Hands-On with the ZED Mini Mixed-Reality Camera!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 лип 2018
- We visit the offices of Stereolabs, the makers of the ZED and ZED Mini mixed reality camera systems to test out their implementation of a passthrough camera accessory for VR headsets. Using their ZED Mini, we're able to get an augmented reality experience with the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and get a sense of the challenges of using a stereo camera system for passthrough AR.

Thanks for watching! - Наука та технологія
Norm is coming along leaps and bounds as an interviewer. There is nothing like the barbs of UA-cam viewers to critique any flaws. He is learning his craft well, and doing a great job. Likewise when both are presenting together.
Mark Pendragon agreed
Hate to say it but we know it's true, Will was holding back Norm for too long. It was cringy at times how much Will would try and take over and leave Norm there with his hands in his pockets. Oh god the unboxings, pretty much taking it out of his hands, and scissors/knife as if he wasn't capable.
Will has a great voice for is, but his personality... Everyone he works with act like they would rather be anywhere else.
You know, he acts like coworkers I have worked with that I knew were coke heads.
This really is the best VR, AR, MR show on the planet. You guys hit benchmarks with the way of interviewing, presentation, explanation and attitude. Top job and keep it coming, please!❤️🙏
Advice for the company, regarding the TV on the wall. 6:16 Flip the image, horizontally. So that the player's images are on the correct side relative to the players. It will confuse demonstrations, until people realise that problem.
I am pretty sure people developing mixed reality are smart enough to think of that. This is also not their channel.
lol
The people doing the tech are not necessarily the same ones marketing it. Plus if they were smart enough to think of it, they demonstrably failed to actually do it!
My statement worked on the assumption that the marketing team would be wise enough to follow up any promoting they did. Which, for Tested, would be to read through the comments.
It's awesome to see the innovation and the new things that get developed everyday. Thank yuo for showing it. I think ZED is doing a great job, especially with the counteracting of the lag. The quality of the pictures will definitly improve, as the lady said, as technology gets better. It is just a perfect add on, if u have a VR Goggle to basically make it AR. It would be nice to see a wireless version to make it accessible for larger spaces, then just 2m-3m around the computer. But that is probably a completly different topic ;)
Glad you guys looked into the ZED mini. Have been eyeing it for a while but wasn’t sure about many details.
James O’Loughlin have u seen this channel ua-cam.com/users/BaazSC2
No i haven’t, neat stuff. Thanks.
they need more people demoing it.... just a few devs r doing it ..... it's pretty interesting... even if it's not perfect
I wonder if this could be used to not only act as the tracker for other headsets LIKE the Windows MR headsets but to ALSO make some software to make the Rift and Vive compatible appear in Windows as if they really WERE a Windows MR headset and open up access to those libraries without having to own multiple headsets.
On the flip side, I wonder if there's some way to get into the images produced by the actual WMR headset cameras and make THEM compatible with software for THIS device.
AR and VR are very exciting. The possibilities are limitless.
I can't wait to play real life pokemon one day.
MakoRuu Bring on 2030!
Amazing Idea! Only to put It and have the same experience without câmeras in your Room, is an amazing Idea. I Wish It on PSVR too..
psvr sucks, get a vive.
Have you guys heard anything firm about the next version of the Rift? Or what, if any, of the features of the Halfdome thing will make it in?
I'm hoping for being able to track hands and fingers without needing a controller in hand. I realize that's probably a vain hope, but I gotta dream. :)
The Vive's passthrough can be switched to full FOV color mode. That was added a few months ago. It is much more useful that way
This is awesome. I would use my rift a whole lot more often if I didn't have to set up the cameras every time or use up precious desk space by leaving them hooked up all the time. If I wasn't in a temporary rental, then I could probably wall mount them, but atm that's just not an option. Hopefully, the next gen headsets come with this capability built-in.
This looks fun
Do you wax your arms?
Leap Motion North Star when? Can't wait on your opinion on this!
This will be a very significant technology in the future.
Could you use this in addition to the rift trackers for even better tracking, or would that cause problems?
If I have a ZED instead of ZED Mini, can I achieve the same MR experience when I attach it to Vive/Oculus? (I think so)
ADAM YOU SHOULD DO A UA-cam TOUR
now that's some cool demos...... cough cough magic leap
This video is missing from the Projections playlist on Tested.
I've been doing this for months on PSVR.... Installed a camera into the housing of my HMD to create First Person MR/AR live capture effects using free software....
Did you do human-like depth-perception based on the discrepancy between the left and right cameras? Just mounting a camera on the front of an HMD is not the same thing.
Does it work with oculus go and oculus development kit 1 and 2 ?
What is this bullisht about it having usb2?
At least stereolabs website say that the mini has a USB C connection.
I have used the original Zed a bit, and it has USB 3.0
It uses USB 3.0 protocol for the two video streams and USB 2.0 protocol for the motion sensor data.
I think the USB port that's on the Vive itself is USB 2.0, you can open up the place where the wires on in the headset to reveal an extra USB port, this is how you attach a Leap Motion to a Vive for example.
what stereo correspondence algorithm they are using?
Do Zed products support the new oculus go? Need to know urgently
Great vid btw
How were you able to animate a pile of chins and get them in a headset?
Does it work with oculus Go?
Make an infinity gauntlet with aluminum and metal on both sides
I wish there was one for oculus go
I am curisous if this device (as it was my initial assumption), or any other web cam/stereo-lens/3d camera sulotions out there are able to attatch to the Oculus Rift CV1 just a s a passthrough? Say I want to grab something form my desk IRL while watching 3D Movies in bigscreen and I dont want to take my headset off. Just push a key and get a live camera feed, See whats up in my livingroom and then pop back in to VR. Basically what I want to do is stick 1 or 2 webcams on my HMD and at any moment swith the view back and forth between VR and live feed. Has anyone come up with a decent sulotion to this? without having to buy the later HMDs with already built in cameras? Would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction as to what setup to look for. Leap Motions doesnt seem to do quite what I am looking for either althought very interesting tech.
am sure they could do more compression to afford larger bandwidth/resolution
For the first several seconds I was wondering why the "Skip Ad" prompt hadn't shown.
the camera seems cool, but it's too expensive, though with the ability to do tracking internally it kind of makes me want it still.. Hopefully it goes down in price soon.
How can it work one frame at a time? Surely it needs to at least compare this frame with the last to see the differences in order to calculate angle change in order to calc the distance and size of the object?
One frame from each camera I think
What if you can play the events in the movie in mixed reality?
Jennifer Seed Well online be in mixed reality such as Oasis?
But, is it small and close or large and far away?
ua-cam.com/video/GFTgkibl7DU/v-deo.html
Well look at that. You can use the Playstation Move Navigation controller for vr. ;)
David Olandersson VR and AR has got to be the hardest technology to please people.
they need to make like 50 demo videos at least 10 min each.... there aren't too many demos by developers
Love the vid
In b4 Facebook buys this company!
military is gonna invest and make a HUD system and target acquisition
they went with USB 2 because their cameras themselves are off the shelf chinese boards.
It’s not smart glasses. It’s augmented reality.
ze woumen iz frenche :) mdrrr

I love this series but for the love of god change the intro song.
Metalison When do we get the vr like in Ready Player One?
OR don't have music! I did not come here looking for a music video.
I can assure you, I'm not very mini.
and suddenly a million nerds screamed out in anger as they smashed their lightsaber into various objects around their room / home.

Only two Companies that I have faith they will support and improve Virtual Reality for Movie's and Video Games in the future it is Steam Valve with HTC Valve VR and SONY with PlayStation VR.
Mmr which is basically im a shitty con company label
i think technically the name for this is "Augmented Virtuality". Augmenting the real world is augmented reality. Augmenting the virtual world with real world objects is augmented virtuality.
I mean, dont they just place virtual objects on top of the real world? Like the tennis table? I think thats just augmented reality.
Mixed reality is Microsoft's name for their virtual reality platform. This channel is getting really crappy with bad information.

I can't understand her...is there a tranlator in the house?
Turn on subs.
Gregg Bond sweet, I'm amazed how well it works,
Where's the early squad? #EarlySquad
The Ostrich King Definitely not here.
Glad you got the joke. 😂
As much as I love you guys, you locate and deal with such wonderful topics, but your hosting and conversational work is sooo rough. If you want to grow the show, hire like one goofy but smart guy to actually test stuff and interview people.

Omg I’m 1st
CONGRATULATIONS!1 ua-cam.com/video/ZnowLQBnE0I/v-deo.html
bepowerification lmao thats funny af
bepowerification that was funny.
I still dont understand why people care so much about being the first comment. What is the appeal of that? I watch uploades when i get around to watching them. I hqve never sat there to refresh a channel just so i can be first comment. Some people have to much time on their hands i guess.
Truth_is_the _new_hate it's because usually the people who gets excited is because that channel most likely has a lot of subs, so it's hard to be the first comment...or
Aiden P I get why they try to. I guess i should have worded it a bit different. I dont understand why being the first comment on a youtube channel (regardless of subscriber count) would be so exciting. To each their own i guess. I kind of wish that i got excited by simple things. It takes a bjt more to excite me.
With out Jaime the show is boring and makes me want to not subscribe. I feel dooped watching three guys talking about nothing.
