Excellent review. Balanced, technical (enough), forward-looking, and acknowledged (but didn't over-emphasize) the product's shortcomings. Loved how you openly addressed and integrated the fact that reviews of this have been out there for "a while", so no need to rehash the same. Included more specifics than other reviews. And great dynamic between Jeremy and Norm - kept an improvised feel, but steadily moved through the topics. A+ !
Eh, the major short-coming is how marketing overhyped the capabilities of this thing. Got to manage this expectation
For sure
Totally agree, what a solid review.
Hear here! I agree these guys did a great job reviewing the product.
Norm and Jeremy are my gold standard for technical coverage, period. Specifically for VR! Their reviews are detailed and very comfortably, naturally paced. Their interviews typically ask the most informed questions that cut to what I'd most want to know. Whether you can tell they like a product or not, they're good at remaining critical and measured in pointing out strengths and weaknesses. Class acts.
By far the best video I have seen about this device. Well worth the wait. I like that you guys take your time and then publish a video full of interesting details, thoughts and observations. And so refreshing that it doesn’t have a clickbait title and thumbnail picture. It gets really annoying lately how sensationalist everyone seems to become here on UA-cam to get more views. Keep up the good work. And thank you again.
I can definitely get behind the lack of a clickbait title. So many videos that get recommended to me and up on my "watch later" list or ignored completely simply because I don't want to deal with their clickbait at the time.
Once I can actually walk around outside with my glasses and haptic gloves and throw pokeballs at Pokemon I'll leave my basement...
You guys have great chemistry and insight. Thank you for the in-depth, forward-looking tech journalism
"VR is an isolating experience."
Buddy, I can play Frisbee with my friend 800 miles away. VR has plenty of fun social experiences.
must be some frisbee
i've been dreaming of this for 15 years and it still seems so far away
GiroFuse the hardware and software are really difficult and it takes years to develop. And the industry is so new and under funded. Years from now will be amazing, this is a step.
your eyesight is bad, you need some good vr glasses :-)
You are right this is still v0.2, But we are getting closer and closer :-p, hope not to close since i have a small amount of claustrophobia
Hein Van Hoof This is AR, not VR.
We're about halfway there. Give it another 10-20 years and we'll have a full holographic reality overlaying ours. As to how good or bad that is, well let's hope Russian hackers don't own the internet by then.
You're using your binoculars from the wrong end!
I think Norman hits the nail on the head at 33:40. When AR brings the world's information to us, it will become a tool but when it will bring us humans closer, that's when it will become a real part of our lives.
Gave me goosebumps. Good job, Tested.
This kind of analysis what I needed! And thank you for showing the footage that is more accurate about the FOV !
Tested Always enjoy seeing the development of fellow engineer's work!! Keep bringing the latest innovation in tech!
@2:15 and @20:10 the first time someone captured the FOV appropriately!!!!❤️👍❤️👍❤️
that FOV looks magically disastrous
that is only via one lens - with two eyes looking through two lenses it is wider than you see in this video and wider than the holo lens by maybe 30% (subjective, i had no way to measure) - but it is not taller -which IMO is also just as important. And yes i have tried both hololens and magic leap. also resolution is slightly better than holo lens - but not two years better and 2.3bn better.... [edit apparenlty it is taller, can't say i noticed that]
A single lens should show the same size on video as you would get with 2 eyes. When I close one eye in the Rift (or the real world) objects to not change size.
Really appreciate you folks. Looking forward to hearing from you again on more awesome tech in the near future!
These two presenters respect each other's talking space, I like that. Very comprehensive
If I could send this video back in time 3 years, I wonder how it would change their funding.
ha they wouldnt make anything
Well, let me think: invest in a not-ready AR/VR solution, or invest in the Chris Orris video time machine. I choose the time machine!
this is just people selling hype and demo videos... so probably ramp it up to 10 billion. They would still produce a ridiculously overpriced product that for some reason uses IR instead of cheap LED's
@@eplanti when they could just buy LSD... That's is a joke
Excellent review, learned new things by watching this. Great terminology as well. Thanks so much.
Good quality in depth review -- thanks guys
Very in depth review. Subscribed
After working with a hololens I can say the small field of view is forgivable if the app is designed correctly. Still, as awesome as this is, it’s the FOV that will keep this from becoming popular.
I work with the hololens too and i have to say i really hate the small FOV. And i agree with you on the point that FOV is the biggest problem to make it a public success. In addition for some of the applications I develop the Hololens is a bit to weak and i need to work around a lot of smaller problems to make it run smooth and fast. Guess Nvidias new rtx 2080 tech could be good for hololens and other ar devices because its made for raycasting.
I need to spend 2300 to put a virtual sticker of a Unicorn vomitting a rainbow on the wall
Joseph Kroon the future is now
lol yeah i believe thanks to this aforementioned unicorn sticker we now qualify as a class 2 civilization
Mikey C well people say that the tracking is usable but not as great as the hololens.... so yeah that's somewhat of a problem.... but at least it's not for comsumers
I thought the same just to show my nieces who are Unicorn mad lol... except, I could never afford one, or the Hololens! xD
But just think of all the money you can save on not having to buy those unicorn posters.
What would be pretty sweet though is if it was good, not like this one, but will complete FOV, super high res solid objects and so on, then you'd never have to buy a new TV again, or any other junk for that matter. I could have a book that could become any book in the world, a shelf with decorations that changed, a clock that tells me the weather forecast, write notes to self on the wall, change the color of my couch and change the wallpaper with a flick of the hand, pretty much anything we can imagined that doesn't need to be physically touched. Would still need a coffee machine and a shower or whatever, but it would clear up our junk problem quickly if they could prefect this.
Awesome in-depth look guys👍
Thanks Guys, really good to see your thoughts on this! When I see you two review something, I think, yes, at last, a trusted opinion!
To save on scanning have profiles Dad living room1, Mom living room1, Son/Daughter room1, Brother room2. Each person has their own setups for different sizes with different locations.
I would be interested in thermal images of the puck, as it is in operation, or after some set time with heavy use.
Love you guys and this show. Such an inspiration for me as an aspiring tech host!
Another excellent review guys!
I love the "cannot be returned" right on the box. Talk about confidence in your product. Man what a let down.
Confident that everyone will return it within a week once they realize it's useless.
AR aint ready yet...but people should be happy to at least have great VR experiences for now in the meantime untill AR gets matured.
exactly
Exactly! It's a start, and as the saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day. In the meantime, keep building cool applications that are designed with AR compatibility in mind, and eventually, when it's ready, the transition will be simpler.
They missed the mark! Why not let me project a key board and controll my desk top tower with this!? I could be watching my computer go from anywhere in my house?
I used to work as a Software Engineer for Chewy.com and Magic Leap had an office in our building (Dania Beach, FL). They were very secretive and always tension/drama coming from that side of the building. Glad they finally released a product.
The most compelling demo I tried of AR was video chat. The technician was in another room, and in the AR device i saw a miniature 3d real time model of him that I could hold in my hand and get very close to. But we must consider the setup this required. A Kinect was set up to watch and transmit his figure to me, in addition to the AR headset. And of course Kinect can't see the back of a person, so to get the full "my friend is standing here next to me" feeling at least two sensor arrays are necessary (though 1 sensor may prove "good enough," but like VR tracker arrays I imagine "more is better"). This would preclude immersive chat on the go, i.e. when you go anywhere where your external camera array isn't set up. So, if social presence proves to be the Killer App, then we truly are a very long way from AR becoming mainstream. None of this is to say that I, as a big nerd, won't buy one well in advance of that day though!
"It's like the Sims but in my world..." Can you imaging having a Sim family in your own home?
This technology is still in it's infancy. And I'm excited to see it come in to fruition.
I can remember my first PC had a 100 Mhz processor, and there was a turbo button to overclock it to 133. Now CPU's have multiple cores all running at 3 and 4, and even 5 GHz.
Augmented Reality could quite possibly be the next massive leap in computing and gaming, and I can't wait to catch real Pokemon in my backward. (Or fight a dragon, or a zombie outbreak.)
true....give it about 10-15 years or so and youll see this tech winning over every other kind of media, even VR, and im totally into VR but also AR..its just not matured enough for consumers for now.
@@21EC Once this gets as compact as regular glasses and the fov increases 3x, everybody will own one. It will be the next smartphone. Like with everything technology, give it time.
str8todamoney+ I know, basically that's what I was saying in my comment above more or less.
My first PC was some kind of 286...
But those turbo buttons actually quite confused me - they never seemed to do anything. Turns out it's actually the opposite of what you'd think it does, but 'turbo' sounds better than 'slow down my system to a crawl'.
It exists because early PC software sometimes assumed that the CPU speed of a PC was fixed, and then would do really stupid things if your computer was too fast.
So... 'Turbo' if implemented correctly is a switch to go from whatever your processor was actually rated for, down the 4.77 mhz speed of the original IBM PC with it's 8088 processor...
This ensured that these very early programs would work as intended in spite of the newer CPU...
You can probably see why eventually this button stopped existing. XD
Yeah, this stuff is in a very primitive state - even VR, which is doing better than AR.
Did you know that in terms of pixel per inch equivalents, the current VR headsets are about equivalent to setting your desktop resolution to 640x480?
(And the Oculus DK1 was equivalent to 320x240)
Think about how far back you have to go to get PC's with resolutions that low and you can imagine how far we still have to go for this stuff...
And AR has a bunch of extra technical hurdles that VR doesn't - AR is VR with extra steps, and it seems we are still struggling to get those extra steps working correctly...
AR technology is NOT enough for real combat. If you try to trip a zombie in real life and do it wrong, you get countered and fall to the ground. AR can't do that. AR cannot force you to fall to the ground; it can't force your arm to stop mid-swing because a zombie blocked it with a shield. If you want real combat in video games you'll have to look beyond AR technology.
I do like how they separated the battery from the computing section since it has heat issues already, keeping the battery away from it a bit would help with cooling. Not entirely blown away by the overall product, but much like the oculus rift and other vr headsets when they first came out, you have to expect them to have these sorts of issues
i still haven’t been able to get into vr (expense and motivation aren’t quite equal yet), but this seems awesome. for the social app that was mentioned, it would be pretty cool to have one person with a vr headset be invited into your augmented space so ur both immersed in a similar experience rather than 2 separate locations
0:34 Better savour the moment, because that's $1147.50 per peel.
Feels like watching a home tv shopping advertising a very expensive something that you'll probably don't use or gets obsolete before the year ends.
Those glasses might replace your computer, TV and phone in the future, I don't think it's getting obsolete anytime soon.
Yes. But does it come with a set of BONUS STEAK KNIVES!!!
No they won't. A future version might, but those glasses will be painfully outdated in no-time, and certainly before AR comes anywhere near replacing anyone's computer, TV and phone.
This specific product is 95% not worth getting but future versions might be really cool.
It comes with BONUS VIRTUAL STEAK KNIVES!!! Use them to chop virtual food!
Super informative and thorough. I think it's important to remember, at the end, this IS an R&D product, as you all said. Sometimes the best way to move forward is to get your product in the wild. When this is full field of view, when the mapping is better, when when when, all those whens mean this is a stepping stone. You can't get from A to C without going through B.
Big up for wearing the Atari T-Shirt. My first game was Pong in 1976, then got the Atari 2600, Timex Sinclair TV computer and my older brother had the Atari 5200. After the 80's and quarter per game at the arcades I didn't get back into gaming until the XBOX. My first college degree field of study was digital electronics, electro-optics and laser technology.
"You got to start somewhere, or you're going nowhere"
Maybe not the "Killer App" for AR, but I look forward to real time "inventory" management. Where I don't have to wonder while I'm at the grocery store if I already have a bottle of tomato sauce at home. Automated statistics of what I'm using, predict when I'll need more. Augment my reality, and make the day to day chores of life easier.I'm looking forward to when AR glasses or contact lenses are bundled in with mobile phones
Nemisari I saw someone who developed a thing for AR where you can look at a video game case at the store and it'll bring up a little menu on top of the case showing off gameplay footage and details about the game, it looked like something that could eventually become a part of everyday shopping.
But.. you don't need AR for that. What you're talking about can be done more easily, more cheaply, and much faster with a phone app (because the interaction is easier). Like, maybe if you want a peek into your fridge, this would be cool (but again, phone). But because you can't MANIPULATE those things, it doesn't really help you that much more.
You would have to be actually managing 3D inventory for this to be useful. I can't even come up with a practical example of this. (I'm sure someone else can). Honestly, the REAL use case would be much more mundane - have your checklist pinned to the corner of your vision the whole time, checking things off as you got them XD. Stick it in an Amazon Go or Azure-enhanced supermarket, and you can have a full-service grocery experience from top to bottom.
@@Cyrribrae I'm think farther in the future where we're wearing an AR device at all times, so as I pick up and use my tomato sauce it recognizes it and removes it from the list of ingredients in my pantry. I don't want to have to remember to tick it off a list, or break out a scanner app on my phone. Always on AR would make it seamless and easy
Nemisari I completely agree! To "augment your reality" is to make your life easier. It needs to be something that doesn't take that extra time out of your day to "play with." Your grocery list idea and inventory management but also time and memory management. Placing tags on objects to remind you of something when you are near it. Finding those tools that you had in your hand just one second ago and set down in some random spot.
a very thorough review. thank you.
This is the first video review of Magic Lesp that actually got me somewhat interested and less sceptical about this piece of hardware (and AR in general). Well done Tested :) Personally I think un the near future AR will be tied to smartphones (ARcore etc) while headsets and headglasses will mostly stay VR and MR
I look through this comments section and I'm seeing so much cynicism and criticism. Like, guys, you do realize that all this was seen as impossible even as recent as 20 years ago. Most people (myself included) still don't even have VR, let alone AR. I'm just happy to know that this kind of shit exists and there are companies out there who are so invested in developing these technologies to the point where they will one day be commercially available. Yes, it's imperfect. Yes, it's incomplete. But this is still new territory that hardly anyone else is actually invested in. Stop complaining about what you don't have and start appreciating what you do have.
Its not what we do or don't have that people are complaining about. It's the lies they were told that has people angry. Have you looked at any of this companies promo stuff? They were showing off basketball sized movie quality imagery. Telling people they were playing games everyday in their offices that looked absolutely stunning, playing it off like that's what their backers would be getting for their money when in reality it was just a cgi clip made by a movie company. In the end they delivered something that is not as good as something microsoft gave us 3 years ago and at the cost of billions of backer dollars. It's fine to produce something mediocre but it's not fine to lie and say you have something special in order to scam literally billions of dollars.
Literally all companies do that. When people advertise construction, they use photoshop to make a rough estimate of what it's going to look like. When people advertise robotics, they use CGI to make a demonstration of the perfect product. It's not lying, it's a statement of what they want to give. But we don't always get what we want. This is one hell of a complicated product and it's not fully fleshed out yet. You can't expect them to immediately have the perfect product. Full body tracking still isn't perfected and, more often than not, bugs out and doesn't work. It doesn't mean those companies aren't delivering on their promise, it just means they're not there yet. It's not like they're not sitting on their hands and doing nothing, they are still trying to make it better and deliver what they set out to produce. People just need to be patient.
Oculus Rift dev kit was $300 and the final hardware retailed for $600 at launch. This thing is $3200 for the dev kit... how much is this going to cost at retail!? $40 dollar shoulder strap... lol.
This is so intressting to watch! love it!
Great video guys!
The promo with the giant whale tho… That FOV wouldn't even fit the whale's left flipper.
They made it out like their display tech was something magical and far superior to any potential competitor. But Microsoft has been selling the same wave-guide displays for years now in the HoloLens. And HoloLens 2 is rumoured to have a much improved FOV and may feature variable localised opacity shielding to make holograms appear solid and allow the headset to double as a full immersion vr headset.
Yep. They made it seem like it some sort of projection directly into the eye. I have a feeling Magic Leap is just a scam to dupe investors out of a few billion.
They seemingly spent the last 2 years trying to reverse engineer the hololens in order to have something to show for their understandably impatient investors.
I Hope they don't hog up all the good licenses for live sports and stuff. They have exclusive contracts already.
Oh, you mean, this:

It was called Altered
@@truckbull6076 magic leap website listed over 2000 bucks per unit. I am not sure if it worth that much.
Now *that's* AR. And its HiRes full field of view and lasts longer than 30 mins.
Great! I love the concept of AR though, We're one step closer to getting that Ironman Suit
Great review. Realise its a bit old now but still, we are just starting to look at AR glasses for use with our game so its a useful review. Thanks!
Wasn't this the one that released a video a few years ago that talked about beaming the image directly into your eyes, not on a screen in the lenses?
Skip6235 Nah you're thinking of Avegant Glyph I think, it already does that
I mean, this technically does that too. So does HoloLens. That's what the "wave guide" tech that they're all using does. It refracts the light into your eyes in a way that mimics how real light might bounce off of a real object.
You are 100% correct. I watched that video also about 4 years ago. I've been following this along with AR/VR for years. They hyped this thing through interviews that made it seem like this thing was going to change the world! I started to doubt them when they wouldn't actually show anything. I feel so sorry for all the investors that they scammed into invest over a BILLION dollars!!! Not millions but Billions!!! They should be sued for lies if you ask me.
I wouldn't feel sorry for them, funds and individual investors that are involved with this type of company have more money than they know what to do with. Having 8 figures disappear barely registers.
Just be glad a few people got a decent pay check for a couple years while blowing dumb money.
*me and many others dont like :*
* it having a narrow FOV
* its ghost like style of visuals
* its issues of understanding and mapping its environment
* its glasses's dark tint color
* its expensive price on top of that
BUT if they can seriously improve upon all of the above then we will consider buying it
I'm not a fan of the FOV either. Hololens had the same problem. And I'd like to see a larger RAM option in the consumer model for people who want to map more complex environments. But as for the ghost-like issue and the glasses' tinting...that's 100% NEVER going to change. Those are inherent to AR and effectively unfixable. If you want it less ghost-like, the glasses need to be tinted *more*, and if you want less tinted glasses then you get images that are even more ghost-like. So it's basically at an equilibrium now that likely cannot be improved.
The only alternative is to increase the strength of the light projection, which is going to kill your eyes if you want it strong enough to make the images opaque.
I really hope so but even if they decrease its price to half of it then it would still be kinda expensive for most consumers, with its current flaws and limitations it should cost no more than about 280-350$ or so IMO.
Why are you pretending that you speak for more than just yourself?
z beeblebrox+ well if so then im afraid this tech is doomed in a way...dark tint + ghost look issues wise unless people would learn to accept it and live with it.
21EC But this is something any mixed reality device has already solved. Just show the real world camera view on the same screen as your ar objects. This looks to me like a high tech solution to just get over the "i'm wearing a big face covering helmet" problem of vr and mr. Maybe, if they added an active lcd layer that could opaque parts of the lens where the AR solid objects were supposed to be it could solve the ghosty parts.
Best explanation and review I have seen
Great review! thank you :)
In the future we might have basically empty living spaces and need to wear glasses to see our decorations, tv, and other stuff. :o
You are describing Total Recall 2012...
A future ruled by EA, and your life revolves around DLC, while you live in an empty cube.
Husband/wife.
There's something to be said for the smell of freshly wet soil while coffee brews in another room.
@@suicidalbanananana In the future
where do you guys get your shirts from? :)
I did NOT expect that to be a totally tracked controller and for this to have eye-tracking. If they get a bigger field of view on these things then I'll be more excited. It looks like awesome tech nonetheless and it feels like excellent AR is right around the corner
I've been waiting on this review since 3 years ago when I saw the original development on magic leap
"Cannot be returned" "Cannot be returned" "Cannot be returned"
Yep. Makes sense.
Perfect....maybe not. Remember the flip phone? You have to start somewhere....
Can we extract 3d data from the headset scans?
I have to imagine there's much better ways to get room/object scans than this thing.
Nope 🤷🏽♂️
why, it essentially the same technology use thousands of other applications, this technology is use to map the earth.
There is an app called dottymesh in the MAgic Leap World you can use to scan your room and extract it. It gives you 15 min to do so and erases it from the database
Hey dude on the right (stage left), well done! :)
Great breakdown of what the experience is like if you were to wear one of these. Huge limitations, which remind me a bit of the point The Stanley Parable made so well!
That intro was fantastic
If it worked with a phone... maybe allow a faux paintball style game in the real world with other players
2300 that's crazy
GAproductions Microsoft’s is 3K
Great review! One thing though: to my knowledge hardly any of the current VR HMDs are focused at infinity. It's hard to get specific numbers, but the Vive for example seems to be focused at an optical distance of about 1.3 meters, which is more in a sweet spot of the range of accomodation. Focusing completely at the far end hurts near vicinity interaction.
such a great review!’
I think AR will be as important as smartphones are right now, because it will replace them. See instant information of the objects and places that surround us, indications to go to any place placed in the real world, playing Real Pokemon or sharing contents with other people easier is the real future.
If it catches on mainstream maybe. But at $2300 for something with no software. It's a piece of shit.
Thats correct, people will comment on this video in a decade and apple is working on AR glasses so that will probably make it mainstream
That lense peel tho
ohhhhhhh yeahhhhh
I am surprised how crude the graphics look on this system.
I just think of the Space Boy AR when I look at this, and that is amazing.
Fantastic presentation. Really much better than anything else about ML. Are you guys telepathic ?
In other words, it's not noticeably better than the HoloLens... I'm kinda disappointed
Yeah disappointing. Patents described a more capable device. Like they touched on regarding focal planes only being 2 rather than the 12 the patents described. Also, it seems to completely lack the masking capability that would have solved the ghostly holograms. Sigh, looks like another 5-10 years.
suicidal.banana wow, I guess you invested in Magic leap or hololens, that must be why you're having this bizarre reaction. It's a devkit, and it's not intended for you. Competition is good, mkay.
Fuck one of the two companies trying to make AR happening? How about fuck you and your suicidal stance on Augmented Reality.
@@suicidalbanananana I've probably seen more videos about both of them than you and I can say everyone has said this is better.
Precisely..........
I don't buy the concept of AR until it can be use on the street. I think it's "cheap" to only be able to use it at home, that is not "reality" that is just your home.
Satan Gunner it is still in development and will get better eventually
Good informative review
It looks brilliant, a couple of things that can make it stand out more is the music world in the glasses could have the music videoto the song that you watch and you could walk through the clip so it feels that you are with the singer as the video plays, also how you were on about black holes, well you can have a hole gate where you drop anything in one hole and it comes out of the other hole even if you have the holes in different places, rooms, states even countries, but the only draw back (to make sure people don't drop things they shouldn't) is that the person who drops something is the only person who sees it coming out of the other hole.
IT'S TIME TO DDDDDDDDDDUELLLLLLL
The small viewport kills anything that this device might be able to do. Lets wait another 6 years :)
It's nice to see some competition in this space. I'd see AR being much more of a mainstream thing in the future rarther than VR. And I know these two technologies compete in different spaces, but regardless.
AR has so much potential once the technology matures. I could easily see it replacing smartphones and eventually even desktop computers, especially once we have the technology for cloud processing, then the most powerful hardware would be available to anybody inside tiny AR glasses.
Just imagine being able to create multiple virtual screens around your workspace to suit the needs of your specific work. This would also be awesome for casual usage, all your browser tabs could live in different virtual screens. Or how about decorating your walls with amazing and huge works of art? The possibilities are endless.
6DoF handset with polhemous style tracking! I like that, reminds me of my grad school days.
One question, can it map in the dark?
ljfoster32 yes because it emits its own ir light
It would be pretty neat if they didn't price it out of reach for the normal person. VR was barely affordable at launch to the normal Joe. Pricing like this greatly reduces the install rate. Don't they want as many people as possible to purchase one of these? Or are they just trying to recover as much money as fast as possible before it flops?
No. It's a dev kit. It's not meant for end-users. The purpose is for developers to be able to get accustomed to the technology and start building new experiences. Consider they are hand delivering the units and setting them up themselves. Not exactly sustainable on a large scale.
This not for normal people. This is for developers to experiment with. Look for a consumer version of this device in 2 or 3 years I suspect.
pretty awesome tech
great video!
Augmented reality makes so much more sense than VR long term IMO.
Long term I think they're going to be the same thing... But for now both VR and AR are taking their first baby steps.
Indeed
The future is going to be so cool
Disagree. Apples and oranges. AR is for making you real life cooler or more productive. VR is for teleporting to different existing/non-existing places, doing what's impossible in real life and becoming whoever you want. VR is far more powerful, but AR might be much more useful in everyday life. If you think that VR seems to be for niche and geeks - let's not forget that books, radio and TV became huge because they allowed escapism for billions of people.
AR will get more "opaque", and VR more "transparant". Vive's chaperone for example could be considered reality bleeding through into VR.
Eventually, all borders will disappear and there will just be headsets which can render both AR objects and complete VR worlds.
I’ve got a juice bag squeezing machine to sell you...
The future is gonna be amazing.
Best review of this hardware by a mile
Amazing product but when he says we're still a decade away from what he calls the AR we want, and describes what that is, a decade may be an underestimate. Remind me to check back on this comment in 2029.
I'll be dead and buried (Hopefully buried) before 2029 rolls along.
I believe 2029 would be a golden year for AR and VR headsets. Hope for the best.
404 Mon really sorry you might miss it by this estimative
I do hope something more viable consumer wise comes out by 2025
What do you think I'm immortal. 2025... I'll be long gone by then.
@@LanDiEvil I obviously do not. My expectations for viable AR technology have nothing to do with me being sad about you (and a crapton of people) dying before it's commonly available. I *do* hope you still can enjoy other stuff while you are still around.
Magic leap is a fail. I heard of these guys years ago and there was absolutely no need to be secretive with this piece.
Luke Smith Well it seems to have paid off, since this is the best FoV in the business, and the only one with eye tracking and multiple focus planes. Really the only one such device on the VR and AR market you can put on your head and use it for hours without fatigue.
It will get better with time
Michelle Jewell I truly believe that! It’s about the long game. I’m sure they will come out on top
Finally!❤️
Super Cool!!
i feel foolish for the excitement I had for this company for YEARS now. so disappointing...
Steve Moore You'd be VERY surprised inside the lab where this was built. Just listening to and watching other people from different backgrounds come together and create!
Thats great, but I'm a prosumer. I'm still quite sore at the results so far.
Maybe I have a limited imagination but I struggle to see the practical applications of this, or at least any that come remotely close to making me want want to own one.
Also, I still can't help but think back to all those fake promotional videos they released. What an overhyped, overpriced piece of tech.
One use could be to over lay schematics for mechanics on what they're looking at.
You can look like a douche nozzle for $2300! How practical is that!?
As a consumer I don't really see this a practical right now. But for now or near future people like doctors or engineers could use it for their practices.
Yeah consumer level maybe not, but as an aircraft mechanic having something like this would be amazing.
One use off the top of my head is site planning, i can see a underground utility company walking in a field with the utility plan in a virtual space merged with real, buildings shown virtually, ect
For average joe, very little to no use...basically google glass level of useless.
The future is gonna be awesome!
i especially loved when it showed me the projected dots and lines covering all the objects infront of me while i was wearing
Viewing area is tiny. I'll pass.
5Bn wasted by Google
I see a more industrial use for this hardware already. I'm sure with some software tweaking, we could theoretically use it as a 3d scanner for large objects like automobiles or large machinery. I would love to see this allow a pass through data stream into a computer that can process more data on the fly and not be limited by ram size in terms of resolution. Maybe something along the lines of thunderbolt or a usb 3.1 + display port
Also, good thorough review
Pokemon go 2
The polls
this will be used for porn 100%
lol at least your honest
The problem is Google bans the porn.
Naj Kraemer doesn't that make it worth 2300?
That wasn't even on my mind. However, I feel like AR will be automatically incorporated into every aspect of our lives. I am still waiting for a.i. holograms on cell phones.
This gave me a good idea of the AR capabilities when this video was made.
Just the beginning.. It will get awesome
In the next 500 years.
