    PDGA really needs to start a certified coaching program and you should be the first Director of Coaching. Train experienced players to be certified coaches and watch the sport grow, and people would start getting proper training like you provide!

    I feel so dumb, I’d never put it together on where the pads of my fingers went! Now I know why my sidearm is so inconsistent! Thank you for including that great information!

    I was one of the comments and people who've been serving the pizza and had the pad of my fingers on the bottom of the disc. This has completely changed my sidearm throw for the better. Thank you!

    Hi Scott, I got my fingers pressing against the disc rim today, and it finally started to feel right, and low and behold, I made my first ever sidearm ace today. And it was so easy. Incredible.

    I am expert in throwing the sidearm and Your the first person that properly teaches how to throw the sidearm correctly. I would add footwork such as how an outfielder shifts his weight when he throws from center field to home plate but thats for more advanced players. BUT OVERALL; This is good STUFF. 🙌🙌

    Yesterday was the first time I've ever got a birdie throwing a sidearm off the tee in 20 years of playing. between what I've learned from your videos and a lot of practice I got 2 holes 1 and 3 at the Brent Hambrick Memorial DGC from the shorts thanks man

    Your sidearm videos are improving mine so much. Not only was I rolling my wrist because I was pulling across my body but your old grip video started my pads on the rim but I had forgotten it till the serve the pizza video. And this is just great clarification. I've been sending my brother all your videos since he moved a couple states away and I don't have hands on teaching anymore

    Thanks for all your videos Scott. I've improved my sidearm a lot from watching these. I feel very comfortable with standstill sidearm but I can't seem to figure out a distance hyzer sidearm. I struggle with the bending while doing a runup and getting any power. Hope you're feeling 100% and good luck preparing for the Preserve!

      I’m in the same situation. I can stand still or just take one step. Can’t figure out the run up for a hyzer distance side arm as well.

    Scott - THANK YOU for these videos! I've been playing since the 90's, came from baseball so forehand has always been my bread & butter and most consistent throw all my life. Someone gave me the palm up tip in the fall and my forehand has been an inconsistent mess ever since. 1st drive after your pizza correction videos (I did warm up) and I put one to 10' on a hole I had never birdied from the back tees and was easily 20+ feet further than what I consider my absolute max distance! You're the man, love to see you out there again - also love some Kastaplast plastic, excited to see you work with them

    Great explanation Scott. I have a decent 90-110m sidearm, but having trouble getting power on my hyzer. I will try and lean my body more instead of being "upright".

    Thanks for the followup details! I was serving the pizza up till a month ago, when I changed grips because I was getting a lot of pain in the middle finger last knuckle. Making sure my tips or pads are on the rim I get no discomfort and have added 100 ft to my forehand, althought still not accurate yet 😂

    I didn't comment on the last one but as someone who has never had any forehand whatsoever, I'm definitely one of those people who had a major "Aha!" moment from your last one. So much so that when I found myself in an impossible lie for a traditionally backhand only thrower during the glow round at fox run last Saturday, I threw a forehand that was easily 100x more confident and comfortable than any I've ever attempted in the past. I was a bit nervous going in so I loudly asked the whole group I was playing with to spot then aggressively threw directly into a huge branch I couldn't see 20 feet in front of me(glow round problems), but just the way it left my hand while keeping your video in mind was so wildly different that I actually feel like it's worth it to put in some forehand field work whereas before I definitely had the "pads on the plate rather than the rim" issue that was leading to an extremely awkward and unnatural feeling.

    Hi have been playing for 10+years, and I am a very dominate forehand player. I have been "serving the pizza" this whole time! I throw around 260ft at most, sometimes little longer if I have luck, and my gameplay has not been improved much in terms of throwing further.
    But now, these videos of yours have literally changed my way of playing! Cant believe I havent seen this sooner! Just the way you explained on why and how to have my pads on the disc made great difference in my throws! Thank you soo soo much.
    I was wonder wich grip you prefer when throwing forehand?

      I use a stacked grip. That doesn't mean you should. Every hand is unique. Check out my other video about sidearm grip.

    Hey Scott! I have been working on my sidearm a ton this year and these videos have been my tutor. I was wondering if we could get a video breaking down the walk up on a sidearm drive a bit more. I come from bad form and am trying to get more comfortable with my body facing forward and would love some tips on what my walkup form should look like.

      If you haven't already watch his "stop serving the pizza" video. Other than that the only advice I can give you about facing forward as you throw is to just go through the motions in your spare time or even when you walk up to the pad, just slowly walk up and go through the motions. It took me a while to get used to it as well but I stuck with it and now it's just muscle memory.

    Need a clever term for not serving the pizza that doesn't use "not" but instead uses positive language. Maybe something to do with a "two-finger swipe (left or right)." That's not the best but its something. Can't think of a common action that uses that wrist snap (except the "move along! nothing to see here" motion. Great video, Scott. Thinking about your course.

    I would like to give an feedback, that after my rotator cuff injury, I "started serving pizza" and I can throw forehand again. Serving pizza and leading throw with elbow takes lots of pressure away from your rotator cuff. Information for those, who have experinced rotator cuff injury. (Eagle should probably use that method.) As well I did'nt lose much of a distance I think. I can still throw about 450ft.

      I find my rotator cuff injury affects my backhand and putting a lot more than it does the forehand, if I was backhand dominant that would be "career" ending.

I was a back hand only player until only recently watching your videos and I have to say it's a lot of fun when you release a perfect forehand and it does what you want it to.     I get more distance and angle control by “serving the pizza” I throw only forehand, if I try your other grips it absolutely trashes my game, while I understand that this isn’t necessarily correct, i dont want to trash my game , what’s your advice for this?🤷🏻‍♂️😂

    I get this video. I get everything in it. But. Why on earth do I throw forehands WAY better if I pinch the flight plate? I still put pressure on the rim, but I focus more on pinching the flight plate and it just works. The release is clean, not wobbly when I do it like that 🤔.

      It probably causes more spin on your disc. Firmly holding one point on the disc while the outer edge is moving very fast. Sounds good.

    So I kinda serve the pizza..and I serve it 400ft+..I'm double jointed and my throw more resembles a MLB sidearm pitcher..should i try and switch?

    Serving the pizza will stop your follow through and lose distance it doesn’t matter if your hand palm is facing up or down as long as you’re releasing correctly but Palm will definitely lose distance and rotation on follow through You also don’t rotate the disk with your fingers you do it with your hips feet knees hips torso shoulders arms in that order like a golf swing centrifugal force will put the Spin Wrist action will lead to inconsistency

    Hi Scott! Quick question 🙋‍♂️
    When I lean over for a forehand I feel that it is very hard for me to get the nose angle correct, I’ll either put the disc in the ground, or put it too high. Any advice to keep the angle right?

      The solve for that is to focus on the wrist. If your angle is off you are still serving the pizza.

    So question, I'm a one finger person due to my pinky and ring finger being tired together with my middle finger due to and injury that lacerated the tendons in my ring and pinky finger... any grip advice to get a good tight grip on it

      All things considered, two fingers are stronger than one. But you absolutely can get a good sidearm with a one finger grip if that's what you have to work with.

    the biggest mistake Ive made is something I hear on the course all the time, "keep your elbow tucked into your body" - once I learned to get my elbow back (thanks Scott) I realized that tip is as much BS as serving the pizza.

    When I throw forehand I only use my pointer finger. Does anyone else throw this way, I find it more accurate than any other way.

    I came to learn a bit, I leave feeling like this was half a Heimburg bash and half a tutorial. Everyone knows who is "put the pizza in the oven" and to say something against that countless times in one video? Yeah...surely seems hyper-directed at him. Sad, did not need to focus on that and could have focussed on the content instead.
