Your truck sounds kick-ass. The best sounding exhausts never have an X or H pipe. Listen to that. That's the kind of stuff that made me want to build hot rods as a kid. Love it!
@@TheKoppenhaffer The clap clap clap is made trashy with cast iron manifolds and fat exhaust tips. Once you go to headers and at least 2 feet of tail pipe without a fat exhaust tip, you get a pretty aggressive rumble.

@@braedonphillips2617 Lol 😂 good luck bro my comment was two years old I just ran open headers the whole time had absolutely no problem at all it fucking shredded ears dude, definitely loved it at the red lights, hearing the cam chop and see people rolling up windows 😂😂😂💀
Everyone's already said what I was.. Finally..this was my last try to hear an exhaust where unafraid to REV the GD thing!!!!The best common sense video on UA-cam. The model..the standard on how to do it omg. Still hatn those young twits for wasting my time.
Love it, very accurate, I had glasspacks from some Chinese brand cheap, absolutely hated them, no sound whatsoever of my long tubes. I been straight for months now sounds identical to your straight, 350 4 bolt, .040 over, .010 shim head gasket, summit 1305 350hp cam I believe, edelbrock performer, edelbrock 4 barrel. Think I'll go with the quality glasspacks now, I'm slowly loosing my hearing on daily commute!
Glass packs get louder over time. I had 22 inch on my 350 before I redone everything and put 31" and I had to wear ear plugs at 65 mph going down the highway because it was so loud with the 22".
Following ya now, just pick up a 1946 Chrysler Windsor with a 400 in it! 👌🏼👌🏼 trying good think if I want straight pipes! Thanks man! Thinking I’m doing it!
I heard that if you use 3 inch pipe but bolt the thrush mufflers right to the headers that it will echo through the exhaust and sound mean. Do you know if this is true or could you test it?
I just got short tubed headers, true duals 2.5 inch all the way back into thrush welded mufflers and it kick out the sides before the rear tire. The Thrush welded mufflers are too quite time to go back to the cherrybombs
Great comparison video love the glass packs I got a glasspack on my 04 Silverado sounds awesome I like the glasspack over the flow master super 40 but your truck sounds great with the glass packs
Great comparison. I got a s10 with a stock 350tbi in it and it's the same setup you have. I like the straight pipes but glasspacks seem to be a good compromise, since when people hear a straight piped s10 they just want to race you haha
TheFinalWake Thanks Bud! Ya, I always cut mufflers out not put ones in. Lol so was a little hard for me to put glass packs in. But now that they are in I’m happy with them. Keeps the drone down. And let’s me listen to music and a nicer volume.
Tyson Stauffer yup straight pipe or no pipe is what I like to say but I’ll probably put glasspacks in with band clamps so I can take them out. Also I need to do heads and a cam on mine because yours sounds good
I think the same way! Straight pipe or no pipe! But the last exhaust work I did was on my 86 C3500 big 454. I decided to go with cherry bombs, and no regrets. Gets loud when you open up all 4 of them barrels and stays quiet with low drone just cruising around.
Hi, I k ow this video is old. Do you rememberwhereyou had the glasspacks positioned? Was it in the middle somewhere or ar the end. I am trying to get a similar sound out of a similarly built dodge 360 in a pickup. Thanks!
What year is the motor and what all have you had done to it. I'm wondering because I have a complete 1999 k5 blazer chassis and motor and I put a 1969 jeep gladiator on top of it and I want to sound and run like your first exhaust.
Go thrush weild with 2.5 straight pipe that will get you there I have a 85 Chevy Scottsdale same set up about to add long tube headers then intake manifold but it sounds just like that first one I like to make my girl jump from the rev when I pick her up from work lol
We do? I had ideas to make several videos on but it didn’t work out. Then am feeling why Would I take the time to make a video just to share it with some people online. So I basically quit caring.
What longtubes are you running? Im about to do a similar exhaust setup with longtubes and possibly the thrush 2.25" duals clamped with cherry bombs welded in somewhere.. Hows the clearance?
Flow tech long tubes if I remember right. The passenger side exhaust hangs below the cross member. You can see it under the truck. But header clearance between engine and frame is great.
Not enough fuel when I stab the throttle. I have a bad lean spike. Working on squirter jets and pump cams to get it sorted out. Have an air fuel meter which helps tuning a ton.
Justin Leitschuh I like the sound better from the straights. It’s more ratty. Lot more drone tho. Was abit too obnoxious so I went to the glass packs. It toned it down a lot at idle. Now I can actually go through a drive through. Don’t have people rolling up their windows when I pull up next to them at a light. Lol makes it nice and quiet in the cab at hwy speeds. Can actually hear the radio without it being cranked. But still sounds great when I floor it. Just takes more rpm to hear the crackle compared to straights.
Thanks Tyson, if it’s alright for me to ask, what engine do you have, im running a built 350 and have some. Problems with being able to hear in the cab too even with the mufflers i have, i was wanting to say screw it and just have it piped like the first run for the sweet sound of a square body, but i also don’t want hearing loss lol, if you’d like to check out my 83 k10 search justin_leitschuh on insta, thanks for the feedback its much appreciated
It was a budget build. It’s the stock 350 bottom end. I put Vortec heads on, edelbrock rpm airgap intake, long tube headers. And a comp xe274h-10 cam, duration is 230/236 deg and .487/.490 lift. new valve springs to handle the lift. Holly 670 carb. I think the cam is a touch on the large size for my low compression, im having difficulting getting the carb set right to come off idle nice.
Off topic question but, im trying to choose a cam, this is one of the ones im considering, do you have any problems with the vacuum brake booster with this setup?
Ya it’s not ideal. But I mostly drive hwy with it so didn’t want to sacrifice that by changing the rear end. Will go overdrive trans and 3:73 rear gear.
Farmer Fix It makes sense. I have an extra 700r4 laying around but I live in Cali. pretty good transmission until you start making power, then you’ll have to rebuild it to handle the power. 3.06 first gear hauls ass
Helps a fair bit. Lot less drone at certain rpm where it was too much with straights. There is still some but it’s not bad. And cruising down the hwy is way quieter.
They look like the American racing ar767, not sure if it’s actually them without finding the receipt. But they have the blue and red strip. Ya back are 10” wide with more offset than the fronts at 8” wide.
Just curious.i am just about to swap my engine to sbc.what makes difference the longtube headers vs regular in small block.my shop offers me Headman longtube headers.does it change the sound?
Dam good comparison. Finally someone not afraid to get into higher rpms
Theodore White Thanks. Gotta hear the small block scream!
And he didnt put the microphone on the exhaust pipe to where all we could hear was wind noise.
