I really had fun with the flight controls in Superman returns but I didn’t finish it because I was really confused of how the game worked. I didn’t know how to progress in the main story. Lol 😆

I just wanna see a Superman game, where he can actually go into space. Totally breech earths boundaries and see the sun and moon and stars. Maybe even use that base to add eventual DLC missions, or maybe a planet select menu. Give the game a little extra something.
Closest thing to that is megaton rainfall. It’s not actually Superman but it’s pretty damn close and a good baseline. Check it out if you haven’t heard of it
Are you sure about that bro? Buildings in Ps4 Spiderman, Amazing Spiderman, Infamous series, Prototype series, Assassin's Creed series, Batman... All buildings look large and gigantic
@@mavvynne444 Looking over a building actually makes my stomach shake because of how long the drop looks, I've never experienced that in a game before.
This could be a great video game. If you add x-ray vision similar to detective mode from Batman Arkham, super strength, combat, heat-vision, freeze breath. The player could only be loose health from kryptonite, magic or super powered beings. Braniac, Metallo, Zod, Bizarro, Doomsday, Lobo, Darkseid or Lex Luthor in Power armor would be perfect boss battles.
And some nice Easter eggs too like in the arkham games with posters-building saying things like “star labs” or “venture to Atlantis” just nice nods here n there.
Doesn’t man of steel have a scene like this. In the first flight scene superman flies and then does the vertical flight towards space and looks down towards earth and blasts off. Pretty dope scene all around
I am more impressed by the scale of the buildings, It is so REAL and I have never seen in any game something so close to the feel of reality, how they towering up in the sky and loom over the character. Damn.
In spider man/Miles in ps4/ps5 swinging never gets boring somehow. Its so fine tuned to perfection. But yeah flying would get boring if its a small area relative to his speed
@@UA-camr-lv6eh That's because the web swinging has a lot of mechanics and feels like you're genuinely putting effort in to every swing, it's super satisfying. Flying on the other hand is basically tilt and go and is for sure a lot harder to make engaging, considering it often comes off as feeling automatic.
I don’t care who has to come together, and what kind of treaties need to be in place, but can we please join together and get a REALLY good OPEN world Superman game in place?
The potential for movement is amazing. Imagine if they added the choice for free fall, launching yourself over a building into free fall, flashy dodging through traffic. Fluidity in his flying would be greatly increased by giving more options than just "going forward fast"
Imagine if they made the flight controls really fluid and engaging, like Spiderman swinging or Ghost of Tsushima riding. Imagine if you could play it like Red Dead 2 and become good or evil?
It would look cool, but as gameplay it would inevitably mean quickly getting bored. He is the kind of character who is simply too powerful for a video game. It would be better if it were about some other character who could have at least some limitations.
They could try doing like a city health bar or a morality system. If there's too much destruction/ people get hurt, you fail. Or you could fight aliens as strong if not stronger than Superman. Or you could play a young inexperienced Superman.
@@nathanielking5288 that's exactly what the Superman returns game did and it was terrible because it felt like one big escort mission and the escort was an entire city
@@nathanielking5288a morality system would be nice if implemented right, also protecting a city/ point of interest could work well depending on what your defending against at least, but it would also be nice if the game could have another planet as its setting
Don't set it on Metropolis. Set the game on another hostile planet like Apokolips, Qward, or something. Send him to Trigon's dimension. Or set it on Metropolis as it is being invaded by Brainiac or the Black Lanterns or the white Martians. Or the villain somehow transforms our yellow sun to a red one. There are ways to make Superman work.
I assure you all the developers are aware of it. There no great difficulty in creating a realistic sandbox open world where Superman could fly aerodynamically how he does in cartoons and films. The main problem is in his powers and story. If it actually were to be an open world game the options for missions would be very limited due to the Superman’s invincibility and his weaknesses only being kryptonite and hostages.
You cant see any superman game, because it is licensed to DC company and they will never allow anyone to produce a game unless you pay them 3 million dollar license fee or something like that, at the end you cant earn that money from a game.
Imagine a game like this, and you get to choose whether you want to be a good Superman or a bad one like in Injustice, and you get missions based on what your actions are. Regardless, a game like this could be so fun!
But that would mean that the game is a trope and a cliche. There are too many games where you are given these "good and bad" choices. If he is to remain "superman" these choices won't really affect the player experience significantly.
Honestly, for people who are saying fighting enemies, for example, thugs and terrorists yes it'll be easy to take them down bc that's who superman is, if they wanna make the game challenging for the player saving civilians out of buildings and planes should be way more difficult. Bosses like doomsday, Metallo, Zod, and Brainiac would also definitely work
It is weird that people just fail to acknowledge his rogues gallery when they say he’s OP. Power draining villains like Parasite and the aforementioned Metallo would be great in a game as it would require the player to be more creative and not resort to just a straight up brawl
Maybe they never read The Return of the Dark Knight, even a human such as Batman could kick Superman's ass. If they tried to make a Superman game challenging, they absolutely could.
Maybe they should make it where the criminals and thugs gained kryptonite weapons with kryptonite bullets and swords, so that they could actually damage superman
@@Ghost-en8nw Aliens, robots, monsters, demons, gods, advanced tech, psionics, magic, metahuman powers. There are tons of options other than just Kryptonite.
Rocksteady had one in early development at one point but WB shut it down for some reason. Maybe when they're done with Suicide Squad they can get back to it.
I mean I think Anthem really nailed the "superman flight" system. I know it is more of an Iron Man thing in Anthem but if those mechanics were just plopped into a superman game I think it would work great.
@@fishanhunter Yeah. Wish the game was so much more. That flight system is where's it's at. One of the most fun gaming mechanics I've experienced even though it's just flying
The way to emulate the experience of being superman would have to have a completely destructible world. Supes is so strong that we should be able to break anything that won't break the game lol. combined with this flight mechanic would be dope!
@@sambell4370 Im sure one day you'll able to have fully destructible cities like this in games with full interiors and that, but we'll all be old or dead lol

This actually makes me think of a universal game map, where multiple games are built around it on purpose. Like flesh out the city, and let the game makers focus on their game within it.
When did you think of this? I've had this same idea for some time, in which an open world is the general setting into which developers can insert gameplay, characters, stories.... can create games. It seems a shame that many immersive open worlds now end up "dying young", when the potentiality of a world could have been utilized for other projects.
Before I tried the demo on ps5 i was hoping you'd be able to fly like neo around the city and was super disappointed you couldn't ( as far as I know.. you can only walk around, drive cars and move the camera around in first person) ..bit this looks pretty cool at not only letting you fly like neo but doing so as "Superman"
The cool thing about this is that while it does show how specifically a Superman game could handle flying, it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be Superman. It could work just as well for any number of other existing heroes/villains that can fly such as Iron Man, or even an entirely new character. Superman in particular just happens to be interesting because we've never really gotten a good game starring him.
that's because you can not make an interesting game with an unkillable main character. just giving any enemy those green crystals would feel like a cheap way to make him vulnerable too.
I'd love to play a good modern Superman game but I'll definitely take a non-Superman game where you can fly around a huge open world or whatever. Maybe the hero can have telekentic powers.
The thing with a Superman game is, people want to play it like they're the Hulk or something. But Superman shouldn't be a brute, and the game shouldn't reward that, it should be creatively using your powers to save people, and protect environments, causing minimal damage and saving many people using your powers in imaginitive ways. That's why the Arkham games were amazing, because it made you 'feel' like Batman and because he is just human, beating hordes of humans to a pulp feels appropriate. Along with doing detective work.
The objectives in a Superman game should be thought of from the perspective of Lex Luthor, like forcing you to choose between saving his mom or his lover. Superman does have vulnerabilities that creates challenges for him, but they aren't physical challenges. Like adjusting his hearing or pulling his punches (like Marvel's Spiderman), it's really all mental.
I’m sorry what? Who said anything about superman being a brute? He can still be immensely powerful and near unkillable whilst also using his powers for good
Well this video right here just completely destroys EVERY single video saying: “why a Superman game is impossible”. Lol 😆. I really hope a Superman game is made soon. After all these years waiting, all Superman fans deserve one. 😎👍🏼
@AllTheJedi I saw an article over a decade ago that mentioned that it could involve superman starting at his golden era powers(just super strength leaping, high and invulnerable) then it builds up to him having flight and his extra powers. Maybe we can throw in the Prototype jumping & combat. And as for flight combat maybe we could copy the Iron Man combat style from the avengers video game(I know not the best game but Iron Man’s combat really flows). As for what could harm superman, i’m pretty sure there are a lot of creative minds out there that can make it work. However I do have one idea. Inter-gang machines. Kind of like “shadow of the apocalypse” but a little more advanced. Plus we could have brainiacs machines to fight us. It can be a huge variety. Or we could fight Zods Kryptonian army. There are a lot of good ideas.
I think Superman Returns on the Xbox 360 had some of the best flight where you could break multiple sound barriers...the game wasn't great, but flying in that game was awesome.
@Rocky Montana Garcia mayne Agreed. The devs are always in two camps. I remember when that last Diabloesqe Marvel game was coming out. At a DragonCon session they seemed adamant that Marvel characters were all anyone would want to play. Even to this day clones of familiar heroes are the exception in City of Heroes rather than the rule
I don’t know how well Superman would translate to video games, he’s supposed to be absolutely unstoppable, like a god walking among humans. It would be difficult to capture this in a game while still making it enjoyable.
Make a SuperBoy game. He's more interesting and he has a cool leather jacket. Oh also, for a Superman game you just give him alien or robot enemies who have kryptonite weapons of some kind. Making him a younger Superman, you can strip out some powers and let you (superman) discover his "new" abilities.
When we do eventually get a Super-Man game, I would love for there to be a flight mechanic that allows the player to easily fly at the pace they want instead of a designated flight speed with a basic "sprint" and "stop" function. For example, it could work like a racing game, where the more you hold down the right trigger, the faster you go and vice versa. Or maybe it could work like the horse-riding in RDR2, where you press and hold a button to fly at a certain pace, but each time you press and hold, the faster you go. I just want to be able to fly straight up at the speed of sound and then decelerate until I enter a state of free-fall. Also, the map would have to be unbelievably huge because of how fast Super-Man can fly. I feel like because of this, empty space on the map would be excusable unlike most games, since they could act as "Highways" essentially for the player to just go as fast as they want in a straight line, and because Superman is so fast, the player wouldn't get bored navigating it. You could have a series of large cities spread out along the map for most of the quests and story to take place. It would also make sense to have the game set in a relatively mountainous region. That way, the player has optional obstacles in the form of mountains and canyons to make gameplay more engaging.
Dude you are literaly a genius, i was thinking a lot on how to make a proper flying system for my videogame and i never think in making it like it was a car, it's just perfect And also can have like a turbo mode where you can go beyond sonic speed!! Thanks, you help a lot!!
I guess it would act like the throttle on a car, but with very instantaneous response and a high rate of acceleration and speed at full. But with control lower down.
This demo really is incredible. The flight, the city, the people below, the detailing, the jet streams... a visual stunner. Props to the guy that showed in this demo clearly how smart innovation and optimization can be done to make a product more pleasing. This literally makes me want to buy a console if they'd put out a great Superman game that could fly like this, have this virtually picture-perfect image and be this interactive with its surroundings. DC & WB really needs to step their game up, respect the legacy of the properties they own and take the time to make their films, products and franchises thrive as best as possible. These characters are legendary and they need to take time to find the right people to make these products a success.
I ran this at 1080p on my RTX 2070 (3 year old card) and I was getting 30FPS at max flight speed near the ground. Broke into the 50s high up. Way better than I was expecting considering the visuals (the most realistic city setting I've ever seen).
They should make a smallville game so you can progress Clark’s abilities in cannon. Have it very linear for a minority of the story and have it open up to metropolis in the end game.
A Superman game where he isn't Earth bound would be amazing too. Imagine flying in space and going to different planets. Walk on Mercury, visit the Sun. Man that would be awesome.
A bit too ambitious though. Something like that might be doable with tech available maybe 10 years from now. When AI can be better used to create maps in games because building a map with whole planets is a lot of work to do manually. Also it will need a lot of storage space for a game that size
By the time unreal engine 7-8 comes out, which is going to be many years from now but I feel like once it does come out, games will look nearly indistinguishable from real life, I'm excited for the future of gaming.
I'm expecting unreal engine 6 to be photo realistic considering the performance increases of hardware by then plus using AI to increase efficiency to its absolute maximum
Probably will be. Even now games look very realistic. Take WWE 2K22 for instance. Very similar to live WWE. Sometime I mistakenly thought that real WWE footage was from the game.
This is one of the first steps in hyper realistic, photographic game graphics. I'm sure by the end of 20s, everyone would afford such good graphics with good performance.
Oh for sure, with the power we can get today for 400-500 bucks when it comes to consoles and even the steam deck, a decade will probably have the majority of gamers running 4k60 pretty easily and cheap
@@GlorifiedGremlin4k60fps for modern games, not for future games, only PS4 games run on 4k60fps on the PS5, by the end of the generation, games will be 900p60fps or 1080p30fps
I hope if a company does make a superman game or a game like it that we actually get to control how fast we can move maybe something like subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic. In the old superman returns game you can only move at like 800 mph so its really not that fast.
Imagine; you could just fly through buildings, destroying them and they collapse like normal buildings, and all the big buildings have detailed rooms in them and people. Imagine being able to crash land into a skyscraper and you're in a rubble-filled room with dead people and other people panicking. Maybe we aren't there for this sort of technology as it would require SO many moving parts but I think we'll get it one day. Tech in gaming seems to stay pretty stagnant for 5-10 years and then suddenly spike over the period of a couple of years. Next gen definitely didn't hit that spike but UE5 is the start of another one. I honestly wonder what games will look like in 1000 years (if humans still exist.) I don't think fully immersive games will exist by then (like sword art online) & I doubt that would ever be achievable but look at how far we have come since pong which was released less than 100 years ago. Just imagine what would be possible in 1,000. Relatively speaking, gaming is still in its infancy and very new when you look at the whole scope. It wasn't a big industry and remained niche until the 2000s and that was only 20 years ago. Just mind blowing to think about. Our great, great, great, great grandchildren will be spoiled beyond belief with what they'll get. I sorta wish I was born in the 2100's😂
I honestly think living in that era would completely suck to say the least should that ever come to fruition that is. Zero privacy alone sound to me like a complete nightmare let alone having all sorts of advanced entertainment outlets but knowing full well the fact your being watched 24/7 will ruin the whole point of such exercise imho amongst many more serious down falls when it comes to that subject. Internet policing at that point will just be hounding societies for a quick cash grab and make the whole point moot.
I wouldn’t write fully immersive VR off. The speed that technology is improving along with the rapidly increasing interest in the sector (due to factors such as the meta verse, tv shows, concepts) gives me a lot of hope. I don’t expect it in my lifetime but I wouldn’t say 1000 years, maybe my grandkids will have access to it?
I was thinking maybe there could be this system implemented to automatically make you swerve, or sharply turn around buildings. Kinda like in Man of Steel, when Superman was chasing Zod around the city. Though, it'll be difficult to not get disoriented with all the sudden turns lol
A lit of figuring out to do but this is where it’s going and it’s incredible. Love the feel in the sky it’s very immersive. Brilliant work to whoever put this together.
Man, seeing a city of this scale is actually blowing my mind. Imagine the possibilities! I was pretty amazed by the size of Night city from Cyberpunk but this just absolutely puts it to shame. I wish Bethesda would make a fallout game with this engine, this city would look pretty cool all blown to hell and littered with jury-rigged towns.
I think Bethesda is still using their Creation Engine for all of their upcoming games. It seems so counter-intuitive to stick with an engine for this long, even though they know how outdated it is and how much their community dislikes it. I get that it's just corporate bullshit that they don't want to deal with, but they are shooting themselves in the foot over and over again at this point.
"A guy made a better superman game than large teams of people in the past." He's Superman! I'm superman too, because I figured out things, large teams of scientists couldn't. It's always that one guy.
The biggest problem with Superman games is that he's literally invulnerable which makes challenges in gameplay boring in combat because he can't get hurt. I would love to see a game that pushes that boundry through solar energy stamina. Give us a game that really forces us to strategize around Supes' powers and not just with that standard kryptonite but also incorporate red starlight to drain him. I would also love to just have fun with his brute strength and be able to destroy the environment around me in a realistic manner.
I used to have a decent superman game,i don't remember the platform, since superman is invulnerable, what they did is give the city an energy bar to force you to protect the city. That was smart
You do realize Superman has villains right? There are games where characters are stronger than Superman. Devil may cry, doom, god of war? But no Superman is always invulnerable, and no one ever pays attention to him. Superman has cool villains too, and with him we can probably explore more than just earth.
I think Superman Returns on the Xbox 360 had some of the best flight where you could break multiple sound barriers...the game wasn't great, but flying in that game was awesome.
This mod reminds me of when I first played the video game Superman Returns on PlayStation 2. Granted, the graphics are dated now, but back then I hadn’t seen anything like that. To this day I still occasionally have dreams of myself flying around a city just like in that game. I would LOVE to play this some day!!!
Yo imagine a Superman game but with No Mans Sky built-in to where you just slowly start to bring peace to the Universe. Supersky... No Soup Sky.. I'm onto something. Seriously this engine is outrageously beautiful.
You have to love a driver hitting superman with a vehicle 3 times... I'd love a superman game, however I think it would be best with time spent as clark doing an investigation, then fighting the enemy. Basically how lois and clark handled their episodes.
In terms of developers not being able to get flying right, I'm sure Bioware (as long as EA doesn't have a hand in it) could make a proper superman. The flying in Anthem was pretty legitimate. A couple of tweaks in aethetic from bio suit to person, and they could do a good job. Just please, for the love of everything, keep EA away from it.
4:16 Passion tends to exceed experience/qualification, especially in art, and programming is pretty much an art. You can accomplish the same task with an entirely different workflow and end up with a completely different feeling product. I'd imagine this is why there is such a disconnect in modern games being passionate pieces of art, Valve's games are a good example, all of it feels like it was made by passionate devs, the writing, the modelling and texturing of the geometry, the programming, the concepts. A modder with a passion for superman can often outdo what a programmer that has no motivation other than that they have been contracted to create a superman game, because the passionate one goes the extra mile.
This looks absolutely stunning mind blowing how far games visuals have come in such a short period of time. Can you imagine call of duty or elden rings on this engine!!! Wow
I personally wish for a Flash game, as I believe there are many intricacies with the character and his abilities that would fit well for games, but he may be too powerful for his game, hence why they always put him with other characters. Best thing to do for a solo project is to have his origin story where he's not insanely overpowered yet but learns and grows
I chuckled when you said "It struggles to run on our beastly pc that runs a 3080."..meanwhile I'm waiting for the download to complete to test on a 4090 =D
Everything is great... except for the cape collision... you would think the cape wouldn't clip through Superman's body... but I get it that 1 person created this and the main feature is flying. Not sure how hard collision mapping is with fabric simulations. Great work though... scale, speed and immersion is top notch.
I spent hours flying around the city as Superman and one of the things I had the most fun with was just building up to that super speed flight. I would love to do that in 4k!
Man, i feel like if someone just put everything into making an insanely detailed, living and breathing city in UE5 they could license it out to game devs and you could see a lot of different games set in the same city, with some tweaks and additions here and there. I think that'd be pretty cool, especially if everyone who licensed it out added on to the city in some way and kept it growing over time.
Honestly, I would love to see a Superman game where the player can choose what to make of him good, bad, or evil. There is a lot of potential to kind of bring elements of Prototype and Infamous to breath new life into a fading hero. But will WB ever do it, well they would but ... Batman!
I've been saying for awhile now that the future of all games is player flight. Just imagine an arena shooter or battle royale where you simply just fly and have in air combat. How this hasn't been done even a single time is insane to me, its the only unique thing possible left that would change everything. Companies need to take this demo and make a game with it.
fighting in air is quite difficult to pull off as a game developer as well as a player, they need to make a complete fighting playstyle / system which is easier/ understandable to the player. In air usually you can fight with long range combat like guns, lasers, energy blasts, for close range combat its a different thing, there are games where we fight in air as well as ground like DBZ anime fighting games, the characters can shoot energy blasts, use special anime named attacks like kame hame ha (goku special attack), But yes, I also think fighting in the air is the way to go for a unique combat style, maybe something like Attack on Titan (AOT) gears to travel/ traverse through cities and fight with guns or katanas/ knife. lets hope we get some good unique combat style.
I'm cautiously optimistic here. The flying looks really fun, but that's just one aspect of a superman game out of several that I feel they'll struggle with (combat and probably story). He's just too OP. Going the Super Massive Games, Quantic Dream route is probably the best for an OP character like superman. Make a lot of the gameplay cinematic and leave the flying and traversal as third person. Maybe toss in some flying mini games? Then mostly focus on Boss fights. I don't know.
Could make it so your character starts out with powers but has to unlock new ones from leveling up until you get to the point to where you fighting God like beings in game with insane powers
@@evileyegaming405 Hmmm, but how will he level up though? Superman fighting thugs... Doesn't seem right. He can't be hurt. And if they try to justify it, it will just look forced. So thugs and small fry are out of the question. So what will people be doing with him when they're not flying around? Batman and sleeping dogs are fun because the thugs can take you out so there's a challenge there. Besides the likes of darkside or brainiac, no one is a match for Superman. It's just how everyone is so excited and saying this shows that the game can be made. A superman game is much more than just flying. And it will be very difficult coming up with a fun way to play as an invincible, overpowered, godlike being if they go the typical action game route. But that's just how I feel... My opinion.
@@EricOlorunfemi they could just come up with a ridiculous story about Lex Luthor using cryptonite to create serum that makes the thugs worth fighting and could also make some giant robots to fight against...then have some missions at night or having like a solar eclipse mid a giant robot boss fight so Superman wouldn't be as strong! And maybe having the fight mechanics like a cross between Arkham and Web of Shadows...idk I think it could work really well! They could add some racing challenges against Flash and even pull some silly side missions like Spiderman PS4 have with you collecting pigeons, idk put some cats on trees for Superman to rescue, make him catch suicide people jumping of bridges and buildings, have him fighting a meteor before it strikes earth. There's a bunch of OP and dumb stuff that could be made to make the game doable.
@@andremalerba5281 Pessimistic as I might sound, I would be very happy if they actually take up the challenge and make the game. Hell, I'd even still play it even if it sucked.
Imagine having a boss fight with General Zod in this big wide city You 2 are chasing each other around the city at mach 7 while trying to beat each other up That one would have been a next Gen boss battle
I love how ONE DUDE managed to make such an epic game that whole as companies can't do. Next is to get these level graphics into VR, this game would be gnar. Might cause motion sickness though.
He didn't though, the world is from Epics Demo and the animations are from an asset package that's used in UNDEFEATED, whether he made the model or not I don't know but the rest isn't his, he's just copied the player into a world and changed the model.
This is nice and looks like a lot of hard work went into this, but the issue that concerns me is destructibility. For the Superman with Unreal Engine 5 to be more realistic there must be as much destructibility and detail as possible when flying around and tossing objects like cars. Crashing through buildings, going through offices, breaking windows, statues, debris etc.
I would love a game where you can go inside a window of someone house or building like those in new york because if not its just a game with pretty graphics.
I've been banging the drum for a flight sim to use this technology. Right now, the most photoreal flight sims use photogrammetry and satellite photos teamed with AI which analyses the tops of buildings and extrapolates the 3D shape of those buildings. The end result is very convincing from altitude, but get in among the buildings and the illusion falls apart horribly. UE5 for some next-gen flight sim would be such a great thing. And as resource hungry as this demo is on PC, it still runs at a better framerate than something like MSFS does, ranging from about 58+ fps down at ground level in amongst the busiest areas of the city, to up to 100fps all the way up in the air using the camera feature in the Matrix demo. This is in contrast to around 30 to 70 or 80 in MSFS, at least these are the approximate numbers on my own system at 1080p. This tech is such a leap forward.
After seeing the epic flying girl sequence in the UE5 launch, I've realized my dream of experiencing a triple a Superman game can finally be possible, so it's about damn time.
Another one I’ve always wanted to see is a Flash game. I really think that a Flash game has the potential to be a really fun and unique experience because there’s so much more to his powers than just running fast.
This is insane🔥 this layout can be used to make a ground breaking change to superhero games in general. For example this could’ve easily been a Flash mod with him running through this city, up & down the buildings & I’d be just as impressed.
The amount of filler in the script to get this video over the 10 minute mark is more impressive than the actual footage.
I am more impressed with the filler in Superman’s pants.

The storyline would be the most difficult part.

With a Superman game you need more than Metropolis. You need the map to be open as much as possible or flying will get boring quick.
In spider man/Miles in ps4/ps5 swinging never gets boring somehow. Its so fine tuned to perfection. But yeah flying would get boring if its a small area relative to his speed

@@StopFear No, its possible. The game Superman Returns back in 2006 is one big proof that its possible.

The potential for movement is amazing. Imagine if they added the choice for free fall, launching yourself over a building into free fall, flashy dodging through traffic. Fluidity in his flying would be greatly increased by giving more options than just "going forward fast"
This comment….💯
Imagine if they made the flight controls really fluid and engaging, like Spiderman swinging or Ghost of Tsushima riding. Imagine if you could play it like Red Dead 2 and become good or evil?
Why would Superman free fall? That's really REALLY slow compared to how fast he can go.
@@brent829 Why would he free fall? He wouldn't, but it would look cool as shit so why not.
It would look cool, but as gameplay it would inevitably mean quickly getting bored. He is the kind of character who is simply too powerful for a video game. It would be better if it were about some other character who could have at least some limitations.
It would be nice to see an official superman game, although I have no idea how they would balance it.
Kryptonite bullets prolly
I hope major developers are paying attention, because I really would love a good Superman game to play.
Would be cool, but if they hand over the rights it’ll probably be to some huge studio that’ll go over budget and under deliver.
Everyone would bro!
You cant see any superman game, because it is licensed to DC company and they will never allow anyone to produce a game unless you pay them 3 million dollar license fee or something like that, at the end you cant earn that money from a game.
@@RedShark493 Ah, good ol' licensing paired with greed. Can't be beat.
Imagine a game like this, and you get to choose whether you want to be a good Superman or a bad one like in Injustice, and you get missions based on what your actions are.
Regardless, a game like this could be so fun!
OMG a Superman game with infamous’ morality system would be insane
But that would mean that the game is a trope and a cliche. There are too many games where you are given these "good and bad" choices. If he is to remain "superman" these choices won't really affect the player experience significantly.
Like the honor system in RDR2

@@jayman1897 knowledge is enough to know that a super man game would not be fun. You can only make a fetch quest game. super man is also super boring.
Along with doing detective work.
amazing analysis btw
The story and gameplay wise would have to be good Superman game good idea but its a risky move because all the Superman games failed to meet sales.
nah i wanna turn evil and destroy metropolis😂
The objectives in a Superman game should be thought of from the perspective of Lex Luthor, like forcing you to choose between saving his mom or his lover. Superman does have vulnerabilities that creates challenges for him, but they aren't physical challenges. Like adjusting his hearing or pulling his punches (like Marvel's Spiderman), it's really all mental.
I’m sorry what? Who said anything about superman being a brute? He can still be immensely powerful and near unkillable whilst also using his powers for good

I don’t know how well Superman would translate to video games, he’s supposed to be absolutely unstoppable, like a god walking among humans. It would be difficult to capture this in a game while still making it enjoyable.

I think that’s why Batman’s more popular being more relatable and accessible as shown by the rocksteady games
Make a SuperBoy game. He's more interesting and he has a cool leather jacket.
Oh also, for a Superman game you just give him alien or robot enemies who have kryptonite weapons of some kind. Making him a younger Superman, you can strip out some powers and let you (superman) discover his "new" abilities.

i think it would just be a open world with world destruction
the amount of work put into the collision model of his cape is overwhelming.
Video Games in 2022. We don't make games anymore, we make engine demos to show off what we could make if we wanted to.
You never fail to pick up an interesting topic, everyday uploads, good voice - all and all you rock Gameranx.
Dude you are literaly a genius, i was thinking a lot on how to make a proper flying system for my videogame and i never think in making it like it was a car, it's just perfect

The flight speed is no where near being accurate. Superman is able to travel faster than sound but like very game the travel aspect will be nerfed
I ran this at 1080p on my RTX 2070 (3 year old card) and I was getting 30FPS at max flight speed near the ground. Broke into the 50s high up. Way better than I was expecting considering the visuals (the most realistic city setting I've ever seen).

The flying in Anthem was pretty legitimate. A couple of tweaks in aethetic from bio suit to person, and they could do a good job. Just please, for the love of everything, keep EA away from it.
Amen to that
I’d love to see a game with realistic crashing into objects that shows the damage to buildings cars roads, etc
Wow
[PROTOTYPE] with this type of Engine would be dope
You seem like a huge fan of prototype
@@Angga-ew1mh he's not the only one
completely forgot that series existed, hell of a game both 1 and 2.
Imagine if it allowed you to fly through a building and it takes the whole thing down that would be sick in a superman game
You want a Homelander game
Why would superman do that lol
Just be a cool detail I guess lol
@@cjay6664 but superman r a pretty cool guy. He kills space allens n doesn’t afraid of anything
@@KuciMane I was just about to type that lmao
Everything is great... except for the cape collision... you would think the cape wouldn't clip through Superman's body... but I get it that 1 person created this and the main feature is flying. Not sure how hard collision mapping is with fabric simulations. Great work though... scale, speed and immersion is top notch.
Alot of games have this. Even the new horizon forbidden Aloys hair clips through everything
trust me fabric simulations like that suckkkkk lmao. Especially for a demo I think its something that should be overlooked
I spent hours flying around the city as Superman and one of the things I had the most fun with was just building up to that super speed flight. I would love to do that in 4k!
Where do you get this game?
Over the years I’ve realized that it isn’t the highest end graphics that makes a game great.
Then what is?
@@Mope333 gameplay mechanics, story, level designs, character (in RPG) etc are more important.
Well Epic owns the license so that would be up to them
dude this is so amazing - mind blown crazy amazing share i appreciate it
Honestly, I would love to see a Superman game where the player can choose what to make of him good, bad, or evil. There is a lot of potential to kind of bring elements of Prototype and Infamous to breath new life into a fading hero. But will WB ever do it, well they would but ... Batman!
I only want it if you can also play as Clark Kent and have to pay bills, make deadlines at the Daily Planet, and see a doctor about your IBS.
I hate how the cape doesn’t move in the wind
I've been saying for awhile now that the future of all games is player flight. Just imagine an arena shooter or battle royale where you simply just fly and have in air combat. How this hasn't been done even a single time is insane to me, its the only unique thing possible left that would change everything. Companies need to take this demo and make a game with it.
fighting in air is quite difficult to pull off as a game developer as well as a player, they need to make a complete fighting playstyle / system which is easier/ understandable to the player. In air usually you can fight with long range combat like guns, lasers, energy blasts, for close range combat its a different thing,
there are games where we fight in air as well as ground like DBZ anime fighting games, the characters can shoot energy blasts, use special anime named attacks like kame hame ha (goku special attack),
But yes, I also think fighting in the air is the way to go for a unique combat style, maybe something like Attack on Titan (AOT) gears to travel/ traverse through cities and fight with guns or katanas/ knife.
lets hope we get some good unique combat style.
Anthem tried but Warframe has it down pretty well.
Lol no. Just no
My thoughts exactly. Be sure to check out Avium this coming Holiday season.
20 years from now, we would just laugh at this graphics when we look it back.
Yeah because 20 years from we'll probably be inside the game lol
@@jsant8998 We are already inside the game. It's just that you don't trust your processing power as much as the technology in this video.
@@abahgus I meant something more like that 09 film Gamer where we can physically feel like we are in. Nothing to do w your mind.
Cmon DC, get someone on this. Everyone loves Superman. You gonna give people nice memories. Please.
Imagine having a boss fight with General Zod in this big wide city
You 2 are chasing each other around the city at mach 7 while trying to beat each other up
That one would have been a next Gen boss battle
I love how ONE DUDE managed to make such an epic game that whole as companies can't do. Next is to get these level graphics into VR, this game would be gnar. Might cause motion sickness though.
He didn't though, the world is from Epics Demo and the animations are from an asset package that's used in UNDEFEATED, whether he made the model or not I don't know but the rest isn't his, he's just copied the player into a world and changed the model.
@@user-lv3hd9qo8k Ah ok, thanks for that.
This would be one of the best games of all time . So insane
Stop overreacting it's annoying
That looks amazing. Graphics have come a long way.
With destruction mechanics, i’m all in!
A lot of games seem to not nail that perfectly idk why
I would love a game where you can go inside a window of someone house or building like those in new york because if not its just a game with pretty graphics.
GTA Vice City is the closest i reckon.... No where near the detail as this demo by far, but at least you can go inside. Not many games allow that.
Yessssssssss
And Green Lantern.
It’s called sonic.
(You can also collect rings and stuff - you’d love it - if you can handle the blue > red colour choices the developers used)
@@morganfreeman8451 wow. That was quite the intelligent response. Maybe you shoulda put a bit more thought into that one smart guy.

I've always thought gravity rush 2s "flying" was a good starting point for making flying actually good in gaming.
Its unreal to me how far graphics have come. Just to think when ps2 games came out I thought they looked amazing

LOL!!! I absolutely love how NOT impressed the driver is.
This is insane🔥 this layout can be used to make a ground breaking change to superhero games in general. For example this could’ve easily been a Flash mod with him running through this city, up & down the buildings & I’d be just as impressed.
