- Here's the next part to our Sonic double feature: the long awaited Egg Dragoon from Sonic Unleashed!
This is one of the songs I said I was going to do last year that I didn't get around to. I thought it'd be pretty neat to do this song alongside Egg Reverie and have a sort of 'Egg Weekend' thing going on... but unfortunately it's the middle of the week, so it's more like 'Egg Mid-Week'. It doesn't have as cool of a ring to it, but oh well.

can we appreciate that, in Sonic Unleashed, by the time the boss starts, Eggman basically already has Sonic at a dead end? Even if you beat him, you're still on a crumbling platform falling to the Earth's core. Indeed, if you take too long in the Egg Dragoon fight, once you get to the last platform, Eggman will tell you that this is, "the end of the road": after that final platform breaks, you simply fall to your death
There's a second thing particularly impressive about this: it shows just how genre savvy Eggman has gotten, and how well he's come to learn from his past mistakes. He could easily let the fall kill you. Sure, it could also be a pride thing, but remember the Egg was perfectly happy with tossing Sonic into space, why should this be any different? No, this time, Eggman has learned his lesson. Even if he's already won, he plans to stay and finish the job
Despite the poor execution of the Werehog, I feel that storywise, and to some extent, gameplay wise, this may very well have been one of the high points of the franchise
spindash64 Sonic Unleashed was definetely for me, the last amazing Sonic game. There were some very good ones after like Colors, Generations and Mania but i think none of them tops Unleashed.
Agustin Leguiza well the werehog sections kinda put it on par with colours
I never knew that since I played the Wii version, which is still my favorite.
PS3 and Xbox 360 were the best. Wii sucked a bit but it was the only one I could actually play.
Unleashed is my favorite Sonic game!

Unleashed is probably the most slept on 3d Sonic games. Yeah, the werewolf stuff was a change of pace, but I thought it was interesting, at the very least

Werehog was underated asf imo
Mind you that was the first time they've done a beat em' up style of gameplay as well and it wasn't even bad. People just didn't like the battle music, and slow pace platforming.
@@matthewmorrison3745 typical Sonic players were just not used to Hackn'Slash/Beat em up games. But I really enjoyed it.
What I didn't enjoy about Unleashed were the ranking system (which didn't really made sense) and the hard as f+ck side missions.

This fight is the most serious eggman has ever gotten fighting sonic, actively trying to kill him. This was his ATTEMPT, and that's understandable since in this game, he's already succeeded and you're trying to undo it. It's an intense grudge match falling to the center of the earth and it fucking shows in this music

Moby Brick the thing that makes this most clear in the fight, is when eggman breaks the first platform and as sonic's falling, he says "geez eggman, simmer down!". There is genuine fear in sonic's voice when he says that, he knows eggman's not messing around this time.

Unleashed obviously was the most intense form.
Generations tried to emulate it with the fall-sections, which were cool, but the urgency of course couldn't really be emulated.
Forces was a joke, period.
For all the stuff is getting said and done about Sonic, they always have one consistent good stuff: MUSIC.
I mean that’s pretty debatable in Forces. Yeah Fist Bump and especially Death Egg Robot phase 3 are cool and all, but the majority of the soundtrack is just...underwhelming (to some at least), especially in comparison to other Sonic games. There’s also Sonic Chronicles. There’s a reason the only thing from that game BrawlBRSTMS has extended is a SiIvagunner rip

Ah, yes. Egg Dragoon.
Intended to be the final boss for the Werehog and was meant to be hard. Unfortunately, in the Wii and PS2 versions of Unleashed, Eggy-boy was super easy to cheese leading to one being able to achieve a time of under a minute.
It was good concept-wise, execution-wise, not so much as they made it so you can still hit Eggman after one cycle if you were fast enough.
I think there’s an in game lore reason for the egg dragoon being rather easy: sure eggman built it to fight sonic, but he used it against the wrong form, it was meant to fight sonic as he is normally, not as the werehog, it makes even more sense when you consider how the version of the egg dragoon fought in sonic generations is significantly harder, because this time it was being used for its intended purpose.
@@jackhumphries1087 well, and the fact that the Dragoon in Unleashed was a prototype, while the version used in Generations was an upgraded version.

Even though Unleashed had arguably a better fight (not counting the Wii version), Generations had a far better design.
His Generations design was cool, but I didn't like that they turned his minigund into a flamethrower.
yeah, the minigun thing was just badass, have to just run the frick away while he just let loose with hot lead. Sure, you might be on a one way elevator to death, but this time, he's not taking any chances. He's here to make sure that this time, he finishes the job
The Egg Dragoon was also way weaker in Generations. In Unleashed it was meant to be the ultimate Anti-Hedgehog weapon, stong enough to withstand any of Sonic's attack. Only the streinght of the werehog was enough to break it. In Generations he had two big weakspots so that normal Sonic could defead him with ease. And in Forces the Dragoon was so weak that a smaller Sonic could win by throwing rocks.
Well the Forces Egg Dragoon had lost 10% of it's Combat Strength. But as Tails noted, he might have been lying and it could've lost more.

Next time you revisit sonic, might I recommend either Deep Core from Sonic Rush Adventure or something from sonic CD. Lots of sonic stuff already, so I'm hype to see the other content, but I'll be waiting for what's in the wings!

I was looking for a rock cover of the theme knowing it was gonna be too cool. This is what the remix for Generations should've strived for.
Sounds very close to the original, but isn't too close that it sounds exact. Has its own unique twist. Very well done. You deserve more subscribers.
