Job looks good as usually. On those mid coats reduce it to 35% dries much faster, that’s was my reduction for them. As for the dye backs, few things possible, sealer if hasn’t flashed long enough or to slow of a reducer or to wet, I found it can cause dyes backs as it is gassing out slower then the water. or the base is still to wet from multiple coats and not dehydrated before the next. I know my ppg rep told me that you recoat after it flashes, but I found out it goes by much quicker when the viscosity is on point and the last coat is dehydrated before the next. I will use a infrared temp gun, take a reading before my first coat of base, and make sure I have the same after flashing it before the 2nd coat, and the same for my drop coat, once the panel is the same temp as you started, you clear 30-40 secs after the drop coat. I was also told in the 3m pod filters, the reason for the blue ones or finer ones, was that the reg ones the strainers were glued on with a water soluable glue and would deteriorate as you go, where as the blues would not and design specifically for water base. If I’m not mistaken, but I think sata has 2 different ones to.
You are the man Mr Gunny the clearcoat mixing specialist😎😅I couldn't afford the complete CC gun so just got the 1.3CC tip set for my X5500 RP and I just love it as it lays the clear perfectly, a friend of mine who has the same gun has a tool (no not a knob😁) that's capable of measuring the size of a hole and he told me that the 1.3CC is actually a 1.1mm which doesn't surprise me as it's slower than my 1.2i tip set for my X5500🤔🤷♂I really don't know why Sata does this with their tip sizes🤦♂ Anyway mate another superb job from the Gunman, loving your work brother👏👌👍John UK
Gotta love spraying with RPS. Vented cup is so superior. I used to full dip Ford Exscursions all at once, definitely not old but that's a young man's game 😅. Great work Gunny.
Mr Gunman. I have watched about all of your videos. I am fixing to paint my first candy paint job. I have two brand new guns. One is a Sata 4000b rp, older but still in the box. The second is a brand new devilbliss flg5 which I have seen you use. Both have 1.3 tips . My question, which gun should I use to lay the candy and the clear. Thanks in advance and I will thank you again after your answer. Sincerely, Phillip Hall
I got a question. Is mixing old paint with new a good idea? For instance, let's say you did a job with a specific paint code and years later, you have to do another job with that same paint code, but you don't have enough to do the whole job. You order more. Would it be a good idea to mix the new with the old?
@@TheGunmanChannel The paint is $70/pint. It's Omni plus PPG. I have a little more than half a pint left. I got another pint because I feel that I will need more than half a pint. I've got to cover a front bumper and fender, plus I will have to blend into a door and the other fender. I feel that if don't mix them, I will have two different shades of paint. If I mix them from the get-go it will be all one shade.
@@lizardking8388 in that case, I would spray the colour to check it, it may be the case that the old colour is better, if it needs to match you could put one coat of the new stuff down for coverage, then put one of the old on. If it doesn't need to match and you think you'll run out then yeah just mix them as long as they're both the same kind of paint
@@TheGunmanChannel There is none of the old paint left on the car as those panels were destroyed in a wreck. Is it possible that one is a better match just by chance? Maybe, but wouldn't it be very difficult to tell if one is a better match without putting clear on it?
What would you rate a best gun for clear coat, for flattest finish? Im pretty happy with gti pro lite, bought it because of you and it still serves me awesome, very versatile gun! But id like another gun now, because I only have 1, and id like it to be only for clear coat.
Depending on the clear you use, I would either recommend this gun or the DV1 C1 1.2-1.3 if it's a thicker clear go for the C1 1.3, otherwise if it's a thin clear go for the 1.2
what is the shop name this guy works in. I need 3 cars repainted and re cleared from Sydney. The industry here in Sydney is mainly run by people from a certain sector of the cummunity who are not licenced and i am sick of shonky jobs, the last job i had done had 3 runs longer than my arm and the car was delivered to me like that. Dust in basecoat, runs, painting over rubbers, overspray, straight edge masking, cheap primers, cheap clear, filthy spray booths and many of these shops have no insurance. So if your Camaro or HK Monaro you have had since 1977 gets knocked off off BAD LUCK. I can take my 3 cars to Victoria, fly back and know its being painted with results. I have 1 Camaro that was repainted, has mottle on the front guard, and door and a run thats 450mm long, sink back on 3 repairs, and the clear coat is milky, car repainted 2020 and never driven since. my Wifes i30 hatch in silver needs roof and bonnet painted, re clear entire car, My 1993 GMC C1500 pickup full respray same colour and strip the roof and bonnet, pickup is 4 inches wider and 6 inches longer than a VE commodore wagon.
@TheGunmanChannel Hey, thanks for the rely. I've been painting architectural signage for ten years now, and you and your channel have really helped me further my career during this time!
Hi, great job. About the SATA's nozzle i got x5500 1.2I/ 1.3I and CC 1.3I. Tne CC 1.3 is a little bit larger than 1.2 on x5500 but smaller than 1.3I i also have 1500B 1.3 RP and the nozzle is smaller even from 1.2 I on the x5500. I cant undurstand why from SATA puts this numbers but they are not actual milimeters. Regards
Started my career watching gunman and learning so much, always grateful and happy to see gunny doing good and still making videos
Appreciate it mate, thanks

Hey look up Sata Adam2. It’s the Sata Micrometer that attaches to the back of the gun it’s a bit of money but worth it
I think they work great 👍
Hell yea brother always a good friday when you got a gunny vid to watch. 🤘
That is a firecracker of a spray gun !

Are they forcing you to use waterborne paints in the industry yet?

I don't think it would hurt but I would avoid it unless I felt I needed to

На самом деле у SATA отверстия не 1.2 а больше, это можно проверить сверлом по металлу
This gun or Sagola 4600 xtreme?
For clear probably this, but for build quality and durability sagola
