- Today we will take a look at Integy RC car upgrades. Will they survive heavy rc car bashing? Will they be better than Vitavon GPM or Treal for Traxxas and Arrma RC Bashers?

Novak is a blast from the past! Wanted to get one of their ESCs for my Tamiya Grasshopper back in the day.
Yeah I remember when I was younger being super excited when I got my first Novak ESC. Good times

I still have Novak HV Pro esc and 5.5t sensored motor in my e-maxx.
It works well enough even for our days!
I haven't had anything Novak in a while. I need to buy something and run it
1:12 using the Arrma grom free cheapo wrench on his $1000 XRT. I love it.
Yeah it was the right tool for the job at least it was the one I had in my pile :-)
My go-to threadlock is a step above blue threadlock and a step below red threadlock... I use Permatex Medium High Strength Orange Gel threadlock.
Orange is definitely a good option though I tend to find that blue is good enough for most applications.
You can use red thread lock all day. Use a fine tip on your soldering iron heat it up stick it down in the head of the screw with the red thread lock on it. Let the screw heat up then loosen. Works like a charm every time.
You can but in most cases it's not necessary. As long as the threads are clean the blue threadlock works fine most of the time and then you don't have to worry about heating it up to remove it.

@@DoRC with the stock motor stock ESC blue thread lock is probably fine. Once you start getting higher up and using 8S I just use red and add a little heat. I have a TS 100 it takes like three seconds to heat up.
Oh yeah on pinion gears I think red is absolutely fine and would definitely recommend it in most cases.
I got a 2wd Rustler VXl full of Integy aluminum upgrades including items you shouldn’t change to aluminum off of OfferUp for basically $150. That machine is wicked fast and as much as I have bashed it doing backflips and crashes I haven’t broken a thing. My only complaint is that screws will back out on you if you don’t loctite them , and the previous owner didn’t loctite everything so Ive lost a couple of screws. No big deal lol. Nice video, I always stayed away from integy parts and always buy brands like hot racing and treal. $30 for all of those gears for a big 1/5 truck says it all lol because I dropped a arrma steel slipper clutch gear in my senton 3s and that one gear was $37 plus tax
Yeah I would have been pretty surprised if they were good.
I’ve heard Integy was not the best but I think that’s usually an overreaction. When I finally bent my stock Xmaxx driveshaft I ordered a Integy replacement but it had a way out delivery date so I ordered a GPM shaft as well . The GPM shaft arrived first so that’s what I’m using but they both felt about the same in hand and looked just as thick. I’ll still order Integy parts
Seems reasonable. I think that some of their stuff is good it's just that some of it at least in the past isn't. That is supported somewhat by the fact that the spur gear in the video really isn't holding up well.

How much longer screws can you use on the spur gear shaft cover? I definitely need to do so
You can go at least a few millimeters but what I would recommend doing is getting a thin screwdriver or hex bitand just run it down the hole to see how deep it is.
Looks like you got your XRT diffs and center drive balanced nicely what is your F:C:R oil config?
If I do it's mostly out of luck. I'm really not much into tuning. I think it's 100K front and rear and then ear plugs in the middle.
My xmaxx is so upgraded i haven't broke a part in a long time.. i have the powerhobby 729 servo installed.. so with that a aluminum drag link and Bellcrank.. ive used the plasic Bellcrank Support for years.. and it finally split right where the servo saver spring is.. im going to try the cheapest option aluminum part.. 21 dollars shipped.. lol

I've got a bunch of Integy parts in my TRX4m and they all fit well and have held up so far. I mean it's just a mini crawler so it's not like they are getting abused like a basher. If it takes time to get to the part I think it's worth spending the extra money to save yourself time later.
It does seem like they've gotten better with their more recent products.

@@DoRC yeah they were real popular when the associated MGT came out. So much so so that they made a full hardcore MGT that u could buy with all the parts they made for it. Full metal ...almost . I think transmission case was still plastic. Probably 15-20 years ago
I have had fairly good experiences with Integy in the past. As far as the X gears, Vitavon has always lasted the longest, but they are pricey.
Yeah it seems like you do get what you pay for when it comes to gears for the most part. I've actually had good luck with the GPM spur but my favorite is still MMM
I have a slash 2wd that’s integy chassis , all aluminum, i never ran it or finished it , back than I got a deal on the chassis and I had several parts to make it a shelf queen , I used have a clear body so looked cool . Temu get lock tight glues ect for pennys only problem is they never leave you alone lol

Hi, enjoy your videos. Who makes the battery mount brackets i see in the video? Have seen these 3d printed, but yours looks like they are made from aluminium.
They're hot racing. I've used various versions of them on several vehicles and they work really well. The straps that are included are junk though.

The MMM spur gear and saga pinion are pretty much indestructible.
Novak!!! I had that ESC in my RC10 in 1980 something. 😂 What would happen if we mix a little red into blue loctite? 🤔
I have no idea. I've never tried it.
I just put the GPM mod 1.5 35t spur and pinion in my xmaxx (it has the max6 g2 combo with the 4990 motor). Hopefully it lasts more than 6 runs like your spur. The GPM spur looks like it was probably made in the same factory though. Lol. I have a Vitavon 1.5 spur siting here in case it fails, but I didn't use it since I would prefer to keep the cush drive if this GPM spur will last.
In my experience the GPM spur is quite a bit more durable. I've got at least a half a dozen packs through one on mine and it still looks new. This one was showing wear after the first pack
I'm bound and determined to buy truck today. But I'm stuck in between the kagama and the new armor crate. In which one would you go with? If you don't mind me asking. I watch all your videos. Your feedback is really 100%. Keep up the good work please give me your recommendation
It depends on what your goals are. I think the Kagama is an overall better vehicle but it has a more limited upgrade path and fewer places from which to buy replacement parts.

As mush as I like the Cush drive, I just couldn’t find a durable solution to keep one. I’ve broken several aluminum Cush drive housings and an aluminum one with the same motor & esc you’re using, so I ended up getting the GPM tri supported spur shaft that’s basically just a giant pinion for a spur
It’s funny how traxxas makes every little part durable but exactly at the limits of what they supply . Sure xxmaxx durable , stock and awesome modified but stock it’s a dog and awesome it’s 1500 .
I've never really had a problem with any of my Kush drive housings. The little rubber inside tends to deteriorate over time but even the stock housing is held up well for me.
Me too but I never had anything with a big can and cushdrive , I think it works well

Just a random aluminum one I found on Amazon. Seems okay but probably not the best quality. I was running 3520 by the end of that video.
So....... about 23 years ago, i reviewed Integy for a magazine i worked for. They had a disclaimer then "warranty void if product is used". In other words, display only. My review never made it to publication, which is probably a good thing.
They will have to prove themselves to ever get me to purchase them, let alone an endorsement, and so far.... nope.
Lol. Yeah that's not a good sign of their confidence in the quality of their parts. I think that my experience in this video pretty much shows that they're about the same as they always have been. Some of the stuff's good and some of it isn't. I'm very impressed with the front knuckles. They hit every dimension perfectly and that's not the easiest thing to do on a part like that.
I have to use red loctite on my XMAXX pinion. What Traxxas puts on ther pinions doesn't work on my XMAXX. I wonder if it's due to heat because there real hott when they slide off
I'm not sure exactly what causes it but they x-platform pinions are particularly susceptible to loosening up.
Always crazy to see how much work is required just to reach the center diff. Feels like whoever designed this stuff was drunk as a skunk. Meanwhile arrma 8s is in the corner laughing with it's ease of repairability. 😥

I bought the XRT front and rear hubs and the bearings literally fall out of them ther so loose... "Before installing". I've never had loos fitting bearings before in anything from Traxxas. Like literally side to side play, front and rear
You mean the Traxxas ones?
@@DoRC yes the Traxxas ones. I couldn't beleave how much slop ther was. All other have always fit very snug and never loose. But the XRT ones I got for my XMAXX were really bad. I'm using them.. nothing boke yet but thers noticeably more play especially in the rear
Use loktite 222. It is made for small hardware
I've tried it in the past. I'm not really a fan. Just doesn't have the grip that blue loctite does.

Yeah it was really impressed with the fit finish and durability of them.

It's good. No complaints.
Xmaxx is where i had the worst galling issues when running aluminum parts with barings in them.. food grade anti seize is my salutation
If you get galling between aluminum parts and bearings chances are the fit wasn't good to begin with.
I have found putting tiny amounts of various putty like window caulk or silicone earplug in loose fitting bearing openings will prevent rotation of the bearing in there. My main problem with Hot Racing has always been bearing openings being too small.
Heat the alu up it will expand and you will be able to put it in a lot easier
@@DoRC they were the integy knuckles and one got bent so when i went to remove the the drive shafts they had galled up so bad i ended up ruining the stub axle trying to free then from the barings.. anti seize has been my saving grace.. only the silver kind gets all over the place and is hard to wash off your hands even with soap.. i have found the food grade variety seams to be easier to deal with
i have the axial xr10 with novak m2dig esc and both are no longer made bummer

Usually on these if you hear squeaking it's the CVDs.
@@DoRC makes perfect sense, made me think my Losi kit has cvd boots and we’re only not using grease because sand will stick , the Losi boots are too small I think for Arrmas and maxxes are plastic of course. Still be good idea if aftermarket company sold them especially for the maxxes . Idk why I didn’t think about the cvds , I know the xxmaxx does it even new 🆕. Side note , other than warranty idc” is it cool to buy new Rc off of eBay , I missed the sale on the 6th scale rock Rey but still same price on eBay. How can they sell em that cheap . They buying containers 🫙 😆

Treal, vitavon and M2C are all well known top-tier. Custom RC upgrades also makes really good stuff but they're Not as well known. Hot racing is generally good as aren't Traxxas upgrades but they use weaker aluminum than the previously mentioned. GPM has improved a lot and their modern stuff is pretty good.

Honestly I’ve had fit issues with just about every aftermarket company Treal Injora all of them especially when it comes to gears axles drive train items the tolerances are very low so any poor machining shows up real fast. RCAWD is another company like it I recently placed an order & it took forever & the products seem to be made just like Intigy.
Treal has been top-notch for me. I haven't had vitavon, but I'd say they're every bit as quality imo.
Yeah I've had problems with every company I've ever bought parts from but some have more problems than others.

Upgrade companies of the past: Golden Horizon, Megatech, and New Era Models.
The only one of those I recognize is new era
And this is why companies like Integy get such bad reputations. Their inconsistency makes it nearly impossible to differentiate between good products and bad and why people generally paint their products with a wide brush. I mean, blanket statements like "Integy sucks" might be unfair but it is completely understandable.
Yeah I agree with that. Unless most of your parts are good people kind of have to assume that none of your parts are going to be good. Of course the sample size of two isn't going to be necessarily fully representative but given that it matches what my previous experience has been I think it's reasonable

Integy has never been crap, yeah shocks leak… but everyone who has said integy was crap. I asked for proof and they couldn’t give any… so do rc please explain yourself
I use a lot of their parts over the years and their quality is just hit or miss. The parts I showed in the video are no different. The knuckles are good but the spur gear is not. I've had fitment issues parts that broke too easily manufacturing issues etc. Some of the stuff they make is fine but it's just too inconsistent to be able to recommend
From my experience, the parts that they make that are fine being aluminum are good, the parts they make that are parts that shouldn’t be aluminum are not great.
I think they got their bad name from the guys that made full aluminum T-Maxxes and Savages in the early 2000’s. They didn’t start off with the best designs to begin with, unnecessary aluminum was never going to fix that.
GPM is no better or worse across the board in my opinion, I’ve bent both doing stupid stuff.
@@vivos71 I think GPM is better these days because all of their new stuff is 7075. That does make a pretty decent difference
