Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he co-composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero, and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that hugely increased Celine Dion’s WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career. Funny as Lara is the absolute idol of Dimash. They broke as lovers around 1995 , but remained profressional partners. Rick was still the producer/composer of Lara . They wrote 2 songs about this new chapter of their lives: Je t'aime and Tout, released in 1996. On March 17th 2003, Rick broke completely with Lara and left her devastated. Apparently after the En toute Intimité tour, she was tired and wanted to make a long break, and Rick got really upset about it and left her. In the following months he worked for many greats from french music: Florent Pagny, Patrick Bruel, Johnny Hallyday, Michel Sardou, Chimène Badi, Nolwenn Leroy, Julie Zenatti, .... Lara had long been devastated about this professional separation. Up to 2017, when she said in an interview, that this day of March 2003 was the worst of her career. But nowadays, it has changed, and she does not refer so much to Rick. He had some childish and egoistic behaviors that surely finished to piss her off.

This concert is the best I have ever seen in my life and of all the ones of hers I have seen online, this was her shinning moment. The thing that kills me is that I had a CD of hers in 1997 and without the internet like we do today I lost track of her and now I would have given ANYTHING to have been at that concert. I have watched this entire upgraded concert at least 6 times and I still react to it as you do. She brings out so much emotion in me, I cry every time. Glad you discovered her…. En toute intimité 2003 in Paris is the preferred concert from her fan base ( just a piano and a few chords letting her voice shine) but it has more songs in french so a bit less appealing to the international audience. Pure 1997 is also incredible.

When she sings it in English, the lyrics are I’ve Cried Enough, but in this concert the lyrics are completely different. Do you know why? And as a bonus - a song I have never heard before is my new favorite - Leaving. I just left my husband of 18 years a year ago and this song really hit me, cried like a baby.
