DAVID WITH THE HOT TAKES
Anthony Libardi I love when he’s political side comes out lol
Man. We can’t seem to get anything to work here.
Doctor2020. I’d vote for him.
He seems very anti war, and anti gun. Which I like.

Can we just take a moment and admire David Tennant's socks?
Elizabeth Sharon my god its beautiful DAVID TENNANT MAY I BORROW UR SOCKS?
FU Tennant 4life
the lining of his jacket is just as iconic
Can we just take a moment to admire 10 pretending to be a Scottish actor named David Tennant?
If i ever wear a suit, which is possible (style choice) i need to get me a pair of them socks. 🧦

Shane G Technically, he wasn't. He played The Doctor, but wasn't in reality The Doctor cus The Doctor doesn't exist in reality. The Doctor is a fictional character.
April Morone You never know...
Michael Fryers 😉
It's also a jock. He's Scottish.
The way his face and voice lit up was PRECIOUS!
He's 100% correct! EVERY Doctor has had issues from people. Capaldi was too old. Smith was too young. Tennant was too unknown. Eccleston was known for playing villains. There's always a damn issue and the only ones that stick with it are the true fans.
also there was the whole "dOeS hE kNoW hE cAn'T sWeAr" thing
also there was the whole "dOeS hE kNoW hE cAn'T sWeAr" thing

Wrong, new season suck. Doctor being a woman is all they had. S11 sucks, deal with it instead of blaming the fans.
Fridaey13txhOktober Jodie herself, as the Doctor, was great though. We didn’t just get a new Doctor, we got a whole new writer who hasn’t written anything like Doctor Who before, and he just didn’t cut it... The Doctor was perfect, but she just didn’t get good lines or stories, along with the rest of the characters and series 11 in general.
why is no one commenting on tennant's pink unicorn socks??
Oh, are they unicorns? I thought it was birds on them.
Sundown High I just liked that he properly unbuttoned his coat as he sat down. Old school here. Or just old :) But it looks so much better. Why don't guys do that any more?
YES I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT THANK YOU

Penny Sautereau I hate it when they hated her! She’s a brilliant Dr!
Penny Sautereau JUST LIKE DAVID!
Love how she says "Am I ?" It's so cute :3
She's my third favorite Doctor.
Jodie Whittaker has been great, loved her energy, warmth and enthusiasm and when she gets a bit steely. The writing for her has unfortunately been pretty poor in season 11, hopefully that improves with season 12

Hayden Hagmann As far as I’m concerned, he still IS.

God I wish they would have let him talk with his Scottish accent when he played the Doctor.

Backlash for Capaldi being too old
Backlash for Whittaker being woman
There's nothing wrong with a bit of backlash...it's when they apply it to a misogynistic narrative that should have been cast out decades ago is when it should be exposed for what it is

How can he not mention Jessica Jones, he was great as Kilgrave
Or any of his movies that are coming out (hopefully) soon.
The cynic in me says "because it's on a streaming service and he's paid by a traditional TV network".
The more charitable person in me says "because he's *most* known as Dr. Who, and most _recently_ known for Broadchurch, and he's on the show today to advertise Broadchurch. That explains why those are the shows that get mentioned".
He was the lead actor for multiple seasons in those other shows. He was a one-series antagonist nearly two years ago on Jessica Jones.
Maybe because he was naming "imports from across the Pond" and Jessica Jones doesn't qualify?
He was good as Kilgrave but I think Scrooge McDuck is a better villain personally
He really is a great dude, just honest, decent and filled with integrity. I wish nothing but the best for this guy.
"Yeah I love Bond too, but I could BE the Doctor. Turns out I was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "

It's stupid . Grown adults throwing tantrums because the new doctor is a woman, I think you're forgetting the doctor isn't even human , so why the hell would it matter anyway?
Saddbear bruh I thought you were me
Saddbear because she doesn't seem eccentric enough for the doctor
It´s the time and place of the whole thing.
If it had come out immediately after david Tennant left there wouldn´t have been nearly that big of a stink over it.
Because it would have been properly foreshadowed and the story would probably have flowed naturally..
But in this day and age with all the behind the scenes shenanigans, plus all the feminist retorik thrown into Doctor Who starting with turning the Master into a woman (who acted nothing like any of the old master, but more like someone who escaped from a mental asylum) and only getting worse from there on.
Alot of people can see the writing on the wall.
The doctor won´t change into a woman, because the story could evolve into him accepting that as necessity, but because the higher ups at the BBC wants it so.
Most likely if the story continues in the same vein as before, Doctor Who will be turn into a mouth piece for the regressive left, in the same way Ghostbusters was.
Also with fewer and fewer male icons left, yes you bet ALOT of people are going to be angry at another one being taken away.
Especially because it would be so easy to create a show based in the doctor who universe featuring a woman, without the need of changing Doctor Who.
It has been shown to be something that could be done, with the excellent show called the Sarah Jane Adventures (which was cut short with the tragic death of Elisabeth Sladen).
But instead of putting in the energy to do so, they just co-opted Doctor Who and turned a predominant male character into a female.
Erikjust
I mean, 13 IS a odd number
lyra lupin I don't watch Doctor Who, but even I know the Doctor can change. The character is ever changing his (or in this case hers) looks. Doesn't surprise me in the least.
Aw that was sad. I felt like Stephen wasn't quite as prepared to respond to Tennant's monologue with "The geeks will inherit the earth.' Like mentally he had already moved onto the next thing and wasn't ready for what could have been a beautiful nerdy bonding experience between two of my favorite people. Womp womp.
He was clearly rushing. :(
Daffy yep. Tragic 🙁
Yeah :/ As another weasely looking kid that obsessed over Lord of the Rings, I was expecting more camaraderie here
To be fair, after watching Stephen talk with Kelly Ripa yesterday about being a talk show host and having to be conscious of time, I can see how he was trying to make sure he had time to talk about Broadchurch because that is Tennant's most recent work and probably why he was on the show? But still, it's a bummer that I could watch them have more of a bonding moment that I expected them to have.
I hope he comes back on the show. It was so rushed for time and I would love to watch them geek out together. They are both so witty and amazing.
David Tennant: Explains childhood dream being fulfilled in a witty and interesting way

A+ interview skills
I thought Colbert lacked rapport and dropped the ball on one of the more interesting parts of the interview.
hearing tennant angry, whether mock-angry or genuine is always hilarious
Best Doctor without question.
Best one most people remember.
The best.
Tennet is great. But for me, Tom Baker with his scarf was the best

Yeah. Puzzling as Colbert is a nerd himself. Then again David is a bit like a runaway train!

piplupcola I just listened to him read a couple of Doctor Who stories & he was amazing! He definitely needs to do more audiobooks.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
David is without a doubt one of my favorite actors (he is SO talented) and defintely THE best Doctor, if you ask me. It doesn't make the other actors' performances bad but I feel like he suited the role so perfectly ! and he seems like such a nice man too...
My favorite thing about David is how diverse he is. He'll do any genre if he enjoys it, and his enthusiasm shows. I don't think I've ever seen a performance where he didn't do his best.
If I'm not mistaken, Tennant was the first actor insisting to be credited as "The Doctor" instead of "Doctor Who" and it makes sense, since in the show they're all repeatedly referring to themselves as "I'm The Doctor." After Tennant asked it, they kept it that way up until now, including for Smith and Capaldi. But then again, I don't think it's wrong to say, "You're the 10th Doctor Who." either.
Aside from the fact that all the actors before Tennant were all credited as "Doctor Who" it's also because from a non-fan POV, if they heard, "You're the 10th Doctor!" They probably would be like, "What? Is this a show similar to Grey's Anatomy or smth?" 😂
Pretty sure Capaldi himself slipped once or twice occasionally and refers to his character "Doctor Who" and not "The Doctor" because he's a big fan of Classic Who and was so used to refer to the character as "Doctor Who."
Tom Baker was the first to be credited as The Doctor. In his final season when John Nathan-Turner took over as producer.
Yeah you are mistaken, Tennant asked for it to be reinstated, not introduced
Welp. I misinterpreted what I read about Tennant then. Or maybe the one I read was referring to the new Who. Hahaha.
@Stuff
About one of the few good things JNT did
I agree completely. Of course it would be more accurate to refer to him as "The Doctor", but that name is so generic that you would have to add "... from Doctor Who" behind it, unless everyone is already knows you're talking about Doctor Who. That seems silly to me, when you can just refer to him as "Doctor Who" and get everyone on the same page.
If I'm talking to another Whovian, and we already know who we're talking about, I'll call him "The Doctor", but otherwise I'll probably call him "Doctor Who". It just makes sense.
So long as the show doesn't try to make a huge deal out of the fact that The Doctor is now a woman and just plays it straight, who cares?
somanytakennames you think no one in the show will notice that the doctor is now female?? So naive
somanytakennames agreed. Providing they just write the doctor as normal I am all for it. Like, seriously, at script level just write the same character, have that character played by woman, nowt should change.
I didn't want a female doctor under Moffatt because there would be cringey period and shopping jokes. Under Chibnalls I am willing to give it a go.
Tina Loye
That's not what I mean, but nice try. What I meant was so long as the writing of the show doesn't try to say; "Hey look everyone! The Doctor is a woman now! Diversity! Woman power! Woohoo!" then who cares?
Play it straight, The Doctor's gender has never been a crucial part of the character's identity, don't make it so now just because a woman is playing the character. The idea of promoting diversity/equality is far more effective when done like that anyway, in my opinion.
i just hope that there will be a few "why doesn't this article of clothing have pockets." jokes and she has to find new places to store the screw diver....like her hair and her bra...for some lady specific humor.
I think a lot of people fear that they chose a woman just to please certain trendy and postmodern version of feminism whose followers will accuse you of rape and racism if you don't give in to their demands.
Perhaps they genuinely wanted to explore something new and have no ulterior motives. But if that's the case, then the timing is unfortunate.
Personally I don't like it because the series has had a white man for such a long time that it feel like they're breaking a tradition, rather than just mixing it up a little.
If you want more diversity on television, I think it's better to give more major roles to women and non-whites in original series.
I mean, it's not like people are outraged because a woman is getting the main role of a tv show. People get mad when you change something they're used to.
Tennant is and always will be best Doctor.
The Stoney Gamers Matt Smith
I actually prefer Matt Smith myself. Although I can't really put my finger on why. They are both great that's for sure. It's just that my favorite, so far, happens to be Smith!
'might change soon though! ^_^
Tom Baker?
Ashley "Britain, Britain, Britain."
I've liked every single one of them since David Tennant (and including David Tennant obviously). I've never seen the older version of the show so I can't speak to that, but yeah I've enjoyed all of the newer doctors, but Christopher Eccleston didn't hit all the right notes for me for some reason (probably because he wasn't as eccentric as the others, I always relate to eccentric characters). My Dad really likes Tom Baker so if I watched the old show I probably would like him too.
But imagine... Maggie Smith as The Doctor.
That could be BRILLIANT!
Or Judi Dench. Either one would be brilliant.
That would be bloody brilliant!!! :)
Helena Mirren!!!
GJDTEYAYQTRUFUFJVKNK
David Tennant in Broadchurch. Absolute gold.
i was definitely one of the "I liked the last guy, not this new guy, this show is dead to me" types when tennant came on board but he turned me around, and so did Matt Smith, and so did.... well not so much Capaldi but I blame the writing. I look forward to seein what Whitaker brings to the role.....
I felt the same way. I didn't even know about the regeneration thing, I had only seen new Who. I was like "What?? Why is he a new guy! I'm not gonna like a new guy! I like the other guy! This is ridiculous!" and then within three episodes I absolutely loved him. I never got into Matt Smith though, for me he was just okay (for which I blame Moffat) but I liked his companions. Personally, I felt Capaldi was a step up, but I'm most glad that Moffat is leaving as show-runner.
They lost such a huge chance with Capaldi... He should have been the "dark" doctor! He can be such a menace on scene... But it is what it is.
bandholm Plus they've set up these possible character traits or themes and they abandon it immediately. In the Series 8/Season 34 episode 'Into the Dalek' the Doctor asks Clara "Am I a good man?" suggesting an ambiguous sense of morality and they ditch it soon after. The same episode, in the final 5 minutes "Rusty" tells the Doctor "You are a good Dalek," hinting at his darker side possibly being explored the rest of the series. They did jack sh*t with it unlike 'Dalek' way back in Series 1/Season 27 where they spent the rest of the episode exploring the Doctor's darker side after the Dalek says "You would make a good Dalek."
Definitely me when Tennant took over for Eccleston.
吳若華 I know! Peter ended up being phenomenal. He's my favorite.
Tennant's father-in-law was also the Doctor.
Really? Which doctor?
His wife is Georgia Moffett/Tennant, the 5th doctor's daughter. She also played the Doctor's clone/daughter Jenny.
Five
Animagination The 5th Doctor. Aka, Peter Davison. Aka, David Tennant's favorite Doctor. Aka, David's childhood Doctor that gave him his life-long dream to become him (and he did).

Hahaha! "THIS SHOW IS DEAD TO ME! I RESIGN FROM THE INTERNET!!" Hahaha, very true. That was my reaction every time. XD I'm not sure about Jodie but I've watching a few episodes from every season, thinking I won't finish it, then I do. She'll be interesting to watch, for sure.

3:33 "The Geeks have inherited the Earth."
That is the single best thing I have EVER heard
3:34 the geeks have inherited the earth best line ever
Personally and controversially, I think liked Christopher Eccleston's Doctor best from the DW reboot because his series was genuinely scary and dark which made his Doctor unique. He also seemed the most human out of all the incarnations. He wasn't perfect. He was in mourning. He hated himself for what happened in the Time War. When he cried, you cried. On the rare occasion that he genuinely laughed, you laughed with him. *Fantastic!*
Tennant was an absolute joy to watch and is up there battling for No.1 spot with Eccleston but for different reasons. They are both very different so it is hard to choose between them I have nothing else to say about him that hasn't been said by everyone else. *Brilliant!*
Matt Smith was good when given the chance to shine and I did like him as a Doctor. Could have been a fave but I absolutely hated the writing for his episodes. The whole die/live/die/live thing made death meaningless in his run as Doctor and the Daleks reminded me of skittles. Clara (a good actress btw) was made a bad fanfiction Mary Sue. *Geronimo!*
Capaldi was another victim of horrific writing. There is only so much an actor can do with the material given, poor him. I was excited when they first announced him as a Doctor because of what the show could have done with him. The writers, however, didn't seem to know what sort of character they should have been writing. It was all over the place! I was hoping for something similar to his original role in Doctor Who or a strict grandfatherly Doctor like a Hartnell and Pertwee mashup, but instead we got...that. It was unwatchable except for the last series. *Shut up!*
I'm glad Moffat's gone but the new head writer worries me...His episodes haven't exactly been the highlight of the show. I hope a female Doctor will be enough to re-energise the series. Fingers crossed x. *Good luck Jodie Whitaker!*
And also Nine was, quite honestly, a bit mad with grief and rage. He wasn't just scary. He WAS fear.
But same with Moffat, we can't judge a person's writing based on their directing and vice versa.
From what we know of Moffat, he was a terrible show runner but great episode writer.
Chinball may be a mediocre episode writer, but he proved to be an arguably good show runner runner for Broadchurch.
India Hutton So long as Chris Chibnall can get the show back up to what it was under Russell T Davies, I'm all for what's in store.
And .... he lasted a season, so I don't count him. Didn't take the role seriously.
+Nautilus1972 Just because he only lasted one season doesn't mean he's not the Doctor!
I have no problem with a female doctor, as long as the writers don't have a problem with a female doctor
d4m4s74 wish it was Emma Watson
d4m4s74 i hope they write the character basically the same as they would if they were male. There really shouldn't be much difference since the doctor isn't human.
popeye697 I'd be okay with a little bit of him/her adjusting to being a female but it should be done right away first episode and not returned to. If it becomes a running theme it'd get annoying.
Just as long as it’s not turned into a show here they constantly have to show women can do things too as the previous companions already showed that themselves. I doubt the doctor will care what sex he is, I just hope they don’t make a bunch of “women are so much better than men” jokes that seemed to be all over the Moffat era.
Raziel Uchiha omg she would have be amazing but I like jodie

i cant believe ive read this sentence with my own two eyes in the year 2017
Katy S. That's not what he goes by; all you're doing right now is trying to show off the fact that you know his birth name.
Yes, and Michael Douglas was excellent in Batman and Spider-Man: Homecoming
Samuel Irvin yeah.. So? If you've looked him up you'd know it
Molly Shay That's exactly my point, I did know that. But this person just used his birth name for no reason. It seems to me that they want to show off that knowledge, even though we could all just look that up.
David Tennant is such an awesome guy.
Best moment of this video is how perfectly David impersonated the internet trolls. Awesome as the Doctor, &*#^$ing INCREDIBLE as Kilgrave.
How do you get any better then David Tennant? He is one in a million and I truly wish him the best. 💜
David is fun to interview
I love his socks.
(I preferred the ones he wore yesterday in the DuckTales interviews)
He always has awesome socks. Are those birds on them this time?
That's what I thought; someone else said unicorns.
I absolutely love his imitation of people swearing off the show every time The Doctor regenerates. That is exactly what I've seen every single time, long before Jodie lol. While this is the first time I've been absolutely ecstactic about the next Doctor, I've been watching the show since I was 8 years old, even if I didn't like the direction the show was going (haven't completely experienced that yet luckily) I'm along for the damn ride. I'm too invested in this, you can pry my love for this show from my cold dead hands.
There was an uproar when the Doctor *first* regenerated way back in 1966, and look at the show now, fifty-two years on. Let 'em complain, I say. We'll be here in fifty more years when it's still going strong.
This was proposed to me. Never seen before, but love Colbert & Tennant. And I’m delighted to see how very timely this all is - in every respect!
Just finished watching BROADCHURCH on Netflix..really good series.
Broadchurch is on Netflix? Where?
love it
"It's a peculiarly British thing. I think we see something that works, and we run from it." Hahaha oh man. I'm from the States but that seems to be so true with most British culture I see.
Americans just can't seem to grasp the concept of irony.
For us in the States it's more like seeing a thing that definitely will not work and then running towards it.
aclaybass I read this as he said it

I just discovered Broadchurch last week. It's absolutely brilliant!!! I got so hooked I finished all 3 seasons in 5 days 😁
5:44 Most beautiful smile ever. He is incandescently awesome.
David Tennant is my favorite Doctor. This dude expressed too much emotion, he is even in some of my favorite Doctor Who episodes.
Also he killed it playing Kilgraves in Jessica Jones.
I’m a simple human.
I see David.
I click
David Tennant is my Doctor since childhood!
Well, can't wait for Jodie's performance in Doctor Who.
My Doctor. Smith was fun, and he had some of the best lines they ever wrote ("A forest in a bottle, on a spaceship in a maze... have I impressed you yet?"), and Capaldi reminded me a bit of the first Doctor, plus A.D.D.... I loved Smith with Clara, that was an exceptional team, but hated her with Capaldi. His Doctor was a bit of a prick.
Tennant's Doctor had it all. He looked young most of the time, but he had such ancient eyes whenever he had to deal with loss... which he had plenty of. I really miss seeing him and Rose together.
Hint to the BBC. which will never see this... The Doctor that came from the biological meta-crisis is still alive, and he has a daughter out there who has a whole lot of running to do.
"Jenny" is doing some Big Finish audio adventures, at least.
Eff you for what you said about the Twelth Doctor and Clara..
Oh Jenny is brilliant sure, but let's not forget the 13 children he had with Patience. Wouldn't mind running into one of them!
lukus black I didn’t like Peter Capaldi at all.
I'd love to see meta!Doctor and Rose on that other Earth again, even for just a scene or two. Maybe as part of a special? I've been waiting for Jenny to pop back up ever since they threw her out into the universe in that open-ended manner. I like to think she's having Dr Who style adventures with a ship and companions of her own.
The 10th doctor will never be surpassed.
Well 13 is my lucky number.. We will see.
Carewolf my lucky number is 73
With a new doctor every two years, I hope you are a Time Lord.
The twelfth doctor is infinitely better than the others

"That's nice," Colbert says dismissively and proceeds onto the next topic. I realize he'd got a time limit and tried to cut Tennant off already, but maybe be a bit more uhhhh genuine??
That's why I love Graham Norton's talk show, he actually let's the guests speak and seems so much more genuine.
Whether he really said "that's nice" and cut him off or not, it makes Stephen look like he cut him off, which is kinda weird. There are better ways to do a segue.
David will always be the best doctor, without a shadow of a doubt! ❤️❤️😊
3:27 I’m just thinking of Crowley and Aziraphale toasting that near the end of Good Omens 😂 “to the world” “to the _world_ “
its been 6 years and i still have a crush on David Tennant
David Tennant is so charming. I could hear him talk all day. lol
Tennant is always the best in everything he does. Amazing dude, absolutely love him.
That Brexit joke though 😂
And his socks are fantastic 👌🏻
Love this man! His Doctor was just incredible! My all time favorite episodes in the series!
What a talented man. He does it all.
David is such a genuine soul who really seems to have no ego. He's the mate you go grab a beer with or have as the best man at your wedding.
I like how Stephen made the connection to Harry Potter with Robert Pattinson playing Cedric Diggory just leaving the set before David Tennant who played Barty Crouch Jr. being the reason for his death, because that's exactly what I was thinking. :P
He’s very attractive. 😍
@cosmicblossoms 09 How exactly does that make him not attractive?
Yeet Chicken It's not like they were asking for a marriage proposal, nor did they think Tennant was going to be single for the taking. Lmfao, everyone knows Tennant is married.
It's like I stand next to you saying "the sky is very beautiful" and you say "it's blue, and you can't touch it". Gee, thanks for the obvious irrelevant information.
Love David Tennant and Jodie Whitaker. I've really enjoyed both their versions of The Doctor. Hopefully at some point they'll get to do an episode together.
Let's be honest. This man is the most versatile and broad actor in the world
Heh. Broad.
