I inherited my Dad's old 1996 4.9 5-speed regular cab short bed in Portofino blue. He was a Senior Master Ford mechanic right up to when he passed. Been fighting getting a decent running 4.9L...on my 2nd one since getting the truck. Man something like a coyote swap looks like one heck of an idea. Can just imagine how much fun he'd have had in something like this. Awesome job!
Thought a Coyote Swap/6R80 would be cool in my 93 LIghtning, but this seems like it is more than just a bolt in swap. Man, those welds you guys did are pretty!
@GMEHT I manufacture parts for this generation of trucks. I have 13 parts currently in the process of getting to market on top of the handful I already have available.
What’s going on with the brake booster kits for the 73-79 trucks? Specifically the kit you guys were developing for the f250s? It’s the only thing I’m lacking to drive my 76 that I started working on in January 2020, Waiting patiently.
This is an upgrade I want! One day when mine gives up on life.. Which might be a while.. But screw the column shifter, let's find a nice new stick tranny match🤙
Are the coyote and godzilla motormounts similar or are they completely different? From the pictures I saw it seems the 7.3 has very low accessory mounts as well.
Since the 96 is OBDII will this negate the need to rewire everything like in the earlier 70's models? is it basically swapping the computer as well? I'm a bit unclear on that.
Hi from australia I've had a81 f100 for 21yrs its the same chassie as a 96 apart from the crush area an they have a problem how the rails are riveted to the crossmember I've fixed mine when I got it as well as 6 others over the yrs they work loose an to fix it the crossmember has to be fully welded in to the rails mine had 3mm of movement between both rails an the worse one I fixed a 4x4 had 13mm of movement between both rails an mine is 2wd that doesn't do any hard work an I'm saying this from the point of I want everyone to do the best they can keeping these on the road I don't see enough bracing or welding of the crossmember where it's been cut both sides an the hole is in the left side needs extra brace to join the rail an crossmember together because that front end works itself apart I hope this helps because the old truck's never had that problem an I've had a 77f250 for 32 yrs
A dressed Coyote is well over 500 lbs. A Coyote LB is in the 450 lb range. A Windsor with aluminum heads/intake/water pump likely will weigh similar to a Coyote, and possibly less when dressed out. This swap is a waste. This is way too much work to put a Coyote into a truck. I own an 18 F150 5L/10R80 truck. It's badass for what it is. I DD it with an AML tune and always run nothing but E85. Coyote is great. This is not a knock against it, but you're hacking up the foundation of your truck to fit an engine that in no way stands alone in terms of performance. If Windsor is truly as good as LS like many Ford fanboys (I generally buy Ford, but have owned a few Camaros so I'm not a slave to either brand) then all this effort is a waste of time and money. That chassis is made to house an old SBF and a Windsor will drop right into it. A built 408 ci LS with a good H/C/I setup will hurt a Coyotes feelings in terms of N/A HP. Seeing as how both a 351W and 6L LS achieve 408 ci's with a 4.03" bore and a 4.0" stroke, a built 408W converted to MAF with a good H/C/I would be a way better option than modding the structure of a truck to force an Engine to fit that doesn't want to fit, and then you have to go with whatever weight placement you're dealt, as you don't have the room to position the engine ideally in the chassis, you're just trying to make it fit. A boosted Coyote is badass. So is a boosted 351W that's built to manage boost. Sure the Coyote is refined, but a LS is refined enough, especially with a SC, running a blower based cam. If Windsor can't compete with LS's refinement then it is in fact not as good as LS.
Would it be a similar setup if swapping a 96 Cobra engine into a 96 F150? I would rather do the Coyote conversion, but I already have the Cobra engine. Would it even be worth the trouble, or should I just sell the 4.6 and go Coyote?
The 96 cobra engine has 305 HP. Any coyote engine make no less than 420 hp. I wouldn't even mess with the 96 motor. Just supercharging the stock motor in your 96 will make you more than 305 hp.
Have you guys done a Ford OBS coyote swap with an MT82 or a T56? I was wondering where the shifter would sit in the cab and what extras I’d have to change from my current manual transmission (95 f150 5.0 w/ M5od)
The Ford OBS (Old Body Style) got its name from when Ford redesigned the F-150 in 97, making it a distinct body style from the F-250 and larger trucks. chevy did not do this. There's no such thing as a chevy OBS.
Thanks for the video but no way in hell am I gonna dick with my alternator and ac compressor in that tight of a spot. I’ll just put the money into fixing up my 351.
I thought this would be more informative !? This is just to sell you Thea’s items , I gues just like Gumby told me “you have to do the figuring out on your own and stopped on video 3 …
You are using a Mustang 5.0L coyote.... the truck variety has a horizontal oil filter... Why would I pay for less torque, higher rpm peak hp and an oil filter relocation when you can just buy a used truck engine that has cams designed for lower rpm tq hp? That is the entire point of a truck and moving the 5-6k lb vehicle.
@@FatFenderGarage aod is the best tranny for a small block and mod motor period tho and its bolts too a coyote motor why not use it and no wiring to play and thats whats in my dads 84 f150 i want to coyote swap.thanks - nick

The term OBS originated as a Ford thing to distinguish the older body style with a Powerstroke rather than a newer Super Duty Powerstroke.
But as you know, chevy always following Ford.
@xxZerosumxx as you know more chevrolets transplanted in every type of vehicle. Mostly ford's .
Finally! When the 4.9 kicks the bucket (if ever) this is happening.
Plenty of time to save lmfao
That's awesome. Thanks for making the kit! Someday I want to do this to my 1995 F150. 👍
Wait… me too
Perfect. Now I don't have to do an ls swap lol
Thank god lol
😂😂😂😂

I've got components coming in a couple months to make it 100% bolt-in. This is way over complicated

I just wanna sell my NBS shortbed for a OBS f150 shortbed going back to my roots Lol. Looks great FFG
Could you do a video on 85-90 f150? I have an 88’ and am in the process of figuring out what route to take with swapping a coyote into it.
Awesome man. I see you made a plate to cover up the hole like when Gumby does them. Funny my 357w in my 95 started hammering 2 weeks ago too

Would swapping a Crown vic front end be easier in the long run? It would ride better for sure.
I've been thinking about doing that I have 95 7.3 F350 crew cab four-wheel drive dually will it work ? 🤙 🇺🇸
I’m waiting for a early superduty 7.3 ten speed swap 👍
Ah man, that would be a sweet fricn swap!!
I 100% agree with Brokenwrench, we need a 7.3 swap for early to mid 90's Ford 250-350
What about headers how would you get a long tube in the passenger side
When will the 1980-86 body style get some love?
There basically the same it should work. I have 87-96 dropped I beams on an 85 f150 now

How much would be the damage to swap a coyote to a 96 Ford Bronco Sir ....
Does it work with the factory 4x4 Twin Traction Beam?
So will this work for the 4.6 instead? I can’t afford a coyote
how different is this if there was a solid axle swap done on a Bronco.

I had 90 bronco with a 5 speed manual transmission would this be a direct fot into a coyote engine?
I like to call mine some old BS !!! Because I am always working on it! but OBS is Older Body Style. Lol
I’ve got a 95 4x4 with the M5OD. Can I use my existing tranny and tcase?
Would you be able to do a 96 Ford Explorer??? That already has a V8 5.0 in it
it wont fit.
302/5.0L and 351/5.8L small block Ford are much smaller than the 5.0L "Coyote" DOHC is much taller and wider engine.
95 f350 with the 460 5speed stick .. how much would it be done with yall ? And where or yall location
