I watch this over & over, makes me feel so nostalgic . All this guys have been a part of my life in 1 way or another. The humor when they are together , makes ya wanna be a fly on the wall, where ever they are....well, ... were. I miss all of you guys...rest in piece. Bobby , i hope you get thru the battle your going thru. We'd hate to lose you too.

Say what you will of the outrageous raw talents of Bare, Tillis, Jennings and Reed but it would take nearly a life time to come close to explaining the genius mind blowing "song writing" talents of Shell Silverstein. Right on Phil Giesbrecht! Thank God we still have living legend Bobby Bare. Last I heard anyways? Oh and many thanks to Bill Gibbs for posting this treasure!

What they call country music today is not country music at all its pop music if it's anything. The only way you can listen to true country music if you want to is to listen to the music the old dogs played and still play. I'm only 38 and I'm thankful that my parents showed me that there is more to life then what's happening at this moment. You can learn more about how life should be by learning about previous generations then you could ever learn from today's culture. THANK YOU BILL FOR POSTING THESE VIDEOS. Preach it brother... The only way I hear True Country music is by way of CD's, cassettes and records. This is coming from a 20 year old who proudly grew up on George Strait, Alan Jackson, Jones, Wynette, Haggard and many other greats that I haven't named.
I just got through listening to all 5 of the videos. I'd heard the album, but never saw this promotional video of the album. I loved it, and sure thank you for uploading it. I love all these guys... always have, always will... but it sure strikes you why they are some of the best of the best... Every one of them still had "IT" in the videos... If anything, "TIME" had only worked in their favor, like an aged whiskey, or a vintage wine... Simply awesome!

Thank you for posting these. Waylon is my favorite voice and personality, but he didn't hog the limelight, as did Jimmy Dean. Mel, Bobby, and Jerry are such excellent musicians/singers...neat to hear all four of them all together. Such a loss RIP Waylon, Jerry.
I am afraid no one can fill their shoes. They will try, some will be good, others not so much, but the fact remains, these folks and many more like them are one of a kind.
Nothing stays the same forever, I know that but for me, today's country music has lost the country flavor. I still listen to the older singers singing the classics. Thanks for your comment and watching my video post, Steve.

Jerry with Old Man , Trying to do a young man's job and Elvis Has Left the building... for all of them Nashville is rough on the Living - it rings so true. Old Dogs is a Classic - as are the Highwaymen's various CDs. Somewhere among the Highwaymen's songs I discovered, to my great delight, that Willy Nelson has a surprisingly mellow natural baritone voice. Now, I appreciate Willy's talent, his songwriting ........ it's just his whiny falsetto (yes, I know it is his trademark) that find irritating .. All the same - Country Legends ARE Country Legends. Great to be able to see them ... 'au naturel' - just chatting, jamming and having fun together.

Why is he even at the table? LOL
Well, look at this way. Jimmy Dean was approached by the network to help put the show together. It was primarily to promote the Old Dogs Album. Every show needs an emcee to keep the show going in the right direction. Jimmy was one of those singers. He was a recording artist also just like them.
