- V-groove board is a decorative panel board similar to beadboard. It features chamfered edges that form a v-groove between each board. The v-groove creates a nice shadow line. You can purchase special router bit sets that will cut the tongue and groove joint and the v-groove in a single pass on each board, but you can also make these boards using more common router bits.

Thanks for sharing ,this guy is a great presenter/teacher ........he doesn’t fill his video with unnecessary rubbish .....top
Job !
Took me 3 hours to find a video that actually talks about making your own touges/grooves. Now I have a better idea of how to modify my boards so that they all fit together nicely. Thank you.
I did the same for the whole morning today (5 hours). Another morning yesterday was killed to find the equivalent English term.
This guy is a great teacher. Thanks for these videos Rockler.
Thank you! I have some T&G V-groove boards that I need to mill to patch the original siding on my house, so this was perfect.
Great teacher which results in very informative video - thanks !
When he said,
“You want the tongues to be able to move in the grooves.”
I felt that.
You make it look easy. Thanks for ideas.
Great video, thank you!
I visited your store the last weekend, i knew.the manager, I would like to watch your videos with subtitle in spanish please. Greetings FROM GUAYAQUIL ECUADOR.
Hi, I'm looking at getting into some DIY, and I would live to know what machine is that your using in this video? Also, what type of wood is that your using?
Where can I buy a rule like this with end markings?
Cheers in uk
Nice shop ..you can't even buy any quality wood furniture etc anymore....I made a cool chess board from purple heart and southern Ash...25 yrs ago at school...still no scratches or breakage warping nothing....I've beat it up too
I appreciate this video, I would ask if you could show tools closer with cameras 3:03
Is a chamfer necessary for tongue and groove or can it simply be omitted?
The chamfer is not necessary.
can you list the bits and accessories that you used so I can purchase them at Rockler?
why chamfer the boards? for outside of house when you don't want a flat look?
Hi Ray, The chamfer is for a traditional look. If you don’t wish to chamfer, you can skip that step.
now I have to decide whether to spend the time making boards to line a closet. or buy them....
So there isn't any bit that can do this in one go?
No, sorry.
Yes
Awesome video very well explained even for a dummy like myself lol
about that movement in the grove ?..why not seal both sides of the wood and glue the joint .then there is no need for movement and changes in mosture don't affect the wood .Water damage is also reduced
Now do that 1000 times with 16' boards
Here's Chris doing the same process but using a table saw: ua-cam.com/video/FPbiGlV_Epg/v-deo.html
Couldn’t you do this easier on a shaper table ?
If you have one. This demonstration is to show how to do it on a router table. There are many ways to accomplish the same outcome in woodworking.
Great video! Thank you!
