Thanks fam, it takes a lil practice but if you use an identification method for later reference (such as marking dye or bands) you can eventually gaurantee 99.9% accuracy everytime.

Great video. Best I've seen so far. Why do the chicks need to be 3 days old or younger?
Thank you, after 3 days the organs have grown and are tucked far enough away that they can no longer be seen, which makes most folks squeeze too hard trying to find them and usually injure the chick instead. Its pretty much useless to try after 4 days

Are you talking about the shape of the egg sexing? Big Myth. Incubator temp sexing is real, but most folks think the sex changes in the egg; however, certain temps only allow males to hatch, and another temp allows only females to hatch.

Bantams are so tiny at the age required (3 Days), that the vent is just too small to be stretched without doing any damage to the chick. Its almost impossible to achieve without injuries.

I've done the leg banding with zip ties before. It worked until I lost track of time and it girdled the leg. Never again. A toe web punch works better. By the time that hole heals and closes (sometimes the hole stays) you will know the cockerels anyways.

Food for thought thank you. Yea you definitely have to stay on top of them with the ties to monitor growth, and the tightness. But we usually put them on at a bigger start so they can grow into them. We change out once from baby to juvenile, and we adjust the distance based off juvenile. But we will definitely be looking into the toe punch.

As the chick gets a few days old, the reproductive parts are further up and almost impossible to expose. Trying so will almost always injure the chick.

This time, going old breeds; Bramha X Jersey Giant. NOBODY can sex silkies. One of ours was examined by two experts. Girl. Six months later....crowing. We're getting a hefty gal. Small foxes and hawks in the area.
