We really are seeing cubbie's personality! Mommy Mei accidently bumps him with her bamboo and he barks! I laughed out loud! She stops and looks at him "like what?" And I always love the milk coma sleeping! Thanks DoxieMom! I needed a good laugh! Will check out other feed.

Oh my word! Momma and cubbie - what a delightful, peaceful scenes. Even when cubbie gets a bit too demanding, Mei takes it like a good mom. When cubbie starts “toddling” watch out world! ❤️🦋. Thank you DoxieMom!!
Cubbie's growing too fast! Mei's so attentive with him and she deserves some time of her own, so if she gets out and eats some boo by her own that's perfect. She does shove him around a little, maybe she's trying to make sure he sees the world around him faster because he can't walk yet, only crawl around. Aww, I just can't wait till he starts waddling around on chubby legs! 🐼❤
I'm so in love with these two. I don't know where I've been missing how cute pandas are. Mei is such a good mother. Mei and little growl take my mind away from the chaos going on with humanes in the world
Cubbie says: "What is all this noise and the big stick? I was having a day with less tummy pains (shown by his quietness), and here all this ruckus!" Meanwhile Mei is the best mother on the planet ... doing all she can for cubbie but she cannot burp him nor do too very much to help his bowels move properly.
Lolololol Another great performance. Mei & Baby are great. Cubbie's whining subsided after Mei started pushing him towards the wall so she could sleep ( she just ain't takin it no mo..). The novelty has worn out- she's one tired momma. After cub suckles- Mei just kicks him to the curb, she's done her momma duties. Lololol Yet the funniest is when she's stripping bamboo - boy she be doing some 🎵kung fu fighting- that stick was fast as lightin, the cub was a little bit frightening 🎵... And then that funky momma Mei ran out of bamboo- pow, high kick...🎵 Here comes big momma Mei she's walking to the cub 🎵 ...realizin what she'd done ummhmmm ( back ground singers singin), now she's loving on the cub🎶... Everyone was kung fu fighting🎶🎵🎶🎵🐼 -pow... .
O my had to watch lol that gentle push little cubby and his growing pains then o my mommy im not a pancake im ur panda baby and what a strange spatula sleep time carries on mommy mei couldn't resist giving her love and comfort so sweet we are so blessed to watch always a smile thank you so much doxiemom 🙂😇🥰🤗💙🙏🐾🐾🐼🐼

Honestly I do not know the answer to that question Barbara. I read, on average, a Giant Panda sleeps 10 hours a day. They typically eat, sleep ... eat, sleep in 2 hours at a time throughout the 24 hours.
Those Babies grow quick~ yet so slow... A kitten 🐈 would be running around like a maniac! And, Loving Mama seemed a little bit annoyed with Baby Boy... OMG~ I was just wondering if She was going to Stab Him! Accidentally, of course! I don't know if it was editing or if, in fact, THEIR OUTTING WAS ONLY 5 SECONDS LONG~ That's just a guess, but after Gently Tossing Baby Along The Path and Reaching Their Destination she kinda slid Him around... Hmmm~ MAYBE THAT'S A FUN DAY OUT FOR A PANDA?! One thing IS Clear: MAMA WANTS TO SLEEP ALONE AGAIN... SHE IS READY! It's TOO funny 😸 when She keeps pushing him away... Noisy Baby. What else can a Panda bear eat? Those sticks of bamboo must be hard to digest. Can they eat meat, maybe like hamburger meat. What does the baby eat, if he doesn't nurse that often?
They get apples and carrots too, and a panda bread which I think is called wouwoutou or something which gives them the energy they need that they might not have from bamboo. ALso, yes, I've heard pandas will occasionally eat small mammals like mice. Baby is feeding on milk now but will get to bamboo soon!
They eat different fruits & veggies besides bamboo. They also eat leafeater biscuits, which are (if I remember right) special biscuits made of stuff that they need to supplement the majority bamboo diet. The pandas in China, like cubbie boy’s older siblings, are the pandas which get wouwoutou. It’s the Chinese equivalent of the leafeater biscuits, more like a bread than a biscuit (I may be wrong, but I’ve always thought the leafeater biscuits were something like the Milk-Bone biscuits we’d feed our dogs). From what I’ve heard, pandas transitioning from the US to China think of wouwoutou as something of an acquired taste at first, but they eventually seem to get used to it. Pandas here, at least at the zoo where cubbie boy, Mei & Tian Tian are, also get diluted apple juice, honey water, fruitsicles, & honey smeared on boxes & milk crates (they lick it off) as treats. Cubbie boy’s too young for any of that stuff right now. I don’t really know how old he has to be to eat any of it. I think the new update from the zoo that was linked in the top post said the cubs start mouthing at the bamboo when they’re around 3 months old-but I think I may be confusing that with the age they start trying to crawl. Anyway, both things, I’m pretty sure, are discussed in the new update from the zoo that’s linked in the top post.

The other US zoos with pandas probably also give their pandas leafeater biscuits or something of their own creation to supplement the primarily bamboo diet & make sure they’re not lacking in any critical nutrients. I have never heard of any pandas eating small mammals, like mice. I’m not saying you’re wrong about that, just that I’ve never heard of it. Though I’d think, if that were true the mice which periodically get in at least the birthing den wouldn’t be long for the world. That’s not what happens. The mouse seems to ignore the panda(s), & vice-versa.

My heart is broken to hear that the zoo is returning Mai Xiang and Tian Tian to China next year! What does China want with a 25 and 26 year old Pandas? They will live in a barren cell and have minimal outdoor time. They have to survive the long plane trip, new language and new diet and new climate. This is so cruel. This is the thanks that this country gives to 2 beloved Pandas that we have watch on the Panda Cam. They should be able to live their retirement years in this country. Disgraceful! You could not have had a better mother than Mai Xiang!
Susan, the San Diego Zoo returned their breeding pair of Giant Pandas, (27 year old female Bai Yun & 30+ year old Gao Gao) in 2018/2019 along with their then 6 year old "cub" Xiao Li Wu. And they are all thriving over in China. There is nothing "cruel" about this, we have always known that they would be returned to their homeland some day according to the loan agreement with China. Please abide by my channel's rule of always keeping comments positive and factual. Thank you.
Yes, the keepers use the opportunities of Mei being in the next room OR her outside yard to do medical checks on her cubbie boy. Yes, cubbie boy will be named when he reaches 100 days old, per Chinese tradition.

He loves laying on his back. He was so cute after feeding he’s on his back and stretches and yawns. Such a sweetheart! 🐼❤️
