Choso (脹ちょう相そう Chōsō?) is a supporting character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He and his two brothers, Kechizu and Eso are incarnated Cursed Womb: Death Paintings No. 1-3. Choso initially sided with Kenjaku's alliance with Mahito until he discovered one of the curse user's past identities was the cruel father of the Death Painting Wombs, Noritoshi Kamo. He also found out that Yuji Itadori is another relative of Kenjaku's and has aligned himself with his new "younger brother".
As a Death Painting Womb, Choso is a half-human, half-cursed spirit who has a flesh and blood body that is fully visible even to non-sorcerers. His appearance is predominantly that of a human man with long black stringy hair tied into two high ponytails that jut upward and outward. Choso has small dark purple eyes with slightly thin eyebrows and a blood mark that extends from both sides of his face across the bridge of his nose. He can make this mark bleed at will in order to produce ammunition for his cursed technique, and the mark changes shape if he uses Flowing Red Scale.
As far as clothing, Choso wears a loose, light tan robe that covers his torso, arms, and legs. It's worn underneath a purple gi-like vest that covers his torso in a "v" shape and has a bottom section that extends to Choso's waist and groin area. He also always sports a round scarf around his neck that matches his gi and brown boots.
In the anime, Choso has violet eyeshadow around his eyes and his hair is a light brown color.
Choso is a very calm and reserved person who's fairly quiet and tends to fade into the background of social groups. He normally has a bored expression on his face and appears aloof and completely disassociated in most situations.
Choso is half cursed spirit but he doesn't have an inherent desire to attack people and doesn't even harbor any disdain toward jujutsu sorcerers. He's not cruel or vicious in any way and generally doesn't speak often unless it has to do with his family. In fact, Choso loved his human mother and the sorcerer who toyed with him was the only one to earn his hatred.
Despite appearing to be a very disassociative person, Choso is very attached and protective of his brothers. Upon being incarnated, Choso told his two brothers that three of them lived only for one another and that they were all one.[3]
I already know that shibuya sequence “gojo, jogo, choso” wasn’t easy to narrate. Very well done !

I think I know why we haven't seen anything of Aoi Todo until now. Choso's closeness with Yuji would completely overshadow him. It's sad but Yuji benefits more from Choso in his life.
That's a huge point! Choso DID replace Todo, and did it in the same way as Todo by having memories injected into him during his fight with Yuji.
I dont think thats the reason. I think there is a major missed opportunity by not including choso x todo interactions.
Hopefully, Todo will return and we can see Todo and Choso team up against a powerful opponent. Their cursed techniques compliment each other very well.

Choso and yuji are biological half-brothers, since they both share kenjaku as a parent. Small mistake, while Jogo was the strongest among them, it was explicitely stated 2 times that Jogo thinks of Mahito as the leader, because of Mahitos overwhelming potential.
Ofc Mahitos potential got cut short, but still, Jogo always propped Mahito up as their leader.

Disagreed, while the fight wasn't completely onesided, Choso went out without even a single injury while Mechamarus plan nerfed him heavily.
And as we know from his fight against Naoya shortly after this, if Yuji ever injured him heavily, that would be game over for Yuji because Yuji wouldn't be able to do anything against the waves of blood Choso can produce from his wounds.
Yuji literally has a 0% chance of beating Choso.

Counterpoint: Choso was literally aborted before birth and sealed for 150 years, he NEVER fought or took a hit in his life.
My point is, Choso didn't take any damage, as we see he is completely uninjured after the fight. Choso is just a newbie fighter and isn't used to getting hit, so Choso himself overestimated the pain and damage he took, when in reality his body was still completely fine.
A seasoned fighter can take a punch to the face and keep going, but if you use the same hit on a much bigger, tougher guy that NEVER fought in his life, that bigger tougher guy will feel much more affected by the pain. So this is not Choso being less tough than the likes of Todo, this is Choso being inexperienced and just MENTALLY unprepared to take hits.
As we know from Naoya, Choso is unusually tough. And as we know from comparing Yujis normal hits on Hanami vs on Choso when Choso hardened his body, his hardening makes him even tougher than Hanami, of course at the thrombosis risk(which honestly will never happen in the story since it would be a lame way to lose, so the risk is a nonfactor).

Crazy hot take honestly. Yuji became stronger, but you know who did as well? Choso. Every single fight he's in, he's shown massive growth.
Even in the art, you see more and more blood every time before he condenses it. And as I said above, a pure melee fighter literally stands no chance at beating CHoos unless they can 1 hit kill him because of the amount of blood Choso can surround himself with.
And as we know from the Kenjaku fight, Choso can use blood as part of his body, connecting severed limbs to freely control them.
So killing him in one shot is out of the question unless you have something like Gojos purple to just erase him or you crush his brain in one go.

You misunderstand projection sorcery. He can NOT split his route, quite the opposite. He has to use the route he decided on from the get go, if he doesn't, he will suffer the consequence of being trapped in a still frame for 1 second. He projects a path along 24 frames and then he takes that path, no splitting routes, only ONE route he has to fully commit to.
That is why Naoya told Choso "Too bad for you, I always act on the assumption my opponents will counter."
That is because projection forces Naoya to stay on the same route, so he can not react to an opponents counter, so he has to plan ahead for counters because otherwise, his technique would not allow him to adjust in the middle of his movement and he would be forced to either take the counter or be frozen for 1 second.
Projection makes you so fast because as long as it doesn't excessively mess with physics, you can plot out the path in whatever way you want.
Meaning Naoya can decide that he will move 100 meters in a single frame and that route will than happen through his technique.
But changing routes is impossible, so it works exactly opposite to what you described, it forces you to fully commit, and for that you gain ridiculous speed, can completely ignore anything that would slow you down normally and can move in inhuman, teleportation like ways.

Almost correct. It's not like he CAN'T control it, it's because Naoya is so fast that he has no time to make any moves inbetween getting hit.
Using convergence or otherwise manipulating blood outside of his body just takes too long while he is getting ragdolled. So it is NOT the same effect as when he fought Yuji.

Naoyas technique is never visualized, so the more logical assumption is that EVERY MOVEMENT NAOYA MAKES is using his technique when he fights.
Because why the hell would he choose to move slower?
Chosos strength really is one of the more underestimated aspects in the community imo.
Especially his POTENTIAL strength. Let's not forget that Tengen specifically asked for Choso, Yuki or Yuta as her bodyguards. Yuta and Yuki are obviously FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR above Choso.
So why the hell ask for Choso? If Yuki and Yuta guarded her, Kenjaku couldn't have captured her. Well, my take is that Tengen, being the super old saint of jujutsu that she is, sees the potential of Choso to be that of a special grade sorcerer and expected him to grow fast enough to fulfill the role of her guard. Also, her throwing Choso out of the barrier instead of having him try to assault Kenjaku right after the black hole further suggests that Tengen is betting on Choso to keep growing in order to stop Kenjaku.
And if we consider the crazy possibilities of his technique, like, if he becomes skilled enough and hits you once, he may be able to control your blood now that his blood is mixed in. Making him a bloodbender essentially. Also, since Choso can straight up make his cursed energy into blood, ever since fighting Naoya and growing in strength, he should be able to just make the huge blood waves without the need of getting cut first. The cut was just forcing him to be creative. So no pure melee character can actually hope to beat Choso unless they are so astronomically strong that they can just walk through his blood without worrying for any consequences.
So I firmly believe Choso is one of the most likely candidates to rise to special grade sorcerer status in the series.
The others would be Hakari and Yuji, just because Gojo said they have that potential.

Higuruma has absolute peak domain hax, but we saw that even without cursed energy Yuji was boxing with him, and while he wasn’t absolutely dominating the grade 1 level sorcerer he was able to duck his sentence the first time after throwing down and figuring out he could call for a retrial. The danger Yuji was in at the end of their fight is a result of Higuruma having a blade that could 1 tap anyone. Without the effects of his domain expansion, which only went into affect bc of how the fight started, Yuji with no restrictions on his cursed energy would Blitz and incapacitate higuruma immediately, unless he gets off his domain literally the instant Yuji is within range while he’s moving at full speed he can’t compete with Yujis physical abilities.
That being said his use of his powers is very intelligent and he isn’t the type to leave himself in positions he’d be open to tactics like that, but regardless Yujis performance shows that he needs the effects of confiscation to compete with a tank like Yuji who’s just built different in the physical department

Choso has alot of potential and thats what i like about his character
Great video, just adding that the version of Yuji that Choso beat is a lot stronger than what he was during his fight with Mahito and the good will event.
Also, a clean shot from Choso is strong enough to hurt Kenjaku. We see this with Kenjaku needing to use his gravity technique to avoid Choso’s supernova. Kenjaku didn’t want to reveal this technique, so the fact he did, implies that he thought Choso’s attack would hurt him.
ehh that's the thing. Lower levels can still hurt people stronger than them most the time (aka Gojo and Sukuna).
In that instance I'd say it was just Kenjaku was caught off guard. A more accurate representation was how Kenny could take piecring blood but still used curses instead.

I'm an anime only watcher. And for the life of me I could never really connect with this anime because I didn't have a favorite character. Gojo is everybody's favorite so naturally he is just okay with me. But once I saw this man fight it to Dory he immediately became my favorite character and I'm very happy to finally have one

I don’t think he’ll get a power up, I think Choso will be used as a power up for YujI but I think he will make it epic, something along the lines of YujI being Chosos revenge against KenJaku with the power Yuji gains from Choso and the other deathpaintings (basically Yujis other siblings), would’ve loved to see them all in physical form, pretty sure all of them have huge potential since their all Special grade objects, eventually they’d be pretty strong I believe.

I think they have to be acknowledged by the jujitsu school higher ups, and they kinda dead now
First of all, higher-ups doesn’t want to classify Yuuji as a sorcerer because of Sukuna (that’s why Yuuji does not have any particular grade)
And second, even if Toudo and Mei-Mei promoted both Yuuji and Nobara, there are steps that needed to be follow to become a 1st grade sorcerer. And those steps take a huge amount of time and effort, which they ( Nobara & Yuuji) weren’t able to do it because Shibuya arc.
Also never forget that kenjaku thoufht the best way to make a cursed spirit in the end was to get his own cheeks clapped

Pretty good video but throughout the analysis there are some choice of words and observations that negatively impact the review. Choso is outclassed in Naoya not out of overall strengrh but due to overwhelming speed. When fighting Kenjaku and Uruame, he is very exhausted as stated by Ken to due to his fight which would greatly affect his peformance
A lot of stuff here like Post-Shibuya Yuji being able to beat Choso is pure speculation and never backed up. Choso was reacting to and fighting Naoya better than Yuji from the start.
Also, the Sukuna that claimed Choso to be an inferior opponent was 4F, not 3F. Even so, if we take it that 4F Sukuna would defeat Choso, it's not much of a discredit to Choso's level of power since only Jogo out of the Cursed Spirits is implied to be outright stronger than 3F Sukuna, and is the strongest out of the Disaster Curses.
Choso believed Eso and Kechizu could take out a Finger Bearer, and he is significantly above them. The idea that he'd be between 2-4F Sukuna is enough to say he's upper-mid tier and pretty close to High Tier... especially since he can harm Uraume and escape their ice with base Flowing Red Scale.
Choso with Flowing Red Stacked was stated by Naoya to have adapted to his speed, so he'd actually be relative--at least in reaction speed.
Overall, Choso during Shibuya is definitely inferior to his current state which gained better mentality and experience from his battles, but I'd say he's in the same tier as Dagon and Hanami, but would be higher than them if he has an answer for Domain Expansion (Which we don't know since we never once see him fighting against a Domain), but he's definitely lower than Jogo, who in turn would MOST LIKELY be lower than Yuta, who in turn would be lower than 15F Sukuna, and so on.
It is notable that Choso was selected as one of the three candidates to defend Tengen alongside Yuta and Yuki, meaning he was regarded as one of the strongest there in the eyes of Tengen (obviously below Yuta and Yuki, but it's still implies he's above the others)
Toji scales much higher the 3F Sukuna. Megumi was a lot more powerful when he faught Toji. He just compared how each overwhelmed him at his current state.
Megumi compares their speed (one aspect of fighting) and some how people equate the two as equals LOL

Goes to show the fun of JJKs fights, everyone stands a chance against there betters 99% of the time, heck with domain amplification Gojo has to actually dodge the disaster curses attacks, meaning they could hurt him, though he still outclasses them.

Where are the other Gojo clan members? I know the limitless without the six eyes are a big energy drain but others should still have it with some other techniques in the mix.
