only pray)

It legit makes me tear up listening to this - because he never got to see this show produced, and it never was even after his death.
Please somebody pitch this idea to Lin- Manuel Miranda I think he has both the Talent and Passion enough to bring this story alive successfully. I felt in love with the movie and the story of this artist i felt it so relatable and the movie was produced with such passion and care. It even got me interested to look into more of the Superbia story. Maybe it can be made into a similar film as tick tick boom or a limited live musical production with the same Cast of the movie. It wold be wonders especially in this era of influencers and social media....
I think it would also give good closure to Him who never got to see it succeed but we did. It got to see the light of day and succeeded.
