    Thank you for an unbiased and data heavy review. You did a far more technical litany of tests and I am happy to have "paid" for the data with the product. To that end, swing by anytime to pick up a couple of cages. I'll fire up the grill.

    I could definitely hear that more air was being moved on the Twilight wheels. This comes with the bonus of moving more air to keep the motors cool and the caveat of the motors having to push back against drag.

    Love testing videos, would also love if there was some standard deviation info as well to see if the difference between high and low is from a few outliers or if there's consistency issues across a majority of shots.

    • @Bobololo
      @Bobololo  4 роки тому +5

      I can add that in for the future. The biggest outliers were from darts being decapitated which I don't, and wouldn't, count.

    Thanks for the effort you put into testing all these different setups. This is incredibly helpful to the average builder to have access to what amounts to a very deep well knowledge.

    Love the science! The twilight sound reminds me of ducted fans a bit.

    Hey I might be 3 years late but I believe the buzzing noise is the cohesive interference between the modes in the twilight wheels. If the holes are spaced such that the rpm is a multiple of the wavelength generated then the sound will have what we call harmonics. IE the same pitch an octave up. Of course I could be wrong, I am not a sound engineer or wave physicist (sorta).

    Finally got around to watching this. Been very curious about this as I have been working pretty closely with twilights. Love how much effort you put into your tests. Will be awaiting the horizon and megillah videos eagerly.

    What are the motor spacing of the high crush and low crush used in your testings? 40mm? Even 40mm or 41mm can make a difference.

    • @Bobololo
      @Bobololo  4 роки тому

      According to the OoD page, it's 41 and 40mm

    What was the crush on the metal cage? Those numbers seem kind of low, many people including myself have gotten 150-170 on high crush single stage daybreaks. AF waffles are the darts most people use when running them.

    • @Bobololo
      @Bobololo  4 роки тому +1

      I will be switching to Adventure Force waffles for the future- I was using Ray Squad waffles they sent me last year. Had a lot of those laying around and they're what I've used in the past. The main point of this video was for apples to apples comparison with everything being the same- not to compare it to other people. I may need to get a new chronograph or just use what everyone else is. Lots of possible little variables.

      I'm hitting 170fps with 3s Neo-Rhino motors, they're a lot faster spin up and more torque than fang revamped motors

  • @thekingofplay8539

    So what is the theory on why high crush got lower velocities than the low crush? I'm just curious since high crush has been the goto for higher velocities.
    I assume the reason that 3s was worse was that the RPMs were too high causing dart slippage?
    My current 1st gen Daybreak cage is set at high crush with Neo Hellcats.
    Fresh Adventure force waffle darts averaged 168 but will hit low 180s. Use the same darts a 2nd time however and they struggle to hit mid 160s. Fresh darts are the only way to hit the higher velocities on my current setup.
    Makes me wonder if the lower crush setting would hit as hard, but would eliminate that velocity drop issue when using the same darts a 2nd time. Less dart wear?

    • @Bobololo
      @Bobololo  4 роки тому

      Not only dart slippage, but causing the wheels to slow down too much before the dart leaves the wheels.
      As for the fresh dart part, I can only think that fresh darts have more rigidity to them which helps get higher FPS? Not entirely sure.

    • @thekingofplay8539
      @thekingofplay8539 4 роки тому

      @@Bobololo that makes sense, I may have to play around with my crush setting. I have spare Daybreak wheels for just the reason.
      Yeah, it has to come down to the fresh foam being more ridged.
      Didn't think I'd see such a drop after one use though.

    I have pair of cages in metal, was lucky enough to pick up rayven and stryfe one during ragnar 2019. Sadly I don't know which is what crush

    • @SuicideNeil
      @SuicideNeil 4 роки тому

      Easy- chuck some motors in, then measure the distance from shaft to shaft, and that is the cage crush. Obviously however crush is affected by the flywheel diameter and which mounting holes you use if there are multiple options to adjust crush.

    • @Bobololo

      The Horizon and Megillah cages? I haven't gotten either yet- I much prefer metal cages overall and recommend them for higher crushes as well.

    • @Bobololo
      @Bobololo  3 роки тому

      @Guntas Singh Metal cages have a few benefits over printed:
      - Metal is heavier and absorbs some of the vibrations from the motors to help make your build quieter.
      - Metal cages can also absorb some of the heat given off from the motors. I've had some warm cages after doing shooting tests and while I don't know how much it helps, I'm sure there's a small benefit from it.
      - Some 3d printed cages can have a bit of flex to them which isn't too great when they're moving from darts going through the wheel at certain crush levels.
      - Going off that, a metal cage doesn't flex lol
      - I've had more than one 3d print break on me when tightening the motor screws. I know you don't have to tighten them a lot, but I really want them secure as well as thread locked in.
      - They're metal, which is cooler and fancier.

    • @Bobololo
      @Bobololo  3 роки тому

      @Guntas Singh 3d printed cages have done well for lots of people so you're good! They're still a solid option!
