      Thanks Tibby, I would really like to see a detailed video on the harness for the planex. I’d like to know how practical and comfortable it really is to use. Also, what’s the highest ceiling you can reasonably get to with that platform. I’m 6 foot tall.

    Awesome video, mate! Crazy how I can get better expanded information not from the actual Festool videos! I do very light mud finish work over here in Canada and I'm struggling to fine tune this so it's not taking off too much! Even with a 220 pad, low speed and low suction, I'm leaving gouges on my ceiling butt joints. I have an interface pad and 320 mesh pads coming in the mail, hopefully it'll solve my issues. Cheers!

      Thanks for your kind words! We tried our best to cover everything and go into much detail as possible so we're glad you found it useful. Let us know how you get on with the fine sandpaper 👍

    • @jocelynsparks7318
      @jocelynsparks7318 2 роки тому

      Did the new interface pad work? Is it just a Velcro soft pad? I have the same issue leaving lines in my light weight mud.

    • @EchiLoki
      @EchiLoki 2 роки тому +2

      @@jocelynsparks7318 yeah the interface pad is just a Velcro thin foam. It made a difference for me. The foam helped the sander be a bit forgiving when the head might tilt a little beyond it's range or putting it on the wall/cieling as well as lift off. I was doing vaulted ceilings so I really needed that forgiveness.
      It does however compromise the suction a little. Not a crazy amount but enough to notice. I was operating at full suction and the head set a bit under the ceiling setting and I could see a little bit more than I did before, particularly on the lift off.
      The 320 mesh pads are great for avoiding swirls. My only gripe is if you sanding near an outlet or light fixture, it might mess up the mesh, causing a curl on the pad, and if your not aware of it and adjust it, it can cause some light gouges. You also have to pay attention to the wear of those pads because once start to get thin, it'll iether curl easier or start wearing through to the velcro. Just wish they made the regular granat in 320, save me some headache.
      My other gripe is that it still doesn't taper my edges down very well. I found particularly with the ceilings, I still had to take the edges down by hand. If I tried doing it with the sander, more likely I would either take too much out of my middle or rough up the paper.
      If anything this tool might convince me to start using general mix alot more and start putting my coats on a bit thicker.
      Anyway, long response but I hope it helps

    • @EchiLoki
      @EchiLoki 2 роки тому

      @@jocelynsparks7318 oh also, for light mud, I basically only ran the sander on like 3.5 or 4 speed. And if you end up buying an interface pad, look for the new ones (it'll say what model number). The interface pad I bought was for the original model which doesn't have all those small holes in it. I had to use a leather hole punch to add them in. Not a huge deal but if it can save you a monotonous hour on two pads, all the better.

    Great video! If I want to sand off some old patchy eggshell paint, what grit should I use? The plaster and the paint are both quite old.

    • @TibbySingh
      @TibbySingh  4 роки тому

      Thank you, glad you liked the video! Are you wanted to sand the eggshell off completely or just sand down the walls to prepare it for new coat of paint. To prepare it I would think 120 grit would be sufficient. You wouldn't want to use a course grit as it would leave a rough surface.
      However if you're wanting to take the paint off completely for some reason or flatten down some major humps in the wall then there's no harm in using a course grit such as 60 Grit but then going over it again with 120 Grit to get a smoother finish.
      Hope all this makes sense :)

      Finally came in about the middle of May! Only downside to this sander is the LED light that will show you what you missed when prepping the wall the first time. Here's a nest of nail pops you missed! Get out the power drill, cinch the nail up and three more coats of mud. For the heck of it I cranked up the power at the head, couldn't even pull it off the wall without turning it off!

    19:53 why there’s dust under the filter?

    • @TibbySingh
      @TibbySingh  3 роки тому

      Inevitably there will be some dust there but it's nothing to worry about. It's because of the plastic bag isn't enclosed but that's the only way to do it when sanding walls down. That's why it's important to have auto clean on with the plastic bag as it keeps cleaning the filter every so often. I hope that makes sense 👍

    • @Igor-q3f
      @Igor-q3f 3 роки тому

      @@TibbySingh that dust can be blown back in the air, doesn’t look right. Why can’t you use the bags for all the time?
      I’m using bags for 5 years and the filter still looks like new.

      You're right although with a tool like this you're most likely wanting to use it over long durations sanding down big areas. Therefore it would need consistent power.
      Saying that Festool have launched their New Portable Power Station therefore with that it can be used in places where there's no power 👍
