    The Airedale Terrier is known as the King Of Terriers. It is undoubtedly the largest of all terrier breeds. Along with it's majestic looks, the Airedale is an elite working dog. The breed excels at hunting small and medium game.Originating in England the Airedale was originally used to hunt otter and other vermon.

    THANK YOU!!!!!!! I showed this to my mom over the weekend! Her Pancreatic Cancer caused her real pain for the first time since diagnosis, so it was really rough until she could get some steroids yesterday. This video is something she was asking for, ever since I showed her that your videos exist. She loves Airedales. Also Kerry blue terriers and Irish terriers. This could not have come at a better time. We don't know how much time she has left. 6 months? Less?

    My daughter moved to Texas and lived in the suburbs Soon after moving in a coyote killed their cat. The neighbors told her she would have to be outside with her young children because the coyotes would try for them too. I told her to get an Airedale pup. The pup grew up with them. Nothing was getting past him to hurt them . He even wouldn't let me near them until told I was OK.

      @@HarrisonHollers When I went into the yard he put himself between me and my grandchildren and started growling. A big dog warning growl doesn't sound like anything like when they are playing. Even after letting him know I was okay he was still stand offish until They started playing with me. I grew up around big dogs and have had some myself. When I was a child my sister who was only 2 was laying on a blanket with our dog while my mother was hanging up clothes. Our neighbors dog ran around the corner and lunged for my sister. Our dog caught him and within seconds the neighbors dog was dead. It was a coonhound that was valuable and our neighbor wanted dad to pay for it. Dad told him no. Their dog had no business being on our farm and our dog was only doing what it was breed to do .

    This is my breed! Love, love, love the Airedale! They require grooming but they are so worth it. They love children and were the true nanny dog. Lots of stories of farmers using these dogs to babysit the kids at the end of the row while the adults worked in the field. Gentle and kind but brave and strong. They held predators at bay until the farmer could get his gun but did not fear the adversary and would attack if need be. Airedales are not slouches. Fun, healthy, wonderful dogs. Very loving dogs.

    I had an Airedale from puppy to his death from disease at 10 years. He was so strong. Built like a truck, Smart but stubborn and would not always listen. He was a good swimmer but didn't really love the water. He would chase things into the lake but wouldn't go just for fun. My lab was a much better swimmer. I miss him so much. I have his best friend, mix of German Shepard and border collie, who belonged to my good friend who passed away 6 years ago. I agree about airedales not starting fights but would never back down. Also agree strongly about socialization. He was at the dog park almost every day

    It is mentioned just briefly, by my experience with Airedales and why I miss mine so much, is out of the five large breed dogs I've had, my Airedales truly had a sense of humor. They made me laugh daily, which was a good counterbalance for all the trouble they'd get into. Having a Airedale is a real commitment, they are not easy going labs.

    I have a airedale puppy 6months now and definitely she is attached to me at the hip. Follows me around everywhere 😀 likes hunting birds and isn't doing too bad with obedience training now. She does however get mouthy with me if I'm giving the other dogs attention. I take her to the farmers market so she can socialize with people and music and other animals. It's a full time parental job! Not like our great dane who lazes about 😀

    My Airedale could body surf better than any human. He learned in 5 minutes how to catch fish from a Labrador, when the tide was coming in.
    He would occasionally steal beach towels, and hike his leg on sand castles.
    Toddlers would approach him he would stop and let them hug him and pet him.
    I bought him, Gandolf was his name. I bought him for my wife for a wedding present in because her aunt had an Airedale that was the baby sitter and watcher of their toddler. He understood us, some things we didn't teach when I said do this or that he understood me. He understood my wife when she said " I love you Gandolf "

    I'm here to report back about Gandolf.
    When you said Airedales don't start fights, I'm reminded of a time down on the beach. We were probably a mile from my father in law's beach house. We came upon a man and his young children (toddlers). Gandolf went to say hello, and they had a very large Doberman a male, he probably weighed 100 lbs. Well the Doberman started it, they nipped at each other a little . There was a brackish lake right there 10 or so feet away. So Gandolf swam out into deep water and the Doberman went after. Big mistake cuz no dog can swim better than Gandolf. Or any Airedale, FACT.
    Gandolf swam around the Doberman and climbed on his back and was drowning him. The man said to me, " Hey your dog is killing mine" . I told him your dog was trying to kill mine, but my dog was smaller but WAY smarter. I swam out there and pulled Gandolf off. And we went back to our travels.

    Nice video, but generally, outside of show business they are way larger, my Airedale is about 3 feet tall and weighs around 85 lbs

      Yeah thats because you are supporting shitty backyard breeders that have dogs with hung papers to try to breed them as big as they can.

    Meat, bone and/or entrails? Do you buy store bought meats at an average of three-dollars a pound or, do you hunt, farm, or recover road kills? Is dumpster diving part of the formula to retrieve discarded meat?

    I want an airedale sooo bad, but as a young adult in my early 20s I don't think I have the stability to own a dog yet plus I don't know how this breed will fare in a tropical country. :/

    • @safetygirl53
      @safetygirl53 5 років тому +1

      Hot temperatures are tough for Airedales because of their thick double coat. If you keep them groomed and if they have access to water for swimming that would work. Our dog loves snow in the winter but also loves to swim in our pool after walks to cool off in the summer. Best dog we've ever had!

    comment on the oorang, large type used on bear?

    • @airedalehunter2357
      @airedalehunter2357 5 років тому

      Matthijs van Guilder anyone claiming to have ‘Oorang’ blood are puppy peddlers. Walter Lingo (originator of the Oorang line) stopped breeding in the early 1900s. There are Airedales used on Bear to this year

    • @dollipop12
      @dollipop12 3 роки тому +1

      Its used as a backyard breeder excuse to breed excessively large oversized dog aggressive dogs with hung papers that have been cross bred with pointer breeds and giant schnauzers. The original Oorang line can not credibly be traced to any existing lines. And the lines that are claimed as oorang lines are riddled with severe early onset hip and elbow dysplasia, heart problems, and cancer.
      I know of several breeders that have well rounded dogs that are used on coyotes, bear, feral hogs, trap lines, waterfowl, upland fowl, blood/scent tracking, shed retrieval, and barn clearing yet are also conformation champions that do sports and other work such as water rescue and carting. There is no need to support crap backyard breeders that use manipulative language to try to sell their product.

      Any terrier on the larger size would take on any animal.nif they took on bulls why wouldn't it attack a mountain lion. Airedale would do the same. They both are hunting breeds
