- In this video I will teach you how to make this simple and easy snowflake.
You will need a crochet hook that fits your yarn or one size smaller if you crochet loosely.
I am using Bernat Softee Baby Yarn and an F (3.75MM) Hook.
Please check out the written pattern here-

I am going to try this tonight. We lost my uncle a few days ago and I want to make one for each cousin to hang on their tree this year in memory of our favorite uncle
If you think she’s going to fast, Listen and write down what she’s saying to do. Then watch what she’s doing. I just appreciate that she did this tutorial for us. It’s a beautiful snowflake
I am a beginner with crochet so it is a bit fast, I pause and complete each step, I do appreciate the whole tutorial, my second snowflake looks better, probably because I paid more attention to each step, haha.
This is the only crochet tutorial I don’t have to skip forward on‼️ very adaptable speed, straight and direct to the point for non-beginner crocheters ‼️ target audience reached l
Very pretty. It was fast for a beginner like me, but that’s what pause and rewind is for. Thank you!
I’m happy to hear you got it to work for you. This tutorial was not intended for beginners and I’ve learned a lot on filming the last few years. (Older tutorials you cannot re-upload)
Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@JonnaMartinezCrochet any tutorial is great. At the end of the day you do this on your own time and I have no entitlement that you present it on my pace.
I’m not a complete beginner but only just got started again after 30 years. One day, I manage the slip-stitch without almost pulling my hair out 😆
Keep up your great work Joanna!
Thank you so much Sandy. You are very kind. I’m happy to hear you picked up crochet again! Thank you for choosing my tutorials and I hope you get to see some of my newer stuff ❤️
I love the smaller tutorials, they are perfect for busy people. I do not have the time to create big pieces, but making pretty small pieces is doable.
I had to slow this down to .75x and pause frequently but my Snowflake came out so pretty! Thank you for the tutorial. Going to make a garland for teacher gifts. :)
That's great! I'm happy to hear you were able to make this old video work for you! These will make great gifts!
I know, that is what I thought, a garland with these would be very pretty.
@@dm5129 How did you make the garland? A continuous strand, or did you make them all separate, then string them/knot them on the garland?
By far the most prettiest snowflake I have ever made! It's easy, fast and straight-forward, and the pattern is beautiful too. Pulchritudinous, I must say!
That’s wonderful to hear! Thank you for sharing your experience. Also I had to look up that last long word you used. Haha thank you for teaching me a new word.
I love how you explain every step that you are doing and not just tell what the stitch is. thank you for going slowly and i can't wait to make these for my tree.
+Becca M I'm so happy you enjoyed this video, thank you for watching and commenting 🌸❄️❄️
Thank you! I really appreciate this tutorial. I'm making these as gifts for women in two Bible study groups I belong to. They are lovely. Thank you for giving such clear verbal instructions! I'm blind and have trouble seeing the stitches in the video. I listened through once to get a good mental picture of what you were doing. I didn't understand the last loop on the second round until I actually did it. What a great way to get to the starting point if the next round without needing to slip stitch.
I’m so happy to hear this tutorial worked so well for you Heidi. Thank you for watching and commenting. These will make wonderful gifts!!
Took me a long time, you go so fast for a beginner and it was also hard to see where you were inserting your hook. Thank you for doing this video
This is an old video. Learning how to teach is part of this experience for me. I didn’t go to school to be a teacher. Not all my tutorials are beginner friendly. If they are I state that in the title. Good job not giving up and completing your snowflake! Thank you for watching!
Also, dear Dotti, Jonna has to presume you have purchased the pattern and the video supports the pattern to help crocheters follow the pattern. It's always good to read the pattern before viewing the video, and then view the whole video before even picking up your yarn and hook so you have a good idea where stitches go and what they look like. Then crochet along.
You can slow the speed which I do often. The instructor sounds drunk but it sure helps.
I was just about to comment the same thing, too fast and not always clear where you're placing your hook.
There’s always possibility to make a video to go slower by changing it into setting. Love this tutorial 👍💕
I actually love the speed of this it’s great for people who can already crochet and if not we can speed up or slow it down to our own needs thanks for this beautiful snowflake.. I’m going to use it along with some others as an appliqué for my daughters crazy sweater day at school❤
Great to hear! Thanks for letting me know. Love the appliqué idea! ❄️❄️❄️❄️
You can go to gear ⚙️ in upper right corner and slow down any video🥰
I'm a beginner and was able to follow this video. Since I'm fairly slow I stopped the video after each step. I started when I was ready for the next part. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you!
+Keri Hartwell I'm very happy you liked my video. Thank you for watching and commenting
Made around 50 of these last year as party decorations and now I’m making more as gifts 😊 thank you for the tutorial.
Wow! That’s amazing! I’m really happy to hear you like these. They are so fun to make. I need to make some for gifts too this year. ❄️❄️❄️
Thank you for watching and commenting.
I bought my first crochet hook yesterday and made 3 of these today! The first one is wonky (my fault for being a newb), but the second and third came out perfectly! I'm so excited that I could actually make these. Thank you for the tutorial! You may be a little fast for a newbie like me, but that is what the pause button is for! Seems like some people need to learn that, lol.
Son re feo tus vídeos les doy un dos dedos
My first one was wonky too, but I knew if I keep trying and really paying attention then they look lovely.
Love this snowflake!!! I’ve made large and medium 3D paper snowflake…now crocheting different snowflakes…will place all in my front window to create a winter wonderland with lights…the bottom will have poly fill to look like snow!!! Thanks for sharing this beautiful pattern!!! Stay safe and be blessed❤
This is a great tutorial: easy to follow and perfect results. I used Bernat Baby Coordinates sport weight with a 2.75mm hook and it came out very lovely. The yarn has a shiny thread wound through it, so it sparkles like snow. Perfect to include in my Christmas cards!
Beautiful!! Thank you for watching and commenting. Merry Christmas ❄️❤️
Wanted to tell you......I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years, and YOU HAVE TAUGHT ME a beautiful new way to slip stitch into DC, etc.....
Yours are so much smoother looking than mine have been......♥️💕THANK YOU SO MUCH!💕♥️ Thank You as well for this easy but beautiful pattern! Mine worked up beautifully using worsted weight SOFT SPARKLE WHITE! Just gorgeous! God bless and keep you and yours, you are a great teacher with a very calming voice! 🙋♀️💕✝️✡️🕊🙏🌹🕊🎄
Hi Deborah! Your snowflake sounds beautiful with the sparkles! I’m really happy to hear everything you liked about this tutorial. Thank you for watching and commenting ❄️❄️❤️❤️
Thank you so much. My great grandma made a thousand of these while blind and I always wanted to learn.
+mamafranklin that's so amazing!
Thank you for watching and commenting
Your direction were so easy to follow, first snow flakes I have ever made. I am going to make them for CHRISTMAS gifts. Going to make green centers & red centers for a contrast. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO.

I’m 13 years old and this was my homework and i had no problem following along
That’s so awesome! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Lovely pattern there so beautiful! I’m gonna decorate my living room like elf to surprise my family happy holidays everyone!! ❄️❄️❄️❄️☃️
Happy holidays!! That’s going to be so much fun! 🤩
This pattern is great! Thank you for making and sharing. I made 12 and used them to make a snowflake garland. It looks like an accessory in an Ikea catalogue! I used white yarn from Caron Simply that has a clear sparkly thread in it. The snowflakes look like they are glistening when the light is right.
Thank you for this! Can you modify the pattern to make snowflakes smaller ❄️? So pretty! You also have a really soothing voice ❤
Thank you so much for the SUPER THANKS!
❤️❤️❤️❤️ The best way to make these smaller is using a smaller yarn and hook.
Baby weight yarns or even crochet thread makes beautiful tiny snowflakes! Thank you again for your support and kindness!
@JonnaMartinezCrochet you're welcome! It's awesome you offer this for free! You are a ⭐️. Thanks for the tip too. I'll try different cotton and smaller needle size!
Thank you for your video. I was actually able to make a beautiful snowflake because your instructions were very clear. For the people who think Jonna is going to fast for you... it's a video, you can stop it and rewind it over and over.
+A K I'm very happy you liked it! Thank you for watching and commenting
Yes but you don't get the time to even figure out what she's saying or doing. I love the star.
You can also speed it up. Lol. Jus click yhe 3 dots in corner and change playback speed. Very nice video! Thank you and God Bless!
@@jeckellhobbs5017 thanks i didnt know you could do that.
@@Sarah-fr4ui Yes, your very welcome.
I'm so pleased with this pattern ... Doesn't matter novice or pro it's just AWESOMELY FABULOUSLY KNOCK DOWN GEORGOUS
Thank you. I’ve been making snowflakes for Christmas gifts all day and this has been my favorite one. Also the easiest to follow!
OMG, I am a beginner and I followed it step by step by stopping doing and stopping and doing. My Beautiful snowflake is finished. I did it! Thanks so much.
I’m really happy the tutorial worked well for you! Thank you for watching and commenting.
This was extremely easy to follow, I’m a beginner and I was very happy with the results! Thank you!
I’m very happy you found this tutorial doable as a beginner! Great job. Thank you for watching and commenting.

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet Your welcome! 🫶🧶
So pretty! I'm making my snowflakes with a worsted weight yarn and an H hook so they come out a little bigger. I'm going to add ribbon to them to make ornaments and gift them at my church for Christmas.
+Rebecca Jusino so nice!! They will be the perfect gift! Thank you for watching and Commenting 🌸 🌸
My first crochet snowflake! I made 3 with left over thread...instructions were easy to follow! Thx!
Great to hear!! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I just finished my snowflake! It felt difficult but I trusted that it was going well, and it turned out beautifully! I was a little loose on my thread so it’s a little big and floppy but it was my very first time crocheting anything!
Thank you so much for the video. Looking forward to more :) xo
Thanks for your help I did a beautiful one for my project and all the teachers loved it dearly thanks
Wonderful to hear! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you! I tried with a mini version of this and im thinking making a necklace or earrings for chritmas presents!
It took me a second try to make your snowflake. It’s really a fast pattern once you learn it. I enjoyed it very much and I’m going to put these on afghans, I’m going to have a variety of blues, whites and violets to make scarves too.
I love how you’ll use these! Thank you for sharing your ideas and choosing my tutorial.
the video is super, the directions perfect for beginners as I am.I follow all your videos ,they are so cool to watch and crocheting .thank you girl!
+vekibutterfly h this is great to hear! Thank you for watching and commenting 🌸🌸🌸
I'm a crochet beginner who could only make basic single/double/half-double crochet stitches and nothing more, and I could complete my first little crochet project following your video! Thanks a lot for this tutorial.
I’m really happy you got to make this! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you for this. I’ve been trying to figure this out for two days. I’m so glad I found your video. I’m trying to make ornaments for my co-workers.
I thought the video was great. I have never made a snowflake before and it turned out amazing. I got it on the first try. Your video was so easy to understand and see.
And at the end instead of cutting the yarn, I finished by
ch 20 and then st in same hole as the last st then cut and tired, creating a large loop to hang on tree. 😊 thank you for the awesome tutorial.
This is great to hear Melissa! Love the loop idea.
Thank you for watching and commenting. ❄️💕
These are awesome! Super easy and fun to make. I’ve been making a ton of them, some as gift tags, I put a bunch on my daughters tiny Christmas tree and actually made a garland out of some in different colors. Thanks for sharing, your instructions were awesome and easy to follow.
Thank you for your video!
I'd like to suggest something for others...I think it's a good idea for them that need to go slower, to watch the pattern first... maby jot down a note of the stitch on a notebook, then, rewind and follow. That way, you get the feel of the pattern before in your head and it may be easier as your following. Kinda like a preview. If you mess up...just start over, no big deal.
That's what I do when I need to start slow on something I've never done before...( and I forget how to do a single crochet stitch all the time for some reason..?? (Guess I get rusty after a break for a month or so..??) Just a suggestion from one crocheter to another.
Again, thank you for taking the time to teach us all a lovely ornament!
Your a great teacher and I learned my first snowflake ever!! Yay!! Very Best Regards, Debra from Tx. 😊
Wonderful advice Debra ❤️ Congratulations on your first snowflake! Thank you for choosing my tutorial, watching and commenting ☃️❄️❄️❄️
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Im a complete beginner so it took me a few goes and some unravelling, but I got there in the end! About to make my second one 😊
I made two snowflakes for a Christmas gift for a friend as coasters. thankyou. these were my ist 2
attempts and despite some unpicking they were in the end very successful.
Wonderful! Thank you for watching and commenting.
I am making a chain of these to hang on a mantel. I love how they came out. Thank you!
+Judy Robinson very lovely!!! Thank you for watching and commenting
I have never even been able to crochet a straight potholder, but this was the year to try. Loved your snowflakes and had a go, but could not quite get it together. I went on to other stars and after finally cracking them came back to your website. I have jus completed two snowflakes. Not quite perfect, but I think I know what I am still doing wrong, so the next one I know will be perfect. Felling very pleased with myself. Thank you so much!
These snowflakes are soooo gracious! Thank you for this great tutorial.
Love this snowflake. Simple and quick once I learned how. Glad I could pause and go back when needed
I love the pattern super simple and really cute. But let's talk about your nails!!!!! Love them!!!!!

TY for teaching. Going to use white crochet thread #3 or 4 , dip these snowflakes in glue/water, sprinkle iridescent glitter on them and send them in my Xmas cards this year.
These will be so much fun to make and great gift idea!! Thank you for watching!
Beautiful, I'm going to make some to use as an applique on a crochet Christmas stocking.

I loved your snowflake, looking for all kinds of different ones to crochet. I think you did a great job... Not to fast and not to slow, and not drawn out either... I made mine with I love this cotton. the white sparkle... its so pretty. Thank you for sharing...

Thank you so much for this. These are almost identical to the ones my great grandmother made that got lost due to a time of homnelessness. I know i can never replace the ones she made but hopefully i can pass the ones i make down like she did.
Very nice item ... your tutorial was spot on although a bit fast ... so easy to pause, rewind if need be. I'm going to try a 3 ply yarn to see if it appears more delicate. Thanks so much for the video.
+Terry Tessier I’m happy to hear the video works okay for you. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Your direction were easy to follow. There were times, were you were going to fast, so I had to rewing to continue. I made in light green and came out real nice. Hello from Panama.
I really like this. Done 3 now, and I'm getting better and better! Thanks so much!

I like the idea of use a s coaster
Ignore those saying you're going too fast. I started crochet yesterday. Made a triangle for some bunting and then made this snowflake. I paused a rewound many times but I have finished the snowflake perfectly. Thank you very much. Great video :D
Thank you so much for your kindness. Congratulations on starting crochet and being able to make this pattern! Amazing. 💕
This is an older video and I have checked my speed in newer videos.

Thank you! I wrapped a Christmas ball ornament with the snowflake!
Such a pretty idea! Thank you for watching and commenting
I love this tutorial!! It was a bit fast at times, but that's perfectly fine for me-- I just paused it until I completed the next step :)
To stiffen the snowflake, do you just soak it in the mixture of water and glue? Or just dip it?
I'll definitely be watching for your tutorials in the future. Thanks so much! Planning on gifting this to my grandparents.
+loveourearth07 I'm happy the video worked for you!
I dip the snowflake in and then squeeze it out, then pin it on a cardboard.

how long should it take to dry?
+Melissa Schaub I would let them dry over night! Thank you for watching!
I love this design! I'm making a snowflake scarf with it!
So beautiful!
I enjoyed watching and crocheting along with you. The yarn I used already had glitter on, so I guess I got lucky. I like the speed and the way you explain the steps. Could it possible for your next videos to get the camera closer as you crochet? Thanks for sharing your creations 🎅
+Paslayas that sounds very pretty!! Thank you for watching and commenting
Thank you so much for this clear and easy tutorial. I'm going to make a garland! Your clear explanations of the stitches meant I didn't get confused with the US/UK differences in terms as I could just follow exactly what you were doing and describing. Thanks again!

I enjoyed your video. Your voice is soothing & you don't get into a lot of unnecessary blabbering like many I've seen. I usually stop watching the chattery ones. I know I could skip past that part, but I'd rather find the type video you made here! It sounds kinda like sitting with a friend & crocheting together!! Thanks for sharing this pattern!

When u stiffen the snowflake with glue, how much glue do u use?
+Catherine Whittaker I would use one tablespoon to a cup of water. If you are using Elmers glue.

You can also use something called "Aleene's Stiffen Quick." It comes in a spray bottle so you can't really mix any glitter in but I'm thinking that as soon as I spray one snowflake I'll sprinkle a tiny bit of very fine iridescent glitter.
This is so beautiful & easy to make. I’m a beginner & have made a few now. Great tutorial. Thank you
Thanks so much and wonderful to hear!
This snowflake is awesome! Thank you for sharing! I love your tutorials, they are the best! this is hard to follow, you don’t explain exactly what you’re doing sometimes and you use the wrong terms sometimes so i ended up not being able to do this because i couldn’t really understand
Thanks for trying.
@@JonnaMartinezCrochet I had absolutely no problem following along with you and found that you explained everything thoroughly enough for my intermediate skill level, thank you! And I see in another comment where you already know that it's not a triple treble but just a regular treble, but watching you work it was obvious what you meant, so didn't trip me up and shouldn't really trip up anyone other than maybe an absolute beginner I don't think. I actually appreciate your quicker pace because so many videos are geared towards beginners (which is great, but can really drag on when you get past the beginner stage), so again, thank you!
Wonderful to hear this. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I disagree, I started crocheting a few days ago and I was able to complete this! Plus I learned how to do a double crochet and triple treble thanks to her
@Jenna Cowart, thank you so much!
This is actually a treble, I had learned it from another crocheter who called it a triple. After I had already made this tutorial I learned it is only a regular treble. But cannot edit the video once it is uploaded. Hopefully others read my reply’s to comments to learn the proper name. It is in fact the correct way to make the stitch though.
Thank you again, I hope you enjoy making snowflakes!
Excellent tutorial and very easy to follow. I made a football applique and a set of doilies from two of your other tutorials.

+sdg921 💕 thank you for watching and commenting. Just a treble I guess. I'm happy it didn't bother you!
Jonna Martinez I meant that as a compliment 😊 coz it is sweet! Your videos are some of my favorite bc you don't drag out every step. I know how to crochet and I watch to learn new patterns or techniques. It's refreshing to watch videos that move through the pattern without over-explaining, etc. I really enjoy all of your vids. Thank you!
She may go fast but this pattern is probably not ideal for someone just starting to crochet so it’s going to be a little hard to follow.
Nice pattern. Simple and easy but beautiful. Great for me as a first time attempt with small hook and thread.
