    I went from running a WEN brand sander to a Dewalt with a ridgid shop vac… I got the Planex 2 and ct36ac last week and my god it’s a dream to use. Truly next level performance and, for me, well worth the $3500 CAN price tag. I don’t sand drywall full time. I’m a carpenter so I pretty much to it all but this setup is still worth it for my business. Going to pay for itself in the next month easily.

    I guess the UK got the first rollout of a new version of the Planex. I just added a new one at the first of the year the LHS 225 EQ-Plus/SW and knowing it was over 1200 usd I am feeling burned about the lack of light on the head and upgraded sanding motion, but I had not heard anything about a new version release.

    Excellent in-depth video, cheers.
    Looking for something to remove UK 1980's artex and you mentioned the older model was used for US popcorn ceilings.
    What model would you recommend for UK artex?

      Thank you, personally I wouldn't bother trying to remove artex yourself until you get it tested for asbestos. It was used in artex until the late 90's so a very high chance it will contain it. Get it tested and removed professionally.

    Great review! One thing you didn't mention, does the head of the sander rotate 180 degrees like the Mirka?

    Does the additional foam pad "hack" to the Easy version give it a swirl free finish?

    Great video mate, I am not sure if mud is softer in Canada than it is in the UK but Festool easy was unusable. Well, at least not on a professional level even with an all-purpose compound let alone finishing. Mainly because of a circular motion and the suction opening would carve into the compound just enough so you can't see it with light but once it's primed you are in for a surprise but I loved your review, it covered what I wanted to hear, nicer finish than the previous model so will give it a try and will write a review later on how it goes for fellow Canadians. I am hoping it can be pushed for a good level 4 finish.

    Thank you very much, your review was very helpful. I was about to purchase a Planex LHS 225 EQ but will now wait for the new Planex 2 to become available in Canada.
    One question I have is what grits of Granat abrasive do you recommend for initial and final sanding of drywall joint compound when using the new Planex 2?

    • @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493
      @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493  3 роки тому

      When sanding previously painted walls usually between 120 grit and 180 depending on condition. For joint compound 240 to 320 again depending on condition.

      @@kklassen I hope so, I've been holding off on buying a mirka till I could compare to the new festool. The light is most intriguing

      @@jimgill7524 me too. Planex 2 is out in Australia. Seems to me a lot have switch over to the mirka from the planex ez. Obviously the planex 2 has only recently come out. Also would be good to know how the paper and mesh compare on the planex 2.

    Wich would you recommend just for sanding Lvl 4 and 5,

    • @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493
      @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493  2 роки тому

      The planex 2 for sure. It can also have a foam pad as well so it doesn't depress onto the surface so aggressively meaning you can get a better finish on compounds.

    Is the granite adhesive sander specifically made for the New festool planed 2 or it is a standardised material you buy of any counter that fits any Sander.

    • @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493

      You could use it on another 225mm wall sander with hook and loop attachment but the holes may not line up.

    Do you need to have the festool extractor to use this? Or can you hook it up to any vacuum and plug

    I've heard some ppl saying it leaves swirls / grooves. what is the best set up / settings?

    • @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493
      @rushmoorpaintinganddecorat1493  5 місяців тому +1

      It can if the compound is very soft or suction settings are too high. I like to use an interface foam pad to reduce pressure on compounds to give the best finish.
