Getting rid of corruption and providing a better standard of living could stimulate it, but that would be way harder than yet another repressive law. Path of least resistance...
I disagree, look at African countries and its abysmal living standards yet the birth rates are high. If we ignore Africa, look at Afghanistan's birth rate and the state of the country. It's obvious that the standard of living doesn't correlate to higher births. Fighting corruption helps, but can't solve the problem. Otherwise, Norway would have a great birthrate, and it's 1.55 per woman. However, this law will be used for repression purposes, for example you can't say "how to have children in this economy?", so it's here to crack down on criticism of the state and Putin, like in Turkmenistan.
Both of those things are attempted but ultimately that is not why people choose to not have kids. They choose because they never wanted them that much in the first place, or else they would do it regardless. Also, standard of living appears to have a negative effect upon fertility, almost like people don’t like having to deal with children and want to enjoy themselves in all these cool things… what a sick society.
Because labeling children as personal burden and national obligation is clearly such a great idea... Look up childlessness tax (obviously the number of population quadrupled over two generations /s)
It's so bizarre how Westerners hear "traditional values" come from the mouth of a Russian propagandist and they think it means free and conservative when it means reworking to Soviet life where humans are the property of the state.
Millions of russians immigrated abroad and that's not only because of the war in Ukraine. Many immigrated before the war. A little bit like Poland when it joined the European Union in 2004. About a million Russian citizens are married to Turkish citizens in Turkey. Several are married in China to rich Chinese. Many more in EU, Asia, Africa, USA, Middle Eastern countries and ex Soviet Union state. Many are there as immigrants and don't want to return to Russia. The number of Russians in Thailand is already extremely very high, and the majority have no intention of going back to Russia. Russian girls dating foreigners and residing permanently abroad for various reasons is also considerably contributing to the white flight and high decline in demographic white child birth rate in Russia. Also predominantly in bigger Russian cities women don't want to have children early just as in the West. And when the do it really doesn't go above 1, 2 or 3. The pure Russian white ethnicity is probably in it's beginning of it's verge of extinction.
Possibly because project 2025 is one of the most moderate right-wing actions plans compared to many places and they didn’t think it was necessary (it is). Trump is literally just a somewhat classical liberal, which is still a liberal. Putin is a Nationalist, which I can respect him for since he’s pulled his country out of the gutter into the best state it’s ever been in.
Its a panic idea because like the majority of countries Russia uses the taxes generated by the working adults to pay for the young, old and infirm. If you reduce your working population all will suffer. The UK is already seeing the birth rate drop and the social bill creeping further upwards. I pity my children's future.
Some countries offer a carrot, others the stick, but maintaining the nation’s population through reproduction is a goal for all nations. Those governments that choose to emphasis immigration instead, have no business being in charge.
Immigration is a challenge for Russia. Make a country people want to come to and you'll have to deal with illegal immigration, but create a stinking polluted wasteland of oppression, awful roads, and chauvinism and people will leave. That's what's happening with Russia.
I know it pains you to hear this and doesn’t push your agenda but this isn’t new and it was never just women penalized historically. Even men were charged a bachelor tax for not having children.

@@zlauriaultThe Nazis did it, the Soviets tried (they weren’t willing to just have breeding centers like the Nazis). Putin doesn’t want to force it, but it’s a serious problem that will be the country’s doom if it isn’t fixed. Personally, I believe the only way to fix it is to drastically change the culture, it’d have to be more religious and you’d also have to ban almost all kinds of contraceptives so that people start to make families together. This has been standard for most of human history, so it’s not impossible to achieve, but what would be necessary is a radical departure from the “modern” way of life.
Most of them are in the poorer places. And we cannot just ignore population decline in several areas. This is not good, and letting in migrants won’t solve the core issues.
Why are you so smug saying the birth rate is declining in Russia? Its declining in every European country. It’s just that Europe is choosing a different approach to boost population - practically open borders, illegal immigration that just can’t seem to stop.
@@charlesekpima8210That’s possibly because ever since the Union collapsed, these central-asian states have no support to keep making money. Why is the birthrate declining in Russia in the first place? In the US it may need to do with a causal mentality towards sex, an aversion to accepting responsibility, feminism resulting in the subversion of masculine and feminine roles related to hypergamic structure. Russia, I've heard, is more traditional in societal values than the West.
nah, the reason it is declining in the US is young people can barely make ends meet for themselves due to the extreme exploitation by the rich, so they don't plan on having kids because they simply don't have the time and money to make that investment.
@@vrenak I know that inflation to fund an ever expanding government and foreign campaigns have had an impact on affordability. It’s because of Communism. Today, Russia is more traditional, but it’s hard to break away from Soviet influence, and the western ideology also supports these kinds of things more reverently than the Soviets ever did, so propaganda plays a role.
