Jess, check out 2 Wheels Big Life. Husband and wife have spent most of last year and the year before on bikes with a pull behind camper. They just swapped and got a truck. I am sure that they can give you some great info on camping and I know that they can give you info on camp grounds since they have been all over America. If you are dead set on a Bronco I would suggest waiting on the second gen models.

They have not been all over America. Just the USA and Mexico. That is about 1/4 of America. Stop lying, so maybe people will listen to you.
Then it is probably a bad idea, sins they swapped to a truck. Because they had a lot of problems, that they talked about, and maybe more. It is hard to ride a bike with a trailer. And Jess is not that good of a rider. - But the more important thing… It rips the bike apart.
I don't think she will use it that much. And it is not easy to handle alone. Then it gets much more easy to make up some reason that she had to take a expensive hotel, like she is used to. There is no luxury in camping. Then you have to buy a million dollar camping truck. Think that is a tad over budget…

Jess - here’s our take on popup motorcycle trailers - LOVE THEM!! We lived in a tent our 1st year, then went to the popup for our 2nd year on the road. Needed that extra comfort since we’re fulltime.
Our Bushtec trailer (used our 1st year) didn’t change our riding style in the slightest since it’s such a fantastic trailer to pull behind the HD. However, the popup trailers (or at least our Bunkhouse) are much heavier and cumbersome. Riding with it in the rain is very challenging, especially when you feel those trailer tires hydroplaning. Hills with stop signs at the top are a nightmare to deal with. You’ll learn a whole different way to park the bike because you don’t want to be in the situation of trying to push it backwards. Loading the trailer is key to proper weight distribution otherwise the trailer might sway or bounce on the tires (not a great feeling when you’re riding the bike)
With that being said, it’s such an awesome way to travel around the country. Setup and teardown are easier than a tent. Rain/wind/snow are much easier to handle. The bed is more comfortable. Cooking/cleanup is easier. The list could go on and on.
Basically, it comes down to how you want to ride and explore. We almost always found a place to camp, unhitched the popup and then went out on the bikes for a couple of days exploring the area. Our Bunkhouse served as a great basecamp, not something we wanted to setup and tear down every day, but I’m sure there are many who do just that and love it.
Best of luck on your decision - remember that “it’s not what you ride, but that it’s your ride”

I’ve pulled the Minimate in all climates. I just got back from Daytona a 2600 mile journey. Never had any hydroplaning at all. Heading out of Ocala just last Friday we had some heavy rain to ride through. We rode two hours in the rain and never once an issue with hydroplaning. You may have your trailer over/under weight and/or your tongue weight may be off. Also, tire pressure on both the bike and the trailer is very important. Safe travels.

They have videos on everything from how they prepared, budgeted, and packed along with travel videos of their adventures.

@@GeemailMailboxx I think it was the right move for them. They’re a bit older than Jess and two years of camping life were stressful. Rich still has the Harley. They just got ADV bikes because that matches the kinds of riding they want to do. A pop-up trailer would be great for Jess because she has the right kind of bike to pull it. Have 3 different pull behind the motorcycle campers. First was called a Knapper pulled it behind my 1992 Honda Goldwing 1500. Next was a Time Out that got pulled behind the aforementioned Goldwing and my 1999 HD Ultra Classic. Both of those campers were bought used. Then we bought a brand new Bunkhouse camper that was pulled behind the Harley and then 1997 Kawasaki Voyager XII. We had the Bunkhouse for close to 20 years as we bought it in 2000 and sold it for almost what we paid for it in 2018. Each one of camper was a step up in ease of set up, cargo capacity, and towing ease. As you can tell we were happiest with Bunkhouse, used it a lot. Towing behind motorcycle, car and truck. None of the trailers ever had brakes, only the Bunkhouse had a swivel hitch. We enjoyed all of them, and had many adventures.

For me personally, riding a motorcycle has to remain riding a motorcycle. Which means pulling something behind me which completely changes how the bike handles and the ability to have 'fun' on it (my definition of fun might be different than others) wouldnt make any sense. With two side cases, a topcase and the ability to strap luggage on your seat, I dont see how people need any more space than that. Maybe if u are living on the road and its a permanent home kind of thing.. but no, doesnt make any sense to me otherwise.

    My thoughts around pull-behind:
I have considered it for the quick setup and because some have a built in table and places to sit. But I haven't done it because:
-It doesn't keep out the sounds of the campground.
-It cripples your ability to get down difficult roads.
-Unless it is hard-sided, it is not a ticket to bear country. National Parks with a lot of bear activity often close affected campgrounds to all campers except hard-sided trailers.
-It costs you gas and fuel range.
-It doesn't offer any security advantages, but does present a new theft risk.
-It is even harder to back up, especially when you are tired.
I can see where you might like one. I am always in favor of trying new things, if it is affordable.
How about you buy one used to keep it inexpensive, and live in it for a few trips? Then you'll know.

I was pretty excited about the return of the Bronco as well, until I sat in one at the State Fair of Texas this past September. I was underwhelmed by the quality and finish. Too much plastic. felt cheaply made. Just like most new cars nowadays, I really don't expect to see too many of these vehicles on the road down the road with 200k, 300k, and beyond miles on them. Maybe if you wait until the Gen 2 Bronco, the quality will improve and the new car market will normalize by then. As for a trailer for Appa, I would get input from your mechanic first. Pulling a trailer will put more strain on the transmission/engine, and that strain could shorten the life of some of those components. Great video, as always!

I used to have the tail of my bike heavily packed for vamp trips and travel,... but once I installed a receiver hitch designed for my Roadking, and pulled my 3 × 4ft trailer with all I needed easily, and securely stored inside it;... it was like night and day for me!... All the tail weight, and high center of gravity was gone, handling was way easier!... the trailer followed me effortlessly without any wobbing or whipping, even at highway speed!... but you do have to be aware of weight, distribution of it, and increased stopping distance... but hey!.. no more T-Bags for me!.. Good luck!

Having owned both types, let me counsel you: don't confuse the modern Bronco (or even it's Jeep equivalent or any other small SUV) with a real TRUCK! If you want a manual 4WD, find an older truck and fix it up. The last REAL small SUV Ford made was the pre-'12 Escape... and those days are long gone. I've had a truck now for quite a few years, and you just CAN'T go back; anything less is just that... LESS.

Hi Jess. In the 70/80s I had a KZ900 Kawasaki ( which at the time was the fastest bike on the road) My wife had a Kz650. My Young son road behind her. My teenage daughter rode behind me. I pulled a trailer behind mine. My Brother Had a similar rig. We pulled that trailer many thousands of miles. I carried a cabin tent that slept the four of us. We could carry the clothes and food for a 4 day weekend. A trailer and the equipment you already have just a suggestion. Follow your passion. ❤️ Proudtexson

We (Red Bluff, CA) choose NOT to pull trailers with our bikes but to stay in Best (breakfast in the) Westerns. Was far less expensive a choice and we never have to mess with a wet canvas tent in a trailer. IF YOU MUST pull a bike camper, the teardrop hard shell style looks to be VERY weather proof and might slow down one of your bears... certainly more so than a soft side. In my younger days, I pulled a small house trailer behind a big Ford (390 cubic inch) Wagon. We went places and did things but the going part was not fun. Would you be sucking all of the fun out of riding the bike by converting it's use from a race horse to a plow horse? Does Appa (sp?) pull a cart? Is movement freedom or destination freedom the best part of your experience? It comes down to why we ride, doesn't it. Peace and Happy New year (p.s.). Lots of cute kids riding around in trucks and vans and camping on you tube. Magpie, you and Doodle are the 3 "2 wheelers" providing your brand of traveling content. For winter content, perhaps show gear acquisition, testing and prep, route planning, physical conditioning, bike mods and servicing...

If I was doing what you are thinking then I would not go with a Ford Bronco, maybe a Ranger in pinch. My choice would be a Toyota LandCruiser series 70 V8 Diesel with a pop top on the bed. Goes everywhere, is a reliable as hell, built like a tank. Not fancy inside but has just enough. I did have a trailer when i had my Honda ST1100 15yrs ago but I think I only actually used maybe 5 times. I'm a into motel camping now😂.

I pulled a very cheap Harbor Freight trailer behind my 96 Gold Wing for a while. About the same weight as your bike. Honestly had to look to make sure it was back there, twisties or not. It wasn’t a camper but took a circus tent and a blow up queen size mattress for my wife along with ANYTHING we wanted. I am thinking of getting a one wheeled trailer to pull behind my KLR650 for the TAT as well as behind my Dyna to tour with. I think you’ll love it!

Bronco? I live in Minnesota and have a dodge ram that it kills me to have to drive for the winter. I hate 4 wheels! If my "Satisfaction " wasn't so pretty I'd slap a side car on her and ride all winter too. Idk, maybe I'll pick up a hog for winter riding.

Hi Jess. This is a first timer comment. I have a Time Out Deluxe camper that I pull behind a Yamaha 1300. It is the best investment I have ever made. It has space for a queen sized air mattress and about 80 square feet of inside living space. I added solar power to mine with a 12 volt battery and I also added a small, ice chest sized refrigerator that uses the solar power. My first real trip was a 3,500 mile tour through Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Montana (Yellowstone), Wyoming, and Colorado. The trailer pulled great but i did keep my speed in the 60-65 MPH range. I would also recommend you get the optional brakes on the trailer. I did not and had to dodge three deer in Utah because of not enough time to stop.

I ride/camp with 6 other bikes, 2 have campers. They do setup a little quicker, and the boys definitely have less pains at the end of a week long trip. But...your bike will take a lot more abuse, (engine, brakes and tires mostly) and the ride is completely different. You feel a lot more drag and you will learn to corner differently. Good and bad, I'd say find a friend with one you can borrow, or maybe renting is an option in America.
P.S. most of us will continue watching/supporting if your on 2 wheels or 4...(4 being 2 for bike and 2 for trailer, hahaha jk).

Let your financial situation guide your purchase timing on the Bronco. Camper pricing of 6-10k, vs Bronco 30-50k. Quite a difference. The camper could be a nice, fun addition to your current corral, if you're still into the moto camping thing. Even 6k is a lot of money, sooo... 6k buys a lot of groceries, or pays a lot of utility bills. You and Jordan put your financial planning hats on and noodle it for a while. Happy New Year

I enjoy camping also but due to medical issues i need a stand up tent, a large cot and a comfortable chair. all of which wont fit on bike. my solution is an enclosed trailer , 16ft v-nose , twin axle. I'm able to tow my bike and ALL my comforts, tarps, small grill and firewood. I must confess though, I like a campground with , showers a snack shack for coffee maybe a pool. living in Massachusetts our state parks aren't very nicely equipped and I usually end up in the campgrounds that you don't like. i feel the same way though and don't like a parking lot style where you're on top of each other. , I've had good luck in getting non powered or water sites that are usually on the outskirts of these parks (tent sites). I usually trailer out for 4 or 5 days and take daily rides in each direction here from a base camp, here in New England ( Maine, New Hampshire ,Vermont ) I've thought of a bike camper but in my neck of the woods i just think someone would tap the trailer , sending me flying. Having to go thru Boston traffic to go up north would be like playing Russian Roulette in my opinion. I'm not sure if you can call my method "motorcycle camping" but its very comfortable for me , and even in bad weather i can , if i choose , detatch my truck and go exploring! PS.. i bought my trailer for winter bike storage, but now its like a rolling man cave, i love its multiple uses!!!... love your channel!!

Jess, Do I have direct experience pulling a trailer behind a motorcycle. NO. BUT that having been written, I went to a high school reunion recently and saw a classmate in rough shape. Learned he was pulling a trailer behind his bike while two up with his spouse, someone stopped short in front of him. He hit the brakes, the wife's words, "It was like a big hand pushing us forward... To avoid the vehicle, he went to the right, the right side of the trailer dropped into the ditch beside the road, it pulled us over and was pinned beneath the bike". Does that mean it will happen to everyone? No. But if you consider a pull behind trailer for the bike, try to find one with brakes. And with brakes, at least quadruple your distance to the vehicle ahead. On 4-wheel camping, get JR to put a cover (either aluminum or fiberglass) over the bed of the current truck. Easy, simple, efficient for cool weather camping. You'd be amazed how warm and comfortable you can be in one. Less that 1/2 the price of a m/c camping trailer, btw.

Long comment to get to a simple point. I've got Jeep and a truck and a motorcycle in Colorado. When the bronco first came out I was super interested. I wanted the stick shift and the Sasquatch package. But, they don't offer that. So, I'll stick with my Jeep. I've got a dog so, I always have to choose between two wheels and no camping or 4 wheels and camping.
But, the idea I have been tossing around that I thought might benefit you, is get a tw200 or something along those lines for a hitch carrier. Go camping and have two wheels to go exploring with. Or a mini bike. But, a dual sport allows more options.

Alright Jess, here’s my breakdown lol
As far as the motorcycle camper goes, if you’re part of groups on Facebook with owners of them, maybe see if someone is willing to let you borrow one to see if it’s something you’d enjoy. Never hurts to try before you buy.
Bronco: I am with you 100% on the Bronco. I also really love it and would love one, but price and availability are going to be major factors for at least two years. So for me, it might happen one day, but it’s going to be a while.
As far as the winter content is concerned, I’m here for any content you put out, two wheels, four wheels, no wheels, all the wheels, it doesn’t matter. You’re always entertaining and genuine and it shows. Now you just need to pick out your Bronco color(I like Cyber Orange) 😜

The worst motorcycle accident I was ever envolved in was due to a tent trailer I was hauling behind my 2003 HD Heritage. It was due to the need for a quick stop while doing about 60 MPH. The inetia of a trailer is amazing and if you try to stop quickly bad things will happen but I had no choice. Long story short the bike, trailer, and I went down and we all suffered for it. Luckily, no broken bones and I had insurance to pay for it but I didn't come out unscathed. If you get a trailer make sure it has an electric brakeing system or the inertia will get you in an emergency situation. My actual advice is, don't haul a trailer with your hog. Your owner's manual says not to do it. If you want to camp, stick with what you are doing now. On long trips, KOA campgrounds are a good choice to avoid bears and such but you have to deal with neighbors. State campgrounds have the same problems. A lot depends on the time of year. Ride on, girl.

I have my stove, my cooler, my two coffee makers, (one Electric, n one French press) plus tools n clothes, plus a place to put stuff if I wanna buy something. BUT !!! I am also thinking I want a pull behind camper... My wife said if I get one she would go campin with me. So there is a win win, go campin when I want and she will go as well. She rides her own as well.
!0 min to set up a camper verses one hour to set up tent and get everything in it ready. I have not driven the new bronco. But it is very very cool always loved them. the camper sounds like the way to go for sure and I am looking as well.

My wife and I pull one behind our Goldwing (previous was pulled by a Honda VTX). We have tent camped for years, but just wanted to upgrade. Upon seeing a buddy of mines camper, we were able to find one. The brand is an Aspen (Classic). It was a game changer. The bike doesnt even know its there. I have to know its there when I pull it, but the bike doesnt know. Anyways, it was one of the best things we bought. Last year we went from central Ohio (very close to you), and took it to Wyoming in order to go to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. We lived in it for the week. Tons of room and quite comfortable. FYI, the buddy who turned me on to it with his, upgraded to a full size RV. He is selling his Aspen. Hit me up if you have any questions. Better yet, ask my wife for she was the one more to please. Haha.

I plan on getting a Lees-ure lite for a couple reasons, even though there's less expensive options.
    1. They open up long ways, rather than sideways. The campers I have seen that open sideways are wider than a normal parking spot. The long way you can park in the trailer section of a rest area and set up. They have awnings, add-a-rooms, and screen rooms that you can add to either or both sides if you're at a camp ground, but they are not required.
    2. With the storage tip stand, they can be tipped up on end and only take up a 36" by 56" footprint.
    3. They are extremely fast to set up. Open the clam shell, extend and lock one support rod, and that's pretty much it.
The larger size would be at home behind almost any car or full size bike, though you have to get used to pulling a trailer with the bike. Give yourself plenty of extra room for all maneuvers.
As for 4 wheel adventures in the winter, you might loose a couple subscribers, but I doubt it will be anything significant. Your bike may bring new viewers, your personality is what gets them to subscribe.

Two suggestions, Look for a Bunkhouse trailer, And second get a trailer with a surge brake or electric brake. the electric you can adjust how much braking you would like. I traveled for several years and found that without a brake on the trailer your trailer will push you and on dirt or wet roads your motorcycles back tire will be pushed sideways. Practice, Practice, Practice with the trailer attached and in a parking lot at different speeds and turning angles. During your Practice adjust your brakes. Adjusting surge brakes is done by springs. the best is electric that you can set the controller. A good RV supply store can be very helpful. Love your Utube channel.
