    Great guide :D! Will have to remember to link this to people when they ask about disc on the healing forums (raid as a disc priest myself, I usually have around 10-13k spirit in 10man).

    Awesome, thanks. I did Refer-A-Friend on my priest and was like, "WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING" lol. I had no time to learn, and going from a 571 Restoration Shaman to this tiny level 83 Discipline Priest was quite a change of pace.

    I love your Spectral tiger pup ^.^. Ugh, I haven't touched WoW since Cataclysm first came out, but seeing your guide videos makes me wanna jump back into it! Although, I would have A LOT of guide videos to go through. Not to mention, people were pretty annoying if you didn't have the achievements for wherever you were going (luckily I had a guild for that). I miss a handful of people too. Anyway, lemme stop rambling and keep watching your videos lol.

    Great video and a great help to me . I started as a disc priest , but I'm ... apparently I was not quite neglected atonement healing . Now I'm playing as holy , and I'm much better and more valid in the raid . However, your video has inspired me to try again disc priest , this time on the atonement 'm going to really focus on. Sry for my english, i am from czech republic. Bye :-)

    What happens with the Divine Aegis which finally expires on players when there is no dmg to be absorbed? Is that an overheal or not? Definitely, it doesn't show up on the meters though. Intellect remains your prime stat since it gives you overall bigger heals crits and non-crits; intellect buffs your healing directly through spell power and increases crit heals even further. With DA you have a {crit}% to heal twice as much as a normal heal with the extra healing to become a shield.
    That doesn't mean that crit isn't useful for disco. However, it's value has to do with it's marginal contribution via DA mechanism; 1 extra point of intellect has less value when you already have 10k intellect than 1 extra point of crit when you have 0 crit.
    Haste isn't useless. It helps you stack your Spirit Shells faster and we all know what that means in fights with great mobility. Moreover, you can stack more DA per sec due to faster casting. However you need a lot of haste in order to reach the same resaults as with a low-ilvl-gear-heavy-crit build.

      I recommend going to www.healadinne.com/HealCalc/healcalc.html and playing around to see just how wrong most of this is.

      Delta =1000
      Stat | Relative Effect (HPS penace heal) your char
      Int | 2.34%
      Sp | 1.76%
      Crit | 1.53%
      Mastery | 1.77%
      Haste | 2.2%

      lakisleykos
      Yes, and then factor in that secondary stats have twice the budget that INT does. IE, you can get 320 Crit instead of 160 INT. It's around 32k Spellpower that Crit starts outperforming INT. Keep in mind that I did say INT is great, but you get enough of it passively and with hybrid gemming. Here's a good read: howtopriest.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1837#stats

    • @ThedailydruidBlogspot1985
      @ThedailydruidBlogspot1985 11 років тому

      Aliena
      you compare 2 crit vs 1 intellect, However, I am talking about 1 crit vs 1 intellect. As you said you can get 320 Crit instead of 160 Int but you cannot get a 320 intellect gem instead of a 320 or 160 Crit gem because there is not such a thing in the game. What would have happened if you could?
      I am not trying to prove that you are wrong or something. I am just sharing my thoughts and I expect your answers. I am good at maths, derivatives and returns as an economist so I am trying to see how this works out.

    • @taggedJC
      @taggedJC 11 років тому

      lakisleykos The point is that you can't compare Int and Crit point-for-point, since you get 2 Crit per point of Int from almost every source. So, the places where you actually make decisions (ie gemming and reforging) you aren't going to go directly for Int (since you get 2 Crit for every 1 Int while gemming, and you can't reforge Int). It would only be trinkets that would potentially have Int vs Crit procs, but these are mostly balanced around the 1 Int = 2 Crit idea as well, again making the Crit trinket more valuable.

    I cant seem to grasp the concept of healing one bit. No matter how hard I try, I just cant seem to do it. I know there's always the option of "If you cant do it, maybe you just suck", but I don't want to give up. I've played both other roles, but I cant seem to grasp this one. Any tips? This guide was helpful a bit, but didn't teach me the basics, which I still cant seem to understand even through dungeons and proving grounds. I know I'm not a bad player in general due to my DPS being on-par or better with current standards.

    • @blaqueknight
      @blaqueknight 10 років тому

      I'm just like you, I don't understand healing at all. I can dps/tank just fine. I'm working on doing Proving Grounds, but I can't keep my tank up when he takes too much damage. After watching this guide I'm even more lost on Disc healing. There is so much going on. I think I'll just use that toon as a bank alt.

    • @fearture7485
      @fearture7485 10 років тому +1

      Yeah, I got the Dragon-soul transmog set for my priest, but I cant really play him which sucks. I would do shadow, but Blizzard nerfed shadow priests to the ground.

    • @blaqueknight
      @blaqueknight 10 років тому

      Play what you like. I play an Ele Shaman. Not the best dps, but I love it. I'm sure Shadow offers utility like Ele.

    • @fearture7485
      @fearture7485 10 років тому +1

      Shadow has so much utility compared to other classes, concidering priests are the only
      two-healing-specced class in the game.

      @ahmadsoliman9919 10 років тому

      Aliena i find renew very healp ful to just passivly heal dps that may be takeing little damage at a time heal bot is helpful lol

    • @megailadan
      @megailadan 10 років тому

      Ahmad Soliman When you get to later levels renew becomes really inefficient for hp regen, you will get more out of casting a greater heal than a renew in majority situations. And if there is only a small amount of damage on the player, cast a bubble and just do some dps to a target. As a disc priest your spells such as Smite, Holy fire, and Penance automatically restore decent hp to the most damaged party member and any crit heals from that will auto cast a bubble on them which will not affect your power word shield bubble.
      Renew is only useful for holy with it's boost.
      Hope that helps.

    • @Climate1991
      @Climate1991 10 років тому +1

      You guys are kinda missing the biggest point, 15% damage and healing= 15% more absorbs and healing from atonement/D.A, meaning every progression fight you do that last 35% life your doing 15% more damage healing and passive absorbs until that boss dies, and every time someone spikes below 35% life and your smart heals heal them your doing 15% more healing for the duration of the buff, no internal cd, no actual cd like P.I

  • @KrohnosOW

    You say to have your crit 2-3% above your mastery, but yours is 5% apart. Is that because you're not in a raid group with all those buffs, or...? I'm currently trying to achieve that goal and am balancing out, with many crit gems, at 24.4% crit, 30% mastery.

    • @Saonserey
      @Saonserey  11 років тому +3

      If you look at my char, you'll see I'm fully gemmed and reforged for crit. It's just really hard to get rid of mastery this tier. Crit pieces are harder to get.

    • @VitaliusVitality
      @VitaliusVitality 11 років тому

      Yea, it is almost impossibru to get crit above mastery. I'm at 43% mastery and 36% crit with no way to skew crit any higher.

    There are a few things wrong with this guide, your glyphing is wrong, mana cost is important, even more so as a priest, the 20% mana increase on penance is not worth being able to cast while moving prayer of mending glyph gives 60% more healing on the first target its used on, this is significant considering you already covered the "double bubble" for tank healing, 60% more healing for single target is an obvious pick. For pvp, combined with the set effect its literally a must have. 6% less spell damage or 50% armour? again its obvious. As for weakened soul, you already took divine insight, so that 2 seconds wont have any impact what so ever, you'd be better off swapping it out for something like glyph of renew, or reflective shield in pvp. Top marks for correcting all those scrubs giving priority to int over crit/mastery. Not knowing that simple fact is what has turned people into thinking holy is better than disc, this is simply bad players not understanding mechanics. Overall this is a good guide, you've explained all you points very well, would love to hear more on your'e outlook on disc priests in the future, kudos for being a chick who knows what she's talking about when it comes to wow too ^^ .
