I use my 1500RP for sealer, 5000RP for solid basecoat, 5000HVLP for metallic basecoat, and 5000RP Phaser for clear coat. All 1.3's and love them. Still got my old Sata Jet's though!
Great stuff👍🏻 I love my Sata’s and always have, I’ve had them all and still have a ton even though I haven’t painted in almost 10 years ( a heart attack changed that 🫤) I was at it for 27 though and from the Jet 90’s to the 4000’s I always used Sata. I’m looking to get back at it for a while and I’ll use them again, I miss it. I’d love one of those x5500’s!
Excellent info…very informative!! I have SATA 5500x 1.4 O and I definitely love it…atomization is great along with transfer efficiency. I ended up getting this particular setup after looking at a UA-cam video review that you, and Jon Kosmoski and another did. It was initially a dedicated base gun, but after looking at the video again I heard you all say that it sprayed clear coat pretty well. So when I finally decided to do a clearcoat application with I can definitely say I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! Thanks much for the very informative vids… I’m still considering investment in the RP because I figured that the RP was better for clear after hearing so many people say. If the HVLP sprays this well I imagine that RP would be even better!
So frustrating. 90% of this video is about HVLP insted of an actual side by side explanation of HVLP and RP. RP was literally mentioned only twice in this video.... 😮💨

I have Satajet 5000 1.2 mm RP, I would like to buy Satajet HVLP for base coat,,, or can I just buy a HVLP nozzle set and use it on my RP? Are spray gun nozzles interchangeable? I found various information on the internet
If the fan pattern measures 12 inches from tip to tip at 6 inch distance then my 75 percent overlap should be 3 inches or am I missing something sorry I'm trying to perfect my overlap on my paint jobs

Would you recommend an HVLP or RP? Which gun will atomization best, if the air pressure at the air cap is 7 psi on both guns?
I’ve noticed how much my 5500 RP just seems to use up so much material and there is a lot of overspray. How can I resolve this ?I still don’t understand how HVLP is different from RP or HTE
Same over here , I use a dv1 for the sealer though using a 1.2 , a lot less overspray then the sata but I also spray it at 17 psi . Spraying ultra 9k as of now
I got a question I was sold a used sata 5000b hvlp gun with a 1.3 RP tip and needle I haven’t gotten the chance to use it yet the guy that sold it to me swore it worked amazing is this even right ? Is it now a RP or a hvlp still or a hybrid ? What changes exactly
The air cap center hole clearance to the fluid nozzle is the main difference between hvlp and rp. I would think yours will be very close to hvlp. I only have rp's, can't check to see nozzle difference.
What are you spraying? You can use rp for base for example I spray water spies hecker hi tech and they recommend sata rp 1.2 for base. I have the 5500 rp1.2 i and 1.2o I also have the 5500 rp1.3i which i have found is the best for clear. But that doesn’t mean u can’t use it for base. Check your tds sheet for what paint your using and worst case you can always close the fluid adjustment so it doesn’t put out as much material
@@Tyler.56 Thank you, I painted a base coat with a rp gun before. It leaves a bit of residue. It darkens. I had to sand in some parts. Now I bought a 5500 1.3I hvlp. Now I have a hvlp and a rp.

Looking to upgrade my sata jet 95, it sprays pretty good. The fan if I open it all the way it does not spray well,it needs to be opened 3/4.

Rp clearcoat 2k base primer wet on wet hvlp only waterbase.. Sata jet 5500x the best gun!!!! The best nozzle for me 1.2 I🔝🔝🔝🔝🇬🇷🇬🇷
