@@fantasmiko9635 my 300 has 52. 2 strokes produce more on the whole. 450X=48 450L=36 looked it up. Now weight...450L=289lbs vs 450x=250lbs. I live in Cali and have a 450x WITH a Cali plate. So its not impossible to find. Plus weight vs go the X wins. Plus the suspension...it's made for dirt...firmer. That only plays well into the street performace as well. I'd rather a KTM 350F but as far as a Japanese bike the 450X kills it. Def over a hack 450L. Don't waste your money like I did and have to backtrack to a 450X. IMHO
It sticks way up past the crossbar or higher then the bars basically. He’s referring to it getting nagged by a tree branch I’m assuming. Never had an issue with that and have 3500km on my 450L and my hand guards have bashed a lot of trees in the single track trails. Just installed my yosh system and JD jetting programmer.
I found the weight to be mostly on top which makes it not very fleckable at all. The weight vs 450x is around 60+lbs more. For single track fleckabilty is key. Also throttle response as well as torque is spongy at best. A husky is the truest dual sport that you can take on single track. Then the shocks. Horrible and soft. Not even close to firm enough to rely on for techinal single track. This bike flat out is a city commuter that you can take on a green run. Any other use and you should think about another choice. The 250L and 450L are made for begginers that want a low seat height and a easy bike to learn basics. Past that get a bike that you can lift up once you down it. Review was not quite what I rode. I owed one now I have a 450x and a KTM 300 2t. Sold my L after only 2mo due to it not doing well on hills, not having any torque even when clutch popped and the weight vs horsepower was atrocious.
It would have been easier to ad a vortex and fmf full exhaust. Night and day difference. I ride an 08 crf450r, as well. So I ha e that for racing. I rode a ktm on the street and my teeth almost rattled out of my head

Robert Lacroix: Depends on where you live and what regulations your state has for street legalizing off road bikes. The L is wayyyy overpriced for what you get IMO. If you must buy street legal from the factory, the exc-f and fe are better out of the box for serious off-road use....and prices are similar to the 450L. Would argue that the KTM and Husky dual sports are better stock than the X for off-road. Can’t beat Honda reliability though.
@@1cbsmithsanjuan Thanks, I am pricing out a 500 EXC-F currently. In MA it's hard to find places to ride so I generally truck the bike to NH to ride. I would say it would be about 90% off road / 10% road since I have a Harley and a CBR600 for the road already. Just nice to know I can drive it down the street for gas or for quick sprints to the store, etc. My local dealership is offering me a 2019 L for $9800 out the door. Waiting on a price from my local KTM dealer.
600 miles is a pretty long day on any bike but we hear what you're saying. In reality this motor is very similar to the MX motor. Everyone wants lighter, more power etc. Lower oil capacity is the trade off. Also, it's a manual spec that is very much on the safe side as that is Honda's way. They also call for a new piston every 20 hours or something like that. If you keep an eye on it and aren't abusing it, you should be able to get more than 600 out of it. But it's a judgement call just like anything else.
Had enough cash to buy any bike I wanted, but chose the Honda. Can't stand having to repair basic stuff on the KTM. After all this time I woulda thought KTM coulda built a reliable bike. Oh well, maybe in 20 or more years they'll learn how to. Also, nobody can touch the Showa suspension on the Honda.
No, I’m pretty certain, I bought it and returned it. Where is your weight measurement? At this point you have no credibility...If you can’t do such a basic metric what is your “opinion” worth?
621 mile oil change? So I have to change the oil 2 to 3 times a week if I want to actually ride it? I want to ride a motorcycle, not pretend I work at jiffy lube! Eff you Honda! Hello Suzuki DR-Z400S with your 3,000 mile oil changes! I will be riding you from Alaska to Argentina... then I may ship you to South Africa and ride you to England and from there to Singapore!
They also call for a top end every 10 hours. There is a more realistic distance that just requires making a judgement call. Everyone wants more performance, lighter weight... well there are trade offs. Compromise is the name of the game.
UPSHIFT ONLINE I want to ride a motorcycle, be able to go well off road, and get to whatever is on the other side.... I’m not racing it and so shouldn’t have to have a pit crew for it....
I just shake my head at these little thumper chicken chasers. If you want peerless dual sport performance on the tarmac and off it, look no further than the BMW Gs series
When you are done with banning bikes like that from nature what is next on your list to ban? Cars, trucks, planes, vessels, military plane and ships. How many gallons a week an aircraft carrier needs to fulfill all flying operations? What about golf, why they have so lovely greens? What about swimming sport, heating an cleaning the water. What about all the luxury boats? Did you ever have a short view on flight radar 24? In short words: what about all the stuff a lot of human beeing are doing for years? Yes Sir, no respect! Better for us to teach you guys what respect means!
Definitely and apples/oranges comparison. If you want a machine that is racing oriented... go with the 500. If you want a dualsport that is really ready to clock a lot of miles... 450L. We usually tend to choose the 500/501 but we also do a fair amount to set them up for the particular use case. Where we live in Idaho, the 500 is great as an ADV lite and we lean on the 350 or 300 two strokes for trail riding. But the 450L has been very good to a lot of people. Lower cost of ownership too. John T Young uses his as an ADV Lite and put a lot of miles on it. Check out his story in Issue 74 - bit.ly/2issu74q
The 2021 model will be a 450RL and they correct the throttle to be a bit more easy to control in technical trails and also on the streets

@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE was a tad too much. After visiting a dealer, sitting on the smaller bikes and thinking” I’ll be disappointed with the power difference”, I decided to just keep the big orange. I’ll just tune the front forks better.
How many horsepower has it got?
The 250L is 18hp the 450 prob around 30 at best. And heavy AF. Get a 450X vast improvement
TreeTownSeeds only 30hp? My husqvarna wr 125 2009 has got 34hp
IMHO
@@TreeTownSeeds i'm not sure, Who prefers japanese bike or KTM, Husqvarna...?
What is losing money?
American version is 38 to the wheel 42 at the crank. The euro spec is 24 to the wheel 28 to the crank.
its not fast or setup properly but it only cost 11 grand haha
Everyone's a critic!
UPSHIFT ONLINE
Everyone is a critic when there is something to criticize.... like oil changes every 620 miles for a street bike....
What do you suggest in this category for less?
@@gt7500 I think the KTM 690 Enduro R is comparable in price, but has 6000 mile service intervals.
Brake cable is scary for woods
Not sure we are following...
TreeTownSeeds Some guys like fat chicks with lots of red lipstick.
It would have been easier to ad a vortex and fmf full exhaust. Night and day difference. I ride an 08 crf450r, as well. So I ha e that for racing. I rode a ktm on the street and my teeth almost rattled out of my head
Ride on Sunday atm on Monday
Ktm is like a Chinese clone of a Honda
At least get a husky. Ktm =no rear linkage or subframe lol

@@rcinoc3948 the KTM was not tuned well. My 2t is smoother then my 4t. No vibration.
This simply isn't true. The RL is 16# more than the X (a far cry from 60#) per Honda. Where did you get your specs?
Torn between this and the X. Such a tough decision.
Get the L
Street legal offers a lot of convenience for a lot of people.
Get the X. You'll out grow the L in a second plus it's more $
where in idaho, i live in boise and love the trails here
Towards Idaho City.
Worse part of that bike is the seat.
We ran a Seat Concepts comfort seat and it's a huge upgrade.
Whats that thing like 300 lbs with fuel
296 with the 3 gallon tank full and the stock pipe. Swapping the pipe drops close to 7 pounds.
I do like Easter Creek!
For the tubless you need a 120 psi compressor. No problem, everyone has one.
quietsignal I just use a cheap pump for a push bike, no problems. Tubliss rocks. I’ll never go back.
What are you up to? Trolling?
I’ve got a KTM and a Honda and the Honda is more suited to the road the KTM is more suited for the bush
Yep! We love the CRF450L for dirt roads and some trail and the KTM for trails and some dirt roads.
Are you talkin' shaved Bush or full amazon
In addition you have to drill holes in the expensive rims to install...
Are you whining again?
You'll remove some of that 15 lbs. from installing that Tubliss!
Tm300.
???
That is in a different video. This is "CRF450L"!
I love this bike but the 600 mile oil change is ridiculous. You can ride 600 miles easily is a day
600 miles is a pretty long day on any bike but we hear what you're saying.
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE yeah for sure , that makes sense . It really is a street legal crf450r . For the most part.
This guy isn’t making any money promoting the tubliss crap.

Well, thank you for watching anyway and for commenting. You have helped propel this video further!
Who the hell is running Honda lately??? They blew it on Enduro bikes and side by sides
Please elaborate.
Slow = reliable
Oh well, buy the hondoo if you can’t afford the KTM and spend the 4K on tools and mods.
If I remember correctly the tubeless insert weighs almost 15 pounds! No thanks!
Not even close. Weighs about the same as a HD tube.
Ok, so put it on the scale...I am guessing pretty well documented? And your proof is where?
Sorry, but I was going for a Scorpa 300 Factory. I was mortified. Got my money back...what a scam.
No, I’m pretty certain, I bought it and returned it. Where is your weight measurement? At this point you have no credibility...If you can’t do such a basic metric what is your “opinion” worth?
Tubliss 4.75 lbs. Michelin UHD 18 inch tube 2 lbs. My mistake.

I ride bikes too but these bikes should be banned from nature. No respect

This or the Ktm 500???
