- Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel, Biutiful, and now Birdman. These are the feature films of Alejandro Iñárritu, who came up as a theater student, not a filmmaker. He returns to his theater roots and has delivered his first comedy to smashing critical success. He talks to David Poland about the journey, about his depression leading to Birdman, the production, and more.
Shot in New York, October 2014

love when he talks about the actual accomplishment of just making the film alone. that he was proud of it regardless of what reception it received because it was a risk and something different for him. what a wonderful director and interview, thank you!
a real genius of this age alejandro gonzalez iñarritu really is----simply a Genius ,,,amazing movie never saw a thing so incredible like this...hopefully his movie is nominated and can take a oscar .....he deserves really it.
this guy has such a chemistry with the talents he interviews i could watch these all day
One of the best directors out there today.
is it somehow humanly possible to get the cinematographer of birdman, emmanuel lubezki, on dp30?
Getting a DP on a show called DP/30? That's just silly
Hes the real genius not this bozzo.
I will recommend you guys watching the Movie, Amores Perros, what a great movie.
Amazing director and top guy!
I love Alejandro’s work on introspection.
Hope its two years in a row when a Mexican director wins the best director academy award!
I'm waiting for that too. Actually, the most powerful enemy of Birdman (Cast, director, cinematography) it's Boyhood. I wait that Alejandro wins. (Sorry for my english, i'm mexican jaja)
Claro!
BOOM I WAS RIGHT BITCHES XD
noah clark BOOM!
+noah clark Could be three if The Revenant lives up to expectations.
He should've won the call "Oscar" with Amores Perros. He:s always underrated
ALEX, YOU MY HERO AND THE MOVIE WAS MAJESTICALLY GREAT!!!
I like how some "o sea" slip in his English.
+Ismoísta that means in spanish "I mean"
Birdman is a great film. For any aspiring movie please watch it. Truly amazing.
He might win Best Director, I can feel it.
Dude! You felt it!
Ollie Maltby
Hahaha yes, It was nice to see him win :)
What a filmmaker
Loved Babel. Birdman was only the second of his films I've seen.
Babel was the third movie of his "death trilogy". i really recommend watching the first two. Amores Perros and 21 Grams.
when i came out of babel at the teather, most people was like lon boring movie, and i got upset because i love it, it make me fell sad for how we humans are so alike an so dsitant from each other for language and nationalitys, iam glad you like ti to
Docktor Jim must check out "Amores Perros".... this is what put him on the map, and many think he deserved foreign movie of the year with it, in 2001.
who have notseen that one is like the one movie that revolucion mexican cinema
true. movie sucks you in and those dog fights look crazy real. i can't wait for his next movie The Revenant.
kick ass movie, don't understand all the YouTUbe negative reviews that I saw and almost made me stay away from the movie but as usual lots of people don't know what the fuck they are watching.
Critic reviews were great.
agree favorite movie of 2014
His teeth are fucking perfect. A little too perfect.
Definitely one of my favourite directors of all time, quite possibly my absolute favourite. Birdman was actually maybe my least favourite of his films, but it was still absolutely brilliant.
I feel the same way. I have very much respect for this man.
Beautiful Alejandro González Inarritu😜😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏
awesome awesome awesome!!!
What an interesting person he is.
I reported the comment about "white Mexicans" and busboys, It looks like a couple comments on the comment have also disappeared. Unfortunate overall.
Legend!!
EMMANUEL THATS TRUE MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR WACHING, AGREE WITH YOU, BECAUSE THE MOVIE IS GREAT!
So interesting.
Jeopardy brought me here about the Oscars.
Ken Jennings made a reference to him aside from Ang Lee.
Endless spaghetti
I'd love to watch this, are there any spoilers?
Sorry camera man, but I prefer the locked off camera like in this interview. Nice lighting though!
great movie why because i didnt think im watching actor, i was watching real people that's what i love ,,as for neg comments are what the hell that's life if we all loved the same things how fucking boring ..and we would have nothing to talk about lol
The audio is very strange here, but good interview nonetheless.
Sounds like a phone is vibrating at the beginning
Inception..?
Amores Perros = Take that lame HOLLYWOOD movies with happy endings. "YAY the little CRIPPLE BOY, NOBODY WANTED in their team, JUST WON, against all odds, The Cy Young award" type of movies.. Love that NO ONE was happy in end of Amores Perros... The only one that came close was the ex guerrilla - beggar who stole the money in the car accident,, However, he did NOT make nice with his daughter.. Plus, he lost all of his dogs to the ROTTWEILER who kill all of his dogs.....
He had a bottle of ciroc?
he is 50? if he dyed his gray hairs he would look 40.
some people embrace their age
"Little kids doing selfish"
That misproununciation just adds to the meaning. So good.
