not completely fake as his father had an american accent so he picked it up during his childhood so it's not that hard for him but yeah still impressive
Also, when Brits sing, they tend to lose the accent most of the time. Take Adele for example, listen to her songs, u can't notice an accent. During interviews or other appearances tho, she has a strong accent. It's just kind of a vocal thing that happens, not necessarily that he tried singing without one.
AFAIK, American English is the standard "singing" English accent. Something about it being more sonically pleasing when sung than another accents. So perhaps Garfield's singing was the part that was most practiced, accent-wise
@@thomasmontesano6059 I’ve kind of noticed that too. There’s been a few cases where I’ll find a new singer and when I see an interview I’m blown away by their accent. In this case it was a really heavy accent too!
A lot of British singers usually sing in an American accent to begin with, so I can assume it's usually easier to do that anyway. Regardless Andrew was incredible in this
I love the fact that andrew and this movie expresses how John does in his shows like the face expression and stuff. Andrew garfield is such a good actor like in spiderman he can express how he is feeling with gestures and it shows that he does that in spiderman with his mask
I notice the longer the argument goes on the faster the music gets and the more robotic yet animated the singers get, like: "HEY FOCUS ON THE FUNNY SINGERS' FACES!" It's pretty impressive and thought out tbh.

To be fair he is half american
A lot of British singers usually sing in an American accent to begin with, so I can assume it's usually easier to do that anyway. Regardless Andrew was incredible in this
the "you" at 3:44 is so underrated, idk it just sounds perfect to me
I love the fact that andrew and this movie expresses how John does in his shows like the face expression and stuff. Andrew garfield is such a good actor like in spiderman he can express how he is feeling with gestures and it shows that he does that in spiderman with his mask
Lin Manuel is a freaking genius, this was terrific
You spelled JONATHAN LARSON wrong.
it's Jon Larson...
Yes, Larson’s song is great, the screenplay was also really good, I’m talking about Lin’s direction but also Vanessa and Andrew were outstanding
This scene was directed so well, I keep coming back to it
I notice the longer the argument goes on the faster the music gets and the more robotic yet animated the singers get, like: "HEY FOCUS ON THE FUNNY SINGERS' FACES!" It's pretty impressive and thought out tbh.
3:36
"I thought you THOUGHT I REAAAACTED"
Ive looped this so many times its beyond perfect
I loved this sequence. Andrew and Vanessa did a phenomenal job. Incredible movie!
Edit: And now Andrew is nominated for so many awards. Couldn’t be happier! If only the movie got a Best Picture nomination 😕
3:00 is the best part idc
The singing was FANTASTIC and their arm gestures were so perfect 😂 And “Everyone’s unhappy in New York! That’s what New York is!” is the best line
The cut to Andrew's subtle change in expression at 4:23 is an insanely impressive way to show his regret in thinking about turning the moment into a song
Andrew is so god damn good. Dude made me fall in love with him all over again with this film. He nailed this😭
I absolutely LOVE Andrew, and though Vanessa didn’t talk in the actual story, boy can she sing. I love this so much.
This is just heartbreaking. But damn he's talented
Ik seeing him leave marvel but he might return to Spider-Man no way home
@@fakeyoutuberspolice5966 No... Im talking about his performance in this song is just gutting. Its dope that he might be in No Way Home but I'm focussing on this amazing performance
@@JakeGoesOnline yes ikr it's so sad seeing him betray marvel
@@fakeyoutuberspolice5966 Dude. Not everything is about Marvel
@@JakeGoesOnline yes it bc he started his career in marvel
1:50 He got that
this song and scene are mad underrated
Love that you can't really tell what they were arguing about, and the song makes fun that their are 12 degrees of separation between what they are arguing about and what they are actually telling.
I love this whole song but 3:10 onwards, wow *chef’s kiss*
This movie was soooo good-
And that's coming from someone who normally hates musicals. Andrew Garfield is just 👌
andrew literally makes the entire film he's in perfect idc what anyone says he's literally perfect
@@hannah-v4l damn right 😂
I think that this movie will change a lot of people's opinions about musicals. If they take the chance to watch it, of course. I liked musicals all my life but this one found a special place in my heart.
I'm in love with Vanessa. She did amazing job with Andrew
this scene gives me such anxiety and makes my heart beat super fast, like it makes me feel horrible but it's my favourite part I LOVE IT SO MUCH
i lved this scene so much, the amount of emotion andrew garfield and alexandra show before switching to the song where they show almost no emotion gives goosebumps
This guy named Andrew is a love, not in a gay way but his expression his talks, the way he express he is happy without being. Happy to k ow being you Andrew ❤
Just saw the film, was fantastic! Andrew deserves an Oscar!! he gave an amazing, outstanding performance!! This scene is brilliant!
Andrew and Vanessa made me fall in love with musical films. That's how mindblowing and amazing this performance is. R.I.P. Jonathan Larson.
Andrew deserves an Oscar, nobody could have done it better than him.
I'm not the biggest fan of musicals, but I can't get enough of this scene, much less Andrew's great work and superb acting. It's really excellent !!
1:18 the head tilt andrew does is kinda creepy lol
4:16
This is literally my favorite part of the song
The fact this scene didn't win an Oscar is horrible and injustice.
This scene was so well done
Lin-Manuel Miranda + Andrew Garfield + Vanessa Hudgens = Perfect Musical.
Vanessa's smile is so spot-on
"After the workshop" ... I'll never forget the reaction for this song ... Amazing performance
This scene was AMAZINGGGGGGG!!!! Their performance is BRILLIANT!!!!!
Andrew Garfield’s lack of singing experience definitely stood out next to Vanessa Hudgens. I’d have expected more vibrato at 0:54, for example. But luckily his acting more than made up for his singing, and it didn’t distract from the movie.
Because that's literally what it sounded like in the original version. No vibrato
Everything is this is perfect but Vanessa take it to another level.
This was my favorite scene in the movie. The editing and choreography is simple brilliant.
Yeah, should win best editing movie
Vanessa has never failed to disappoint me since 2006
Wdym shes great here
@@incognitospider330 yeah I know she amazing in here that’s why she has never disappointed me she has always been amazing
This song is like beyond masterpiece. Everything is perfect.
They both deserve all thr awards for their performances
we were blessed with andrew's work this year, truly blessed.
3:35 is THE best part of the song. not up for debate. andrew's voice is ANGELIC.
Garfield is one of the most genuine/real actors. And his charisma!!!More Andrew Garfield please.
Here after his oscar nomination was announced. Well deserved!!
Lyrics:
I feel bad, that you feel bad
About me feeling bad, about you feeling bad
About what I said, about what you said
About me not being able to share a feeling
If I thought that what you thought
Was that I hadn't thought about sharing my thoughts
Then my reaction to your reaction, to my reaction
Would have been more revealing
I was afraid that you'd be afraid
If I told you that I was afraid of intimacy
If you don't have a problem with my problem
Maybe the problem's simply co-dependency
Yes, I know, that now you know
That I didn't know, that you didn't know
That when I said "No", I meant "Yes, I know"
And that now I know that you knew, that I knew you adored me
I was wrong to
Say you were wrong to
Say I was wrong about
You being wrong
When you rang to say that
The ring was the wrong thing to bring-
If I meant what I said
When I said, "Rings bored me"
I'm not mad, that you got mad, when I got mad
When you said I should go drop dead
If I were you and I'd done what I'd done
I'd do what you did
When I gave you the ring having said what I said
I feel bad, that you feel bad (I feel badly)
About me feeling bad, about you feeling bad (about you)
About what I said, about what you said (feeling badly about me)
About me not being able to share a feeling (feeling badly about you)
I thought (if I thought that what you thought)
You thought (was that I hadn't thought about sharing my thoughts)
I reacted shallowly (then my reaction to your reaction, to my reaction)
When I reacted to you (would have been more revealing)
I'm not mad, that you got mad, when I got mad
When you said I should go drop dead
If I were you and I'd done what I'd done (if I were you)
I'd do what you did when I gave you the ring (but I'm not you)
Having said what I said (said what I said)
But now it's out in the open
Now it's off our chest
Now it's 4 a.m.
And we have therapy tomorrow
It's too late to screw
So let's just get some rest
Lin is already a legend. Everything he does is masterful, and if I ever have children, I'm gonna make sure that they admire him like I do.
How is it that every movie Andrew is in he absolutely nails the acting?!
