I'm 1/4th Mexican but you can't tell that by looking at me. It's had such a small impact on my life that I sometimes forget that my grandfather was from Mexico. I am 1/4 NA indian and my tribe is still fighting to be federally recognized as a tribe. Our state acknowledges us but the federal gov won't. It was shocking to me when I got old enough to understand the situation. I never expected that in this day and age the govt still refused to acknowledge an identity of people. They gave rights to all walks of life but refuse to acknowledge our tribe as a people. We have history in our area. We might not be a huge tribe like the Cherokee etc but we are still a people that wants our history and place to be acknowledged and not lost in time.

Warren would not be recognized as a minority American Indian for any tribe or job application with this silly 1/1024th DNA test. It's not that simple. I am 1/4 NA indian and my tribe is still fighting to be federally recognized as a tribe. Our state acknowledges us but the federal gov won't. It was shocking to me when I got old enough to understand the situation. I never expected that in this day and age the govt still refused to acknowledge an identity of people. They gave rights to all walks of life but refuse to acknowledge our tribe as a people. We have history in our area. We might not be a huge tribe like the Cherokee etc but we are still a people that wants our history and place to be acknowledged and not lost in time.
