    This video literally has changed my entire concealed carry life. Adding a wedge was the best thing I could’ve done for myself, but it still wasn’t perfect. Saw this video, figured I’d try it cuz at worst, it like $7 down the drain, no big deal. But I did NOT realize how comfortable and how incredibly well this technique works. I even doubled up a couple of these heel inserts to make a slightly bigger wedge and it’s allowed me to carry some guns I’ve never been able to carry before not only due to how uncomfortable it was, but also because I couldn’t get them to conceal well enough.
    Thank you for putting this out there; this video has made carrying fun for me again! AND is super comfortable again, too!!

    As a bigger guy who gets bruises at my waist at 3:00 every time I wear my IWB holster for any period of time, I'm excited to try this hack! My Vedder Lighttuck is as adjustable as it gets. It's my body type that's causing the problem. Ordered the needed from Amazon and should be here today.
    Update: Yes, it's a vast improvement! It also has the added benefit of canting the holster out a bit and preventing my skin from getting pinched when re-holstering. I'll have a better assessment after wearing it for 8 hours, but this feels like it will work.

    Kept searching for your follow up video but couldn't find it. So, I just finished attaching my Dr Scholls to my Glock 19,IWB appendix carry, kydex holster, which uses Ulticlip , made by HolsterCo LLC. Your hack works perfectly. It is easy to install and provides about 1/4" to 3/8 "adjustment. In other words it pushes the the handle of the pistol into my belly. Nice way to improvise a Keepers Holster, btw... a hair dryer helps with velcro adhesion (like with Talon grips) it has worked well with my Crossbreed for about six months now... even with the tactical muffin top.

      @James_T_Kirk_1701 6 років тому +3

      even just rubbing them in your hands (like you're washing you hands) while the clear plastic in on there you will help it adhere. Hair dryer or heat gun does work best but I don't always do that unless it is something I'm taking a bit of time and effort on. When I'm just throwing something together, I rub them in my hands for about 30 seconds vigorously hand it heats it up a bit.

      It’s sucks. The wedge is not even close to being a wedge. It offers absolutely jack shit. You need a thicker wedge shape rubber door stopper or a thick thick foam pad and shape it into a wedge for it to work. The shoe gel pad is way too skinny and doesn’t do JACK SHIT. it’s a fuckin ugly add on. Go with one of the two I listed or get a real wedge and claw for ultimate usability and concealment

    I tried the wedge hack. It feels like I need a bigger wedge.
    It does help greatly with the gun pressing into my pelvis (it was a hotspot), however it feels as if it's not helping enough in tucking the grip into my abdomen.
    I may try stacking the two wedges on top of each other.
    I'm using a Crossbreek "The Reckoning" holster with claw. The holster backing is (cow) leather, but I was able to get the velcro to stick (used tape to the leather to make a smooth surface for velcro adhesion).

I'm a big dude and I carry my glock 26 with G17 mags in it in a $30 holster I got off of Amazon and it's perfectly comfortable. Now it's not a 19 but not too much difference in size and no it doesnt have the attached mag holder, I carry those in my pocket but my point is there are literally hundreds if not thousands of options for concealed carry out there so why sell it before you've exhausted all possibilities? That's all. Now if you weren't particularly fond of it or you needed some quick cash then That changes everything! Either way none of my business just hate to see you lose out before you tried everything. In fact maybe a 26 might work better for you, pick up those mag sleeves that cover the exposed part of a Glock 17 mag and you can rock it in a 26!! Then you have 18 rnds in a compact pistol. Like I said I'm a big guy with the first inexpensive holster I found and couldn't be happier! Should you really be interested let me know and I'll get you the exact holster I'm running with that set up. Thanks.

      Samuel Alzate There you go man!! I love how your thinking!!! I gotta get one of those too! I got all kinds of glocks and guns in general man but I feel your pain! When I was a young man, I'm 50 now I got into some trouble and needed the quick cash and of course the only thing I had of value was my guns!!! So one by one they all went! All but a new fangled plastic pistol I bought in 1987!! Everybody in my shooting circle thought I'd lost my mind paying that much for "PLASTIC" Well thankfully something told me to hold onto that gun which of course is a Glock17 gen2 I think which if I'm not mistaken was what the public was sold??Anyhow man other then one issue with locking back on an empty mag which they quickly fixed it's been the best I've owned! I'd be afraid to guess the round count through her and shes still all original!!! But if I had to guess in the 30plus yes I've had it probably easily a half million rounds!!! Maybe I should contact Glock and tell them my story!! Lol. Anyway bud thanks for taking what I wrote in a positive way cause that's how I meant it and I hate to hear people part with guns unless of course they hate it but not your case! Hang in there and just start rebuilding your collection as you can and you know that will pretty much hold its value!! At least that's what I tell myself every time I want a new toy!! Which seems to be every other week a new gun comes out!!! Thanks for the reply and good luck with the new 19!! Share a pic when your the proud owner!! Lol.

      It being grabby is actually a great benefit. While it is a little harder to get the holster into your pants the benefit is that it doesn’t move once it’s there. Holster is always in the same place on the draw and it doesn’t try and come out with the gun.

      Joe Brown use a hair drier to help the adhesion process. If all else fails just hot glue/super glue it on. It’s the disposable part so it shouldn’t matter if it’s permanent. Hope this helps.

    Doesn’t work as a wedge for me the concave shape of the heel part doesn’t push out the holster enough. It’s comfortable and doesn’t move around. For the price there’s better and cheaper options. Yoga block, solid heel insert or just get the T1C wedges

    • @Libertarian_Neighbor
      @Libertarian_Neighbor 5 років тому

      Jalen Byon No. Tuctite uses horrible clips that dig into your skin whenever you sit down. Most of these holsters are the same. The important differences are the little things like what clips are used, angles and overall ability to conceal. Like most guys, I have a drawer full of failed holsters. I modify my current edc holsters to fit my body. I would have to Dremel off the lower portion of the Tuctite clips to make it remotely useable.

  • @warrenphilips8441
    @warrenphilips8441 6 років тому +2

    Padding that area is a genius idea but using something that doesn't breathe could be improved. Right now it might not be so bad but any extended period outdoors with 110 degrees in August and your swamp sack just turned into a running faucet. Cut out some breathable padding from something, re-purposed sports padding etc., sew it to Velcro for attachment and so that the edges don't fray. Voila. There may already be pads with Velcro that would do the trick stolen from some other usage. The hunt begins...

    • @warrenphilips8441
      @warrenphilips8441 6 років тому

      Quick Google search: Helmet pads might the best off the shelf solution. I was thinking one of those loose mesh shoulder pads or something like that first. Then may be neoprene like an Ace bandage or soft knee pads. But if anyone finds something else please post.

    • @8541tactical
      @8541tactical  6 років тому +4

      The gel will not absorb sweat and shouldn’t be any less-comfortable than the non-breathable kydex. Also, I don’t usually go commando, so there should always be a base layer between my skin and the pad.
      Helmet pads would likely work fine if you want to cut them to shape. I am not sure how durable they would be in this configuration.
