Come and drive the Pico Veleta to 3400m in Granada Spain. Full width road where you can actually use the abilities of the car. Tons of car companies come to test.
Thank you for taking the effort to make this. Loved the views and atmosphere. Been there myself a couple of years ago. Great way to relive it. - saved to favorites -
Stunning footage Joe. Thanks for taking us with you. 🙏🏻
This was great. Thanks Joe (just doing some catch-up watching :) )
Absolutely epic config, love the Dravitgrau! I bought my 3series also in the same color and thanks to you I can admire how it looks from the outside;) (although I have just the 340d, bought btw after your review).
Keep up the good work Joe. Your content are just top level!
No lie I live in North America,Canada to be exact and I gotta to admit that every time I watch European car UA-cam channels I come to a clear conclusion that over there have the best roads for driving and it not just one particular country either, many to be precise.👊🏼👍🏼
I love these pov/road videos!
Do the North Coast 500 next!
it's astonishing!
Amazing scenery. Loved that.
I really enjoyed this video buddy 🙏👌👏
Awesome video mate, ASMR to my ears and eyes lol! Just put in a custom order for my m4 a few days ago, 5 month wait sadly. Your videos are making this wait much more bearable :)
Joe this was great, beautiful views!
Class Joe really good video
Thanks for sharing this. The views look amazing 😍🏞
Brilliant vid Joe! Stunning scenery….. surely the NC500 or at least part of it would be right up your street for the channel? Took my humble M340i up last week and did the bottom part of it. Simply stunning! If you like the wilderness feeling of the mountains you’ll love it. Obviously not as high as Alps, but for me just as special. I visit alps regularly although I tend to be driving these roads in the opposite weather….!
Ah the Cols, looks epic, thanks for the tour!
Incredible video mate!! Enjoyed every minute of it - just kidding, I’m still watching it🤣🤣🤣
😂👏👌
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! Stunning visuals.
Great video, love your style.
Wonderful views!!
You are on a fantastic road-trip, I have been to the gorges daluis and the Bonnet several times and everytime it is a delight. You chose wisely, Joe Achilles
It's a long way to the top (when you want a sausage roll) Super good video Joe, very enjoyable!
I’ve climbed that col a couple of times on a road bike and it certainly does take your breath away.! The additional loop at the top was an afterthought for the French to claim the highest road in Europe. And since it was an afterthought, it’s steeper than the rest of the climb - all you need when the air is so thin..! 🙄😁
0:30 wow that 992 Carrera looks stunning. See, a Carrera is all you need.
Great driving Joe.👍
But that altitude, and the drop?! 😱
In Pakistan there’s roads like this. Cliff edges everywhere. No road rules. I drove on them roads at 80%. The most beautiful experience ever. Messing up on roads like that is death
Beautiful route 😍👌.. watching from Sri Lanka
Great video!
I love my G82 M4 🔥
Just drove this 2 weeks ago, something everyone has to experience!
I like the way it feels in rear wheel drive🤯
Great video. I love watching your commentary while you drive, I would subscribe twice if I could!
Great video as always Joe. That M3 spec is a thing of beauty. The drone footage is also incredible but I am torn. I’ve had several serene and picturesque hiking trips disrupted by the distinct sound of drones here in Colorado. I wish there was an easier way to capture those beautiful vistas while protecting the serenity of our outdoor spaces. The first person to build the silent drone will have a gold mine in their hands.
Cheers man! Yeah totally agree re drones, had mine 18 months and used it 3 times, this flight was genuinely less than 90 seconds and to me worthwhile for memories, I wouldn't have done it if there were lots of other people up there either. 👌
@@JoeAchilles1 Does that include the infamous crash and recovery episode? Those were the days of really great videos from you!!! 🤣
Watching your video whilst im currently on holiday in my OG home town " Harare, Zimbabwe". Usually live in portsmouth in the UK.
Wow what a drive and fantastic scenery, not sure I'd feel comfortable driving the road as I'm not good with heights.
Really want to hit this pass some time! Went on a roadtrip this summer with my 992 4s thru Grossglockner, the Dolomites, Stelvio and the Swiss alps. Was absolutely amazing. 🙌
Amazing indeed, I’ve managed to do the Swiss alps and Grossglockner this summer in a 335i. Stunning roads to drive. Stelvio, Dolomites and San Bernardino next time.
Amazing road...a Cayman on this road!
Great video. Thanks Joe.
Perfect combination of road, car and company - unless the Porsche was even better 😄
I'm guessing that's probably a stage on the Tour de France.
It's been the scene of a few cracking Tour stages.
Beautiful road and scenery. Pikes Peak next?
The views are therapeutic.
Been there with my motorcycle in 2017. Epic place!
The new format is very cool! A bit more serious, and simultaneously more emotional? Artsy? But still please produce content every now and then that is closer to your previous style.
Epic roads!
Best channel.
Big THUMBS up for the lady on the left. No complaints, nothing at any power slides on narrow alpine roads and what a shame that the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Porsche, friend, tarmac, tyres, luggage, ... were introduced but not her...Joe, sorry I am just kidding and I stop kidding now! Privacy is privacy! Surely also wanted! The content is GREAT as always, the only difference is the occupied silent left front I immediately recognized probably because my wife surely would have been louder at least at the point of power slides! 😁😉 Keep going! Cheers Marton
Those fresh air bends are scary, no armco and a long way down. ( say hello to Lou)
I was there two years ago with my 335i cabrio. Next year will go with my M3 E92
Reminds me of Bond chasing Goldfinger's Rolls through the Alps in his DB5.
You could've borrowed the picture of my 140 parked up next to them 😎. What an amazing place that is. The footage doesnt do it justice.
Beautiful view driving in a beautiful BMW ///M3 ⛰️🚗
The highest I have driven is Mt Lemon in Arizona, I think we were just over 11,000 feet above sea level (anyone from Tucson able to confirm?) Proper surfaced Road all the way, from desert with Saguaro cacti at the bottom to rough pine at the top, with rather a nice German style Alpine ski village on the other side. Lots of cyclists as apparently various Olympic athletes train there. Lovely drive in summer, with equally spectacular views.
Nice video, how you compare this to Stelvio pass,, keep the nice videos
Can’t beat a mountain drive. Leh to Manali in the Himalayas has some pretty epic passes over 5000 meters. No vegetation. But roads aren’t great.
Stunning road. Did the Routes des Grandes Alpes five years ago from Thonon Les Bains down to Nice. I wanted a change from the Route Napoléon that we’d done several times previously. Awesome experience. At the risk of sounding like the old fart that I am, just a word of caution. It’s not for the inexperienced or those who lack confidence driving on challenging roads that are seriously high up in places. These aren’t roads you’d want to get it wrong on. Edit: I wrote this prior to watching the video, so pleased to see Joe making the same comment. Epic video, especially the drone shots at the end. Makes me want to go back.
Strange you’d comment on a video prior to watching it
@@kirkmasterson1792 Time constraints meant I had to watch it later. I just wanted to make it clear that some of these passes are not ‘a walk in the park’ and are both challenging and time consuming. Not somewhere you rush through even if, like Joe, you’re an experienced driver and not one to really recommend if you’re a first-timer at Alpine driving. I know how often people on-line people make things sound easy (mountain walking is another) when they’re not. That’s how people get into difficulties. Good to hear Joe explaining this.
Hey Joe, great vid as always, just wanted to ask, any issues with rattling? I have had my M3 (Dravit grau as well :P) for about three months and i've been experiencing some annoying rattles and was wondering if I'm the only one
I would love for you to teach (or explain a bit about) how to drive in the mountains (I'm from the Netherlands -> 100% flat). How/when shift gears? Manual/automatic transmission? Uphill/downhill? Breaking?
Btw it look beautiful!
Epic road! Did you by any chance find out who does Mtb tours of that area? Have been further north plenty of times, somewhere different would be interesting 👌🏻
You really needed Matt Monroe singing 'On days like these' in the background 😁
Looks idyllic!
Amazing joe. What’s that road called?
Hopefully this will be in the next TDF 2023.
FYI... you dont wanna run the fuel too low , too many times. Bad for the fuel pump.
Good trip, Officially the Pico del Veleta in Spain’s Sierra Nevada mountains is the highest ‘proper’ road, reaching just over 3,300m, pity the TDF riders pedalling up the Bonette!
Hey Joe - how about them mud flap/protectors? where did you acquire them and what did the installation comprise of?. Would like them on my 2020 X3MC
👏👏👏
What day of the week and what time? No trafic🤗
I live at 2800 meters and have an M2C, did you feel the M3 lose some power or have a bit more lag at low rpms? How big of a difference? I still haven’t been able to drive mine at sea level, and even though the twin turbos help to compensate still something must be lost.
hey Joe,did yo get a lot of discount for the m3 or full price?
The highest paved road in Europe is in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain, 3,380m
As someone who's as much into cars as into road biking, thanks for looking out for cyclists. Some motorists are terrible at this sadly.
I'm stuck between a M3 xDrive and a 718 GTS :( I live, and drive in Wales around windy roads...
Greetings from Austria, highest paved road in Europe is in Sölden Austria ;-)
Pico Veleta, Sierra Nevada, Granada, Spain, 3400 metres.
Post Bus up freewheel bicycle down !
Joe, which suspension setup?
Highest paved road in Europe, Pico del Veleta, Spain (3,380m).
Criminal to be so low on fuel. I'd be worried about it sucking air in a corner. I get concerned at 1/4 tank ha. Beautiful road!
😂😂😂 Thankfully it wasn't built in the 70's
@@JoeAchilles1 you say that but my rs3 will do that if it's below a 1/4 on launches or high g corners 🤔 😉
ayy we have the same watch
How much petrol did you have remaining when you got to a petrol station?
Can't watch videos like this without thinking Tilly Masterson is about to take a shot at you. Those who know will know........😉
Does your friend like the base carrera ?
Speed limit of 50kph on that road? You can lose your license very quick if they actually put some police with radars there.
You’ve dreamt of being back on these roads after years of Covid restrictions, only to come back to drive your xDrive in RWD. 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️🙈 View is amazing. I haven’t been to Switzerland in about 40 years.
France
@@JoeAchilles1 ah, could have sworn you said Switzerland. Now I gotta get you another view, and watch, again. 🙌
Please give me the model name of your beautiful watch!
Thought I recognised where you were, must have just missed you by a few days, I was riding with Stu up that road in his 600LT a month ago on a PetrolheadTours!

Great memories. Great video mate. 😎
Love getting high in M3 on road in Europe.
What color is this?
Rather ride my bike up 😆
Ridden up twice drove a green mk3 1.2 Ibiza hire car back mid 90s up it. Never been anything interesting up it.
Get Lou on camera !!

My wife would puke the whole time way up thr...
You lost at least £15k on your blue m3
No I didn't, but thanks for the helpful information 😂
@@JoeAchilles1 I bought my 21 plate M4 for £70k cash list price £86k with 700 miles on clock sold for £66k 4 months later. Just bough a new m240i
For £57k cash. I would be luck to get £48k for it now
@@billycM5 are they (g82 m4s) really losing value that fast?! I'm thinking to buy one outright next month, drive it for a couple of years then sell privately. Currently looking at 72 plates in the 65k-70k mark. What do you reckon they'd be worth in 2 years time?
