YAYYYYYYY!! Airedales!! My mom was so happy and the only thing she could negative was "Not long enough!" LOL! I said "Hang on because if he did this, that means a longer episode on Airedales is within sight! " Airedales, Kerry blues and Irish terriers. She would love episodes on all! But this is great step!! Mom is hanging in with her cancer. We truly appreciate your work!!! And all you do!
I had an Airedale before my current dog. I still cry sometimes thinking about him. He was so much fun. They are very tough to properly train because they are independent and stubborn. I spent many hours chasing him through the forest near my summer cottage. I miss it. He was great with other animals but could play rough with dogs that were also rough. One big thing is how strong Airedale's are. They are muscular and very solid. Be careful allowing a young child to hold his leash. Airedale's are fantastic and loving. Do not get one unless you are willing to exercise him every day a lot. They need to run and play as much as possible. They are not couch potatoes. If you want a lap dog or a dog that lies around, get a Bassett hound. Do not get any dog based only on thinking it is cute. You will be sorry.
I worked with dogs for 20 yrs and have had a lot of experience with this breed. They are a truly wonderful and versatile breed. True working dog that can also be a family pet. Great temperaments, great dogs! EDIT TO ADD: Super smart and fearless protection dogs!
Airedale owner here. The grooming is intense! Those are show coats. You spend hours on grooming every week to have your Dale look like that. Otherwise, they look wild and totally different. Best breed ever though.
My Howard looks like a big furry teddy bear when his coat grows out . I have a picture of him in the desert with a solid carpet of yellow flowers wild and I goo Ed and it really captures his personality. I prefer I groomed to groomed for him but still just for comfort and health I will clip him back everyone in awhile but I keep him bathed regardless because he tends to smell a little
CAN be stubborn? That gave me a good chuckle. Now on my fourth Airedale, I'd say that's an understatement! Belligerent and obnoxious too. Did I mention belligerent? And obnoxious? And yes, stubborn. I don't see the problem here ;-)
I had an Airedale that was bred for goose hunting. It was a great ice swimmer and hunting retriever, good with children. and of calm disposition. Airedales bred for goose hunting/retrieving are about twice the size of a normal Airedale as goose get real Big.
A brilliant introduction to the forgotten King of Terriers. I hope we get to see a full episode to the Airedale Terrier and perhaps other terrier breeds - Manchester Terrier, Irish Terrier, Fox Terrier and perhaps the Kerry Blue Terrier.
My Airedale was the biggest of its litter and beat up its litter mates but he turned out just fine :). He loves to play and is very kind and social with other dogs.
I’ve had dogs since I was a kid. I’m on my second Airedale. If you want one just be advised you have to be a strong dog owner. But it’s worth the extra training. He is loyal and great with kids
On my 3rd Oorang Airedale terrier. Beware of the teen year, heart of a lion. Wife and grandchildren untouchable if perceived threatened. No one is ever at the door, most back 20 feet or more. I work nights, can't beat an Airedale for not having to worry about my wife while at work
ty foote already he'd her spayed, I have had lots of puppies in the past. Beagles, pointers, yorkies, and years ago, airedales. I wouldn't want to breed any more. No time now days. Thanks for the offer.
The standard breed seems to be getting bigger without the dodgy in-bred Oorang traits. Our last lad was a lean 47kg, current 5 month puppy must be over 25kg already - teenwolf! Ah, the screaming in the night! That will be the burglar!
Wonderful dogs, incredibly loyal, and great watchdogs. I'm just waiting for a puppy now, after being diverted to Siberians, and Standard Poodles over the years. Standards are also amazing, but something about Airedales.
My nan had an airdale lovely brave dog but her other dog a Kerry blue was just a trouble maker lol😆 he use to fight other dogs at a drop of the hat,,but the big airdale was a joy
Je suis un peu partiale, j'ai une airedale, j'adore ces chiens très intelligents, affectueux, patients avec les petits humains, très bons gardiens protecteurs de la famille. De plus un amour de chien.6
no, not at aii. and happy not to be Croatian. I like Amarican Cockers. I have had 2 of them. Super dogs. They have beenn heroes allsow against the American Pitbull Terriors, when they have been between my legs, and American Pitbull Terriors have been afread to come closer to me :-)
So, the Airedales that you are showing on the video are groomed for show. That requires anything but light grooming. To keep an Airedale looking like those in the video it takes hours of grooming EACH WEEK! The light grooming description accompanying this video is exceptionally misleading. Just saying.... But Yes, Airedales totally rock and I wouldn't have any other breed!
People have actually matched these in the pit, sad to say but apparently they was extremely good fighting dogs..sad to fight any dog but this shocked me
Hello you seem knowledgable, I’m about to buy a welsh terrier, it is 6 weeks as of today, I was wondering how they act it terms of protecting or realising threatening situations and how loyal they are. I previously owned a fox terrier
meme the memestar 69 Welsh Terrier looks a little like Airedale, and indeed, is descended from this breed by way of crossing with other Terriers. But Welsh Terrier has a very individual personality, and it has been said that of all Terriers the Welsh Terrier has the best manners. They are a dog who is well suited to family life because they are happy, lively, affectionate, and obedient. But he has kept the temperament of a hunter of burrowing animals. Which they were originally bred to be. Should they find themselves in the presence of the proper game. All there warrior instincts are immediately reawakened. Originally, Welsh Terriers Hunted together with bloodhounds. Who, with their noses to the ground, would follow the scent of a fox until they found his lair. It was then the Welsh Terrier job to rout out the underground quarry, and for this he was as much appreciated as the Fox Terrier. Welsh Terrier coat is thick and hard and is either Black and Tan or brindled Black. It needs special clipping when the dog is to be entered in a show. The height at the shoulder should be 15inches (38cm.) and there weight is about 20 pounds (9,1kg.). The Welsh Terrier was officially recognized in 1885 and since then has attracted a growing number of admirers. And like the Airedale are trained to be decent guard dogs due to there intelligence.
Rule number one keep them busy , rule number two never ever forget rule number one , if you don't find something for them to do they will and they are digger's if fenced in and left alone
Great dogs, ROWDY puppies. Before buying try to get a look at the side and dam. Average size is 50-55 pounds, but you'd be surprised how big they can get.
No one mentions their sense of duty. It is one of the most important things about an Airedale. I'm also dismayed that breeders present the dog in a most ugly fashion. They are far cuter than the videos/photos of show animals correctly groomed would have you believe. Requiring such a short height makes me believe that the AKC thinks of an Airedale as a large Schnauzer.
eyesky28 I've never heard of a breed that wasn't considered "one of the smartest". However, the truth is that they can't all be "the smartest". Just because their owners *consider* them something, doesn't mean that's what they actually are.

Better than a dog. Airedale!!
There is no other breed for me! Mine is the perfect service dog and is my best friend!

I’m planning on getting one. Can you tell me about their shedding? Like do they shed a lot or they don’t
@@kavyamgowda6493 I have one who sheds and one who doesn’t. The one who sheds sheds a ton.

Good cold weather dog.
INTELLIGENT DOG BREED, AND MY FAVORITE.
Two more things. They are smart, sometimes too smart. Can be stubborn.

My great-aunt fostered Airedales so I've always wanted one. You have a great voice for voiceovers btw.
C'est vraiment le Roi des terriers !
Magnifique !

They're so cool-looking!
Hope to see longer version of the Airedale terrier. Still hoping for the Standard Schnauzer and Smooth Collie(one of the vulnerable breeds).
dont count on it man he only does Cane Corsos for long videos
On my 3rd Oorang Airedale terrier. Beware of the teen year, heart of a lion. Wife and grandchildren untouchable if perceived threatened. No one is ever at the door, most back 20 feet or more. I work nights, can't beat an Airedale for not having to worry about my wife while at work
thats why they were used for hunting grizzly bears and mountain lions. tough as nails.

You should do a series on some of the larger Terrier type breeds, like the Airedale and the Black Russian Terrier and Giant Schnauzer.

Airdales should never be SHAVED. Their coats should be STRIPPED. Very important.
Kameo Hosley you are so correct. Very important
Should I brush my airdale

They are not real smart. They look great and are of good temperament, but not much upstairs.
They are considered as one of the smartest breed and one that we own is living proof.........:)

Eye guy, You must be an owner or a brit... Sorry pal, but they are what they are and in this breed, they aren't....
Airedales are very intelligent - they can run rings around most humans.
That has merit......
