Ruth Boykin and Milton Moore, I always watch for your comments and recommendations for different songs and Artists and I’m never disappointed. I guess we have something in common because I was born in Texas and raised in Cajun country in Louisiana where there is always good country music and Western Texas swing when I would visit family in Beaumont,Vidor,Orange and Houston area. My younger cousins were best friends with Tracy Byrd and family as well with others who got their start in that area. I really enjoy true country music. My sweet hubby and I danced together for almost 50 years and I still dance with my group of friends every opportunity I have and still loving it

The "Great Speckled Bird" tune was actually taken from an earlier Carter Family song "I'm Thinking Tonight Of My Blue Eyes". And who knows where A. P. Carter got the tune; many of his songs were "borrowed" from older European ballads.
Could the melody of "The great speckled bird" be used anymore? I think this is the 5th song I've heard that uses it.
