His face got better as the conversation on. Especially when he puts his thumb and pointer finger on the forehead. He's like, "Oh no. This is not happening." But I wanted to strangle Joe for just sitting there and letting them put her through it. He watched his son lie for him and did nothing!

I think I'm of the opposite opinion TBH, I feel like anyone can act, at least to some degree. Obviously some are better than others but then some people are more engaging to watch than others in real life too. The clip you referenced isn't anything special really, it's not like she went from giggling to distraught/crying, it was a pretty basic line, rehearsed many, many times. I don't know, I feel like if you're used to acting as a profession it'd be quite routine to split up the takes with a little bit of lighthearted banter etc. I don't really see anything amazing there. She does act well though, but again, she's also very engaging off camera. All that said some actors really aren't that charasmatic off camera, but then I suspect that's because they're deliberately hiding their real character from the public, they just want to act and go home. I might be wrong.
@@futurez12 If everybody can act, then everybody WOULD act. What was the purpose of your long boring essay? To lecture us all, to prove you are a pompous smartass?!
Olivia, David and Jodie carried this entire show on their shoulders. What tremendous casting & the production is incredible as well - and of course, the story. Season 3 in particular.
[Spoiler] - - - - - i think Andrew Buchan as Mark Latimer is incredible as well, his story may not be as positive as Beth's but his impact as a grieving father is especially breakthrough from the stereotypical view of a masculine man. Him wanting to carry that responsibility on his shoulder for his family and his son but also felt that he had failed them and felt guilty of Danny's death / family unfortunate events, you can tell he is struggling to cope, and is struggling to find a way to continue living, not like Beth and tried to kill himself in the end of S3.
@@eng4671 I agree. Mark's story was really heartbreaking to me and I think the actor did an incredible job on the same level as Olivia, David and Jodi; too bad he gets overlooked. His story is really, really sad and my heart broke for that man...
I love the continuation from season 1. Shows the reality that criminal proceedings are long, tiresome and just tormenting. Brilliant acting and great story, plus cinematography..oh just outstanding
Oivia and Tennant are outstanding and so were the rest of the cast. The plot line was worked out so masterfully that it made the actors skill match the story to a cinch.
You have to truly admire the actor who played Joe. Even when he spoke on camera as the actor, I wanted to punch him. That takes a particular set of skills. If he develops a good career, let's hope to see him as an Alan Rickman sort of actor.
And also Olivia Colman who played one of Prisoner Zero's human forms in the Doctor Who episode, "The Eleventh Hour", alongside Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, and Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams.

OMG! Having already seen this as it aired in Britain, and knowing the outcome, I won't spoil it for the rest of my fellow Americans who didn't get sneaky and watch ummm, not illegally, but through deceptive means is all I will say. LOL ;)
I saw the series here in America but they did not have Season 2 ever shown. I was giddy with joy when I discovered it on BBC America! I saw both seasons and it took a bit of time to get used to most of the characters being portrayed by different actors, but eventually I did. I just finished reading BROADCHURCH the novel and I am left wanting to read more and see more......so I discovered that a Season 3 is in the making and I can not wait!! I'm still trying to figure out if there is another book or not! Anyone know??
he looks more like benedict cumberbatch for me and his voice as well. so, i was confused in the first if it was benedict or not. i just have to search the casts. 😂😂😂😂
That's the part that scares me where he can go from one end of the spectrum to the other end of the spectrum or women that he's funny and happy and the next minute he's like runforyourlife the storm is coming don't scratch that the storm is already here not to mention that kind of makes me feel very claustrophobic very intense
So tell me. Does Chibnal show the same... issues... here as he does with Doctor Who? Where he writes all sorts of stuff up until the last 5 minutes and then goes SHIT I HAVE TO TELL 50% OF THE STORY IN 5 MINUTES and rushes to finish it? I have only watched clips and not a whole episode as of yet (can't seem to find where to stream it in Canada), and I'm weary because of how this happens in Chibal's Who stories.
I feel like chibnall either ain't putting any effort into doctor who or he got eaten by the absorbaloff and replaced by the bad writer we know for doctor who series 11 and 12. Because broadchurch looks GOOD
Broadchurch was an award-winning show and massively blown up, series 2 isn't as good as series 1 although that could be personal feelings about the trial but it's a beautifully shot and really well written and paced show. A bit on the slower side but that's on purpose. Some of the best writing around for that show. And in fairness that could also be down to individual episode writers on DW. But Broadchurch is very much respected and acclaimed. It's a lot of the reason he was chosen for DW despite the shows being wildly different style wise.
Chibnall didn't write Broadchurch, he directed it-and did a pretty good job tbh. He also made some really good episode in Torchwood, imo Adrift (cmiiw) is still one of the best DW episode ever written. But yeah, I still don't understand what happened to him as DW showrunner. Nevermind the timeless children, the chemistry and relationships in 13th Doctor is just really bad, especially with the companions. And just by seeing Broadchurch, Chibnall could direct damn good personal drama, so I really really don't understand. It's baffling.
so i'm from America, and their court stuff is really confusing me.... why is Joe Miller in a cage? what are these wigs their wearing that look like something the founding fathers would wear?why are their 3 judges?? and why are Danny's parents sitting where the Jury is supposed to sit????
+TheSpookyRedSparkle 1) It's because he is a suspected murderer and it is a safety precaution. 2) They wear funny wigs because that's just what people do in court XD. 3) There is one Judge, then there is the prosecution (Jocelyn) and the defense (the other woman, I don't know her name). 4) There are two places to sit, one for family and friends, one for the jury
Bosie The wig thing is one of the many Traditions kept from a nearly ancient history of The British Justice system. America being a fairly young nation they're not likely to have traditions like that.
Typical American ignorance and insularity. 3 judges? Because that's how we do things here! Y ou lot really can't get your heads around the fact that other countries do things differently. Alec's face when he gets accused of an affair with Ellie is priceless. He's so confused.

My only thing was that Bishop accused Miller and Hardy of an affair with no evidence and just went ham at her
Because as a defense attorney all she had to do was raise reasonable doubt.

David and Olivia are gems; their on-screen chemistry makes this show.
